• Information systems (IS) are used in almost every business.– Service industries like education, travel, insurance, finance,
IT/ITes etc cannot work without information.– ATM’s at banks, Kiosks with touch screens and clerks
scanning our purchases using bar codes are few examples of IS been used every hour.
– Central network alerting farmers about farm crops and pests, providing updates on weather and soil condition and pricing of grains…..
– In Italy, a consortium of cheese makers uses IS to track when and where cheese was produced, how did it look and tastes and what will it cost.
– Major Fortune 500 companies spend more than $1 billion per year on IS
– No matter in what profession you are, you can always use IS
Classroom Policies• Attendance Criteria – 75%
• You are expected to be class on/before scheduled time. You will be allowed to enter in class in first 10 minutes of lecture. After that you are welcome to class but would not be awarded attendance.
• Make sure you are not absent on Presentation day or Activity day or case study discussion day or tests. Zero marks would be awarded to absentees.
• You’ll be informed well in advance about the important deadlines.
• DO NOT COPY ASSIGNMENTS. All the copied assignments and master assignment would be straight away cancelled
