The whole school congratulated CHEYANNA on Assembly this week for being selected in the South Burnett Athletics Squad to compete at the Wide Bay Athletics in Bundaberg on Tuesday 25 June. Cheyanna will be competing in Long Jump. Congratulations! Thomas, a student from Tingoora SS also made the team, and will be competing in Long Jump as well. Well done Small Schools.
Wow. What a successful event! We had a great crew of very cheery mums & dads volunteer to run the BBQ in not so nice weather. It was a great PR exercise for the school. Thank you everyone! We believe approximately $800 profit was made.
President Steve A thanked the P&C members for their great efforts in the running of the BBQ at Bunnings.
Tuckshop – everything is ready for next week’s tuckshop. Mrs Douglas would like to thank parents for their support. Our tuckshops are running very smoothly.
Handball Court re-painting. The P&C has been given a large quantity of non-slip road paint in various colours to re-paint the handball court area. This upgrade will occur
Disco – the P&C is going to book the Murgon PCYC’s Disco trailer for Friday 13 September. We will run a school disco. Will be lots of fun for families.
Looking into a Colour Run fund raiser at the end of the year. Planning to run a Movie Night early in Term 3, depending on
availability & suitability.
The Year 4 – 6 students had a great day today competing in Small Schools teams playing netball, touch football & soccer. Good sportsmanship was reported from all venues. This is very important indeed. No doubt we will have plenty of reports on Assembly on Monday.
A great way to approach learning with students is to use this process……. KNOW – UNDERSTAND – ARTICULATE. If you know and understand what you have been learning, you should be able to articulate your understanding of application of your knowledge. It works.
On Tuesday and Wednesday this week we went to Kingaroy State School to learn how to program and operate robots made out of Lego with engineer Damien Kee. On Tuesday we learnt how to program and work the robots. On Wednesday we had to complete a couple of set challenges. The first challenge was to program a robot to grab and move a cup using a Lego claw.
The second challenge of the day was to come up with a design to move a cap as far as we could. At the end of the day we tied for first place along with Wondai SS and Crawford SS with 28 points. We thoroughly enjoyed this opportunity to learn new things. Written by Tom, Isabella and Wade.
