CONSTRUCTION SURVEYING

AND SETTING OUT TASKS

Construction surveying is essential for the control

of any kind of construction process, like tunnels,

mines, shafts, bridges, dams, roads, buildings or

other structures. The most basic task is to stake

out points and markers that serve for guiding the

construction of new structures according to the

design. Further tasks are the survey of existing

conditions of the work site including topography

and existing buildings and infrastructure before

construction, the verification of the location and

dimension of structures during their construction

and the as-built survey and documentation after

construction.

In underground construction highly-specialized

surveying methods and equipment are required to

guarantee the surveying performance and accuracy

needed.In this field of application, construction

surveying often includes the setting out of

geometrically highly-complex 3D objects such as

portals, banks, foundations, pile walls, vertical and

inclined shafts, pipe umbrellas, tunnel niches and

cross-cuts, inner shells and frameworks, tunnel

floors, carriageways, tracks, drains, boreholes and

many more.

free stationing) we take care for an optimal

integration into the construction process and

to achieve best synergies, for example with

3D displacement monitoring. Setting out can

be performed by our experienced staff or, in

special cases, by site staff when operating

our automatic setting out system KRIOS.

During and after construction, we check and

document the project (e.g. by using ou r tunnel

laser scanner ORTHOS) to assure the quality of

the entire construction.

Tunnel and Underground Construction

We offer object-specific setting out and

surveying for earthwork and construction

of engineering projects such as excavations,

embankments, bulkheads, diaphragm walls,

piles, foundations, roads and building site

installations, open cut excavations, cut-

and-cover constructions, slope protections,

disposals, portals, galleries, dams, bridges and

other high-rise buildings.

For earthwork, we survey the surface, generate

elevation models, calculate volumes and

masses and provide a reliable base for billing.
