Jocelyn BerndtstudiedviolinattheConservatoryforeightyears.HerinstructorsincludeI-pinChen,LeoKitijama,andSharonHarman.SheenteredLehighUniversitythisfall.I would love to participate in a chamber group in college. From my experiences at PCM, I realized how fun chamber is. Music has been my safe haven throughout my years of study. When everything in life is hectic, I cherish the opportunity to come and release my emotions through the violin. Being able to express myself with my violin is an experience I will value forever. PCM is all I could have asked for in a music school. Whether it be supporting my learning through scholarships or the love of my violin, or providing amazing chances to view talented musicians and insightful master classes, PCM will forever be in my heart as the place that jump-started my violin career.”

The Conservatory LegacY societY“ I think PCM is an organization that Pasadena needs. It makes a difference. I love

my weekly piano lessons and want to help make sure the Conservatory can serve our community well into the future.”

“ My grandmother introduced me to classical music when the Metropolitan Opera started its weekly radio broadcasts. Saturday afternoons were a special time spent sewing by the radio, and listening to great voices and great music. Music opened a whole world of feeling and experience for me that nothing else satisfied. I want children now and in the future to enjoy that world, and to know its consolation and inspiration over a lifetime, as I have. One of the many things I value about PCM is that students of any age play musically. It’s about so much more than the notes, and somehow PCM students understand and communicate that invisible web of beauty, feeling, and order that is music, no matter their age. PCM is a community of music lovers, as well as an institution that has planted strong and vital roots in Pasadena, and deserves to continue. I love being a part of its past and present, and want to be a part of its future, too. I only wish I could add a few more zeroes to my bequest!”

The Conservatory LegacY societYWhen you let us know that you have named the Pasadena Conservatory of Music in your will or estate plan, you become a member of the Legacy Society.

A planned gift is a wonderful way for generous and forward-thinking friends of the Conservatory to provide for the future of music education in the community. Many future gifts are planned through a simple bequest or by naming PCM as the beneficiary of a life insurance policy. For immediate tax benefits and ongoing control of assets, some donors work with a financial advisor to establish a charitable remainder trust. It is important to consult with your legal or financial advisor when establishing planned gifts.

If you have made a provision for PCM in your estate plans, please let us know. It is not necessary to share the details. We would like to recognize your generosity today for your gift to the Conservatory tomorrow. Organization’s Legal name: Pasadena Conservatory of Music Tax ID: 95-3900207
