This year we had several new as well as older rod building shops with either project carsor high quality finished cars . It just goes to show you that the car hobby is alive and well inthe Black Hills.Speaking of high quality finished cars, it was amazing to see the G3 Rods display and thosebeautiful cars. They were awarded best in show once again with the 1955 Chevrolet road-ster (formerly a steel roof) they built, powered by a blown 427 ci FORD motor.Their were lots of things happening throughout the show including a 30’s Chevy coupe be-ing chopped, as well as a kids model building contest and coloring contest. If that wasn’tenough the first 500 kids through the door on Saturday received a ‘Hot Wheels’ car to takehome with them. Many kids tickets were purchased through the" Take a Kid to the Car Show” programwith MANY businesses and individuals sponsoring the tickets. Many charities were presented money from the profits of the show at the clubhouse onMarch 14th! Once again, variety was very evidentthroughout the show. It is so nice to seeclubs showing off their vehicles as agroup. It is also a great way to visit withpeople that have like interests and possi-bly pick up a new member or two. Thanks to the Gold Dust antique car club, the Camaro club, the Mopar Club andthe Dakotas Chapter Studebaker clubwho went out of their way to have 11 en-tered cars in their display. There was at least one Tuner club repre-sented in the Center Hall with someamazingly engineered rides.Hot Rod Institute was well representedwith project cars that are under construc-tion in their “school” of hot rod building! Many thanks go out to the window manfrom northern Minnesota for sending 2neat cars from his huge collection, thefirst ever Chevelle SS and a powerfulBoss 429 Mustang. We had several unfinished cars andtrucks, and it showed once again thatthere is some real potential being built inshops and garages in the Black Hills area. It’s neat to see an unfinished car that wasin the show last year and see it finished inall it’s glory this year! The vendors really had some inventivedisplays with several doing hands on asdemonstration of what their shop does.On this and other pages I tried to get asmany photos of as many cars as I could. They aren’t captioned but you get theidea of what was at the show.
