With theThanksgivingholiday fast ap-proaching, there is usually quite a bit ofbuzz about tryptophan in our holidayfoods. So,justwhatisTryptophan? Tryptophanisanaminoacidneededfornormalgrowthininfantsandfornitrogenbalanceinadults. It isanessentialaminoacid,whichmeansyourbodycannotpro-duceit-youmustgetitfromyourdiet. Tryptophan can be found in: Cheese,Chicken, Eggs, Fish, Milk, Nuts, Peanutbutter, Peanuts, Pumpkin seeds, Sesameseeds,Soy,Tofu,and...Turkey. So, when you feel sleepy after all thefeasting, it’s not because you’ve had agoodworkout(thoughcarryingtheturkeyto the table might qualify), it’s becauseyou’vejustreceivedaheathydoseofna-ture’ssleepdrug.Enjoy.
