• Information systems (IS) are used in almost every business.– Service industries like education, travel, insurance, finance,

IT/ITes etc cannot work without information.– ATM’s at banks, Kiosks with touch screens and clerks

scanning our purchases using bar codes are few examples of IS been used every hour.

– Central network alerting farmers about farm crops and pests, providing updates on weather and soil condition and pricing of grains…..

– In Italy, a consortium of cheese makers uses IS to track when and where cheese was produced, how did it look and tastes and what will it cost.

– Major Fortune 500 companies spend more than $1 billion per year on IS

– No matter in what profession you are, you can always use IS
