GRADUATION IN PHYSICS FROM PRESIDENCY COLLEGE IN THE YEAR 1904

POST GRADUATION IN 1907

IN 1928 HE PROPOSED RAMAN EFFECT

GOT NOBEL PRIZE FOR PHYSICS IN THE YEAR 1930.

RETIRED FROM INDIAN INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE IN1948

DIED IN THE YEAR 1970

HIS EARLIEST RESEARCH AS A STUDENT WAS BASED ON ACOUSTICS AND OPTICS.

HE WAS THE FOUNDER OF THE INDIAN JOURNALS OF PHYSICS

IN 1926.IN 1928 HE PROPOSED THE RAMAN EFFECT.HE PUBLISHED

475 RESEARCH PAPERS AND WROTE FIVE REMARKABLE

MONOGRAPHS.

IN 1928 WITH VARIOUS EXPERIMENTS ON SCATTERING

OF LIGHT HE FOUND RAMAN EFFECT.THIS HELPED HIM IN

INTIATING RAMAN SPECTROSCOPY AND IN PROVING

QUANTUM THEORY OF LIGHT.

HE WAS ABLE TO DETERMINE THEDIFFRACTION OF LIGHT BY ACOUSTICWAVES OF ULTRASONIC AND HYPERSONIC

FREQUENCIES

HE ALSO FOUND OUT THE EFFECTS OF X-RAYS ON INFRARED VIBRATIONS OFCRYSTALS EXPODSED TO ORDINARY LIGHT

HE SHED NEW LIGHT ON THEORY OFCRYSTAL DYNAMICS

STUCTURE OF COLLOIDS

PHYSIOLOGY OF HUMAN EYE AND ITS VISION
