Dear Parents/Caregivers,
Welcome to the last newsletter for 2018!
It’s hard to believe how quickly this year has gone by and how much we
have accomplished and experienced over the past 12 months. Thank
you to all parents, family and community members for your continued
support of our school throughout the year; it is greatly appreciated.
Semester 2 Reports will be distributed to all children tomorrow and the
last week of school is set to be full of wonderful celebrations!
Staffing arrangements for 2019 are almost complete and I have
attached a copy of next year’s staff list for your information. You will
notice that, due to an increase in enrolments, we will have four
Kindergarten classes in 2019. This extra class will enable us to keep our
Kindergarten numbers at approximately 16-17 students per class. We will
be conducting interviews for our Assistant Principal Support next week
and the successful applicant will also be the class teacher for our
additional support class next year.
Sadly we will be farewelling three staff at the end of this year – Mrs
Jenelle Haskew will return to her hometown of Young and will take up a
position at Young North Public School; Miss Ashlee Causton will be
heading to the Griffith area to work in a number of different schools and
Miss Catherine Gorham will be heading overseas to Japan, as part of the
2019 Ship for World Youth Delegation. I know I speak on behalf of all
students, staff and parents when I say that Jenelle, Ashlee and Catherine
will be sorely missed and we hope that they come back to visit us
frequently!
Next Monday our community and parent helpers are invited to attend a
special morning tea as a token of thanks, on behalf of all the students
and staff at Cowra Public School. We are very grateful for the ongoing
support we receive from our fabulous school community.
Also on Monday, all students will have the chance to celebrate their
excellent behaviour this term at our PBL Acknowledgement Water Fun
Day! With ‘slip’n’slides’, sprinklers, water pistols and lots of fun planned, it
is sure to be a day to remember! Please find the “Water Fun Day”
information note attached to this week’s newsletter.
Tonight our Year 6 students will celebrate the end of their primary school
years with the Year 6 farewell taking place in the school hall. Thank you
to the Stage 3 teachers who have organised this special event and a
special thank you to Kristen Sturgiss for making the Graduation cake. I
hope that all students enjoy their special night and the opportunity to
spend time with their classmates and teachers during their last few days
as Primary School students.

Primary Class Parties
Will be held on Friday, 14th
December.
Infants’ Class Parties
Will be held on Monday, 17th
December.
I look forward to seeing all of our families at our Presentation Day on Tuesday 18th December at 9:30am for
Infants, and 11:30am for Primary as we celebrate another wonderful year of learning at Cowra PS, and
again on Wednesday 19th December at 2:30pm for our Year 6 Graduation Ceremony.
A reminder that school resumes for students in Years 1-6 on Wednesday 30th January 2019. Our new
Kindergarten children will receive a letter next week advising each family of their child’s Best Start
Assessment times. These assessments will be held on Wednesday 30th January, Thursday 31st January and
Friday 1st February and will go for approximately one hour. All Kindergarten children will attend their first full
school day on Monday 4th February 2019.
On behalf of all the staff I would like to wish all families a very Merry Christmas and a safe and relaxing
holiday!
Have a great week…

Christmas Carols in the Garden
Cowra Japanese Garden and Cultural Centre will host the 2018
Carols in the Garden on Sunday 16th December.
Organised by the Carols committee of Cowra, the Carols will
showcase local singers, dancers and musicians with the
community encouraged to come and sing along. The Carols will
be led by Cowra Community Choir with performances by Cowra
Ballet School, Cowra Dance Factory, students from the Cowra
Singing School and Penny Simpson.
Gates open at 6pm with entertainment commencing at 7pm
and Santa stopping by for a visit during the afternoon. Entry is by
gold coin donation and glow sticks can be purchased for $2.00 each at the door with
profits being donated to CWA Drought Assistance.
As well as the carol singing, the Cowra Rotary barbecue will be in operation, Mr Whippy
will have coffee and soft serve available and Central West Castle Hire will have a small
jumping castle operating for the children at a cost of $3.00 for 7 minutes on the castle.
The Garden Gift Shop will be open on the night with gifts, drinks and ice creams
available. A Friend of the Garden Annual Pass is a great gift idea!
