DESCRIPTION

Since 1978 Real Estate Weekly has been synonymous with outstanding coverage of the Greater Vancouver residential real estate market. Today, published with recycled newsprint from its own high-speed presses in Vancouver, Real Estate Weekly is delivered by British Columbia's largest courier force to over 450,000 homes across the Lower Mainland. A total of 14 separate editions comprise the Real Estate Weekly, each featuring homes for sale, new developments and quality editorial coverage of the housing industry and the communities. Real Estate Weekly, quite simply, lists more homes for sale from more Realtors than any other publication in British Columbia. Real Estate Weekly is the number one source for Lower Mainland residential real estate and the first choice of both homebuyers and Realtors for more than three decades.

Mistakes to Avoid When Buying an

Investment Property

BRING THE HOLIDAYS BRING THE HOLIDAYS Into Your HomeInto Your HomeThere’s excitement in the air as family and

friends gather together for the holidays,

and we all want our homes to refl ect this

joy. To inspire you with festive holiday

decorating ideas, REW spoke to three art-

ists taking part in this year’s Got Craft?

holiday craft fair.

Jennifer Chu, owner, Green with Envy Floral + Textile Designs www.greenwithenvy.ca

• Head for a walk in search of nature’s

bounty – branches, cedar, holly and pine

cones. Cover the base of a hurricane lan-

tern with your greenery, add a large white

candle and you have a beautiful center-

piece for your table. Tie a ribbon on the

hook for a hint of colour or use spray snow

on the greenery.

• Add a simple non-traditional wreath to

your door using willow branches, a steel

frame and cedar. Keep overlapping the

branches in a circular, clockwise motion.

Then embellish with pine cones, dried

fl owers or succulents.

• Fairy lights pack a big punch! You can

hang them, create a glowing garland for

your sideboard or mantel entrance or

entwine them in a vase or other container.

• Another popular trend is the chalkboard.

Buy a simple wood frame and some chalk-

board paint and write words on it such as

Joy or Peace or your holiday dinner menu.

• A moss-covered branch makes for a fabu-

lous rod on which to hang ornaments or

tea light holders.

Tamara Komuniecki, owner, Delish General Store www.delishgeneralstore.bigcartel.com

• Make Pinterest your best friend … it is a

repository of inspiration.

• Fill mason jars with white fairy lights,

add a little greenery at the bottom and

voila – a simple yet stunning vignette. Or

dip them in metallic paint, sparkles and

• If you are on a budget or your condo

doesn’t allow a real Christmas tree, pick

up some cedar branches. Place them

upright in a large vase or bucket and cre-

ate your own unique tree on which to hang

your homemade ornaments.

• Washi tape is a Japanese masking tape

use it on your walls and it will not peel

paint off . Use it to create your own orna-

Tsawwassen has seen a lot of new attention

in recent years. With big investment in every-

thing from infrastructure to retail, it’s clear

that this idyllic rural community is now on the

radar. It’s hardly surprising. The community

gets three times more sun than Vancouver, has

beautiful beaches, gorgeous mountain views,

and enjoys a tranquil, easygoing community

feel. If anything, it’s surprising that it took the

Lower Mainland so long to discover this place.

Tsawwassen Springs, a new resort-style

community close to the ferry terminal, has

seen the value in Tsawwassen all along. The

concept of this new neighbourhood is simple:

create a high-value golf community, with a true

vacation feel, in a location that’s totally central

to the Vancouver area. The community fea-

tures a mix of expansive concrete condos and

freestanding homes, at a value you normally

wouldn’t expect for this level of quality.

The result has been a runaway success.

With greenside living and front door access

to the course and amenities, the fi rst phase

of condos sold out remarkably quickly. Since

2011, the community has grown to nearly

300 residents so far, and the families that

have moved in are raving about life in the

community. New friendships are forming all

the time at Tsawwassen Springs, according

to residents – often on the fairways, or on the

Pro Shop patio.

PHASE II CONDO COLLECTION

A new release of concrete condos at

Tsawwassen Springs has sparked renewed

attention at the site. Like all of the residences

at Tsawwassen Springs, the Phase II condos

exhibit the best of today’s Arts & Crafts

architecture, with a warm profi le that sits

well with the simple grace of this community.

Many homes command inspiring views of the

fairways, and bold vistas of the mountains

and the water. Massive balconies and patios

reinforce the fresh, sunny outdoor living of

this community (especially in the brilliant

summer months). Every condo is equipped

with geoexchange heating and cooling, and

high-calibre details and fi nishings (including

granite counters and stainless steel appli-

ances) make these homes feel truly premium.

The condos range from 754 to over 2600 SF,

and start at $369,900.

For those who want a closer look, the sales

centre is open Tuesday-Sunday 12-5pm and by

appointment. Call 604-948-HOME (4663) or

visit us online at www.TsawwassenSprings.ca

for more information.

A GOLF COURSE IN FULL SWING

Golf is ever present here, even over the

fall and winter with the Springs Snowman

League. The community is built around a par-

70 course that’s walkable, but designed with

the grand feel of a big private course. The

course has been celebrated by residents and

visitors alike. Undulating greens, serpentine

water features, mature trees, and the occa-

sional heron all play against the backdrop

of breathtaking views to the North Shore

Mountains.

The fall and winter have shown to per

form well with an advanced $2 million drain-

age. The system means water disperses more

quickly, leaving fairways playable during and

after rain. This makes for the longest play-

able season in the region. It also protects the

famous wetlands of the region, which has led

to approval by the Audobon society.

Full amenities will open next summer,

including an extensive new community

Clubhouse with restaurant, fi tness, and exer-

cise studios, and a full-service performance

centre.

INVESTMENT IN THE AREA

There is a lot of new investment in this

region at large. The new Tsawwassen Mills

shopping and entertainment complex, for

example, an extensive mixed-use retail, enter-

tainment, outlets, and dining development, is

well underway, and will make the site more

of a destination for the Lower Mainland.

Meanwhile, the new South Fraser Perimeter

Road will allow traffi c to fl ow much more

easily to the area. It’s clear that Tsawwassen

is looking more and more attractive to more

people all the time.

All the same, the quiet, simple, sunny plea-

sures of life in Tsawwassen are eternal, and

the people who live at Tsawwassen Springs

will tell you: They’re glad to have discovered

what many still call “the Lower Mainland’s

best-kept secret.”
