DESTINATION INFORMATION

Along a 22 miles portion of the wonderful Pacific Coast, Huatulco includes 9 spectacular bays with a total of 36 beaches,

waterfalls, lagoons and an eco-archeological park which includes pre-Hispanic ruins as well as several samples of local

flora and fauna. Our tour desk can help you arrange private or group excursions to these wonderful nearby attractions.

Local Points of Interest:

• Copalita Waterfalls – Located about an hour and a half from the resort, these falls are part of Copalita River and offer

the opportunity for swimming, relaxing, swinging, hiking and enjoying breathtaking views of several waterfalls.

• Copalita Eco-Archeological Park – Only five minutes from the hotel, you can experience the recently discovered

ancient city of Copalita, a local settlement more than 2,000 years old, predecessor of the Mixtec culture. This

archeological site is the only one in Mexico hidden in a lush eco-environment; it is filled with hundreds of species of

birds and wildlife. Copalita archeological site is also the only one of its kind along the Mexican Pacific Coast.

• La Bocana – Walking distance from Secrets Huatulco Resort & Spa, La Bocana is a small village where you can

practice surfing, have a mud bath on the beach or roam in the local craft markets. The lagoon located in La Bocana is

a tourist natural attraction due to its spectacular views, water activities and fishing.

• The bays of Huatulco – Climb aboard a comfortable catamaran boat for an unforgettable day exploring the beautiful

bays along Huatulco’s breathtaking coastline. Do not miss the scenic geography or flora and fauna of the region, with

the Sierra Madre mountain range as a spectacular backdrop.

• Sierra Madre Mountains – Spend a full day exploring Oaxaca’s beautiful Sierra Madre Mountains surrounding the

Huatulco area, home to one of Mexico’s finest coffee grains. A little over an hour from the hotel is all it takes to

transport you to this paradise hidden away in the jungle. Along the route into the mountains, you will visit Xadani, a

quaint, 400-year-old village.

• La Crucectia Downtown – A 10-minute drive from the hotel lays the quaint town of La Crucecita where you will find

everything from silver jewelry to Oaxaca handcrafts and black potteries that are an everyday bargain. Make a stop at

the local church to see the largest painting of the Virgin of Guadalupe, and of course you have to try the famous

Oaxaca grasshoppers at the local market.

Secrets Huatulco Resort & Spa now welcomes small dogs (under 22 lbs. or 10 kg) in their accommodations and on

property. This service is available for $65 USD in the required room category. Please contact the resort directly to

• Secrets Huatulco Resort & Spa dog policy allows dogs under 22 lbs. (10kgs) for $65 USD per night, in specific room

categories only.

• Please check with your airline for information regarding traveling with pets, including security and TSA

guidelines.

• Only small dogs are permitted

• Required upon check-in:

o Dog’s name, weight, age, color, and breed for identification purposes during their stay

o Vaccination certificate from veterinarian proving Bordetella and Rabies vaccinations within the past 12 months

o Evidence that a current treatment for fleas and ticks is in use

• No more than one dog is permitted in any guest room. Dog is allowed only on designated dog area(s) of the hotel grounds.

Dogs are not allowed in the Pool, Fitness Center, Spa, Retail shops, and Golf facilities

• Due to local regulations, dogs are not allowed on the beach.

• Dog must be on a controlled leash at all times or in a dog carrier when not in the guest room. Guests are responsible for

cleaning up after the dog on resort grounds and properly disposing waste in designated areas.

• Dogs cannot be left alone in guest rooms for periods longer than two hours. Guest must notify the front desk and hang the

“Dog Friendly Room” door hanger when leaving their dog unattended in the guest room. Guest must answer the cell phone

number provided to the resort while their dog is unattended in case there are any issues.

• Dogs must never be left alone overnight. Please contact the concierge if boarding recommendations are needed.

• Guest room cleaning services will not be carried out unless the guest is present. The dog owner must be in the room if the dog

is present when the guest’s room is cleaned, in order to not frighten the pet and to avoid the risk of a pet’s escape. Please

contact the concierge to schedule convenient cleaning times.

• The resort reserves the right to request the dog's removal if the above guidelines are not adhered to.

TEMAZCAL EXPERIENCE

The traditional, renewing Temazcal ceremony is led by an Intercessor, or healer, and is one hour long. The ritual will

begin with a blessing from the Intercessor, and one by one, guests will enter the Temazcal structure, sitting in a circle

for the healing ceremony. The shelter will be filled with hot stones and the Intercessor will guide participants through

the spiritual ritual, involving aromas, herbal steams, sounds and sensations.

The Temazcal is now part of the Unlimited-Luxury® inclusions at Secrets Huatulco Resort & Spa, at no additional cost.
