DEFINITIONS
It is communication through any means other than words
It is the transmission of messages by some medium other thanspeech or writing
It refers to all external stimuli other than the spoken or writtenwords and that includes body motion, characteristics of voice,appearance and space distancing
It is the communication that uses non-linguistic means to conveythe message
It refers to the transfer of meaning by body language, space ,time,paralanguage.

GUIDELINES ON EYE CONTACT
If you have trouble staring someone in the eye, look at somethingelse on their face
When speaking to a group look at everyone
Look at people who are the key decision makers or hold power
Look at reactive listeners
Do not look at the floor, scripts or anything that causes you tilt yourhead away from the receiver
Do not look at bad listeners who may distract you

TIPS FOR EFFECTIVE NON-VERBALCOMMUNICATION
A. Observe and understand the non-verbal signals being sent your wayon a moment to moment basis
B. Use good eye contact
C. Stop what you were doing when your listeners look glassy eyed orbored
D. Use the tone of your voice the way a musician uses an instrument
E. Adopt the most appropriate posture that suits the occasionF. Express gratitude to your audience when they are being attentive
