  • Graduated with a MSc. Architecture (Arch. Desing & Arch. Engineering) at the Technical University of Madrid (ETSAM)

    in january 2014.

Throughout my academic years, I have worked as a freelance offering collaboration to some companies and practices, including a recent partnership with ESTUDIO

ANDRADA in the resolution of an international architecture competition.

During my Erasmus scholarship at the Universit IUAV di Venezia, I developed a growing interest in the presence of architecture in rural and urban environments, which led me

to deepen in the fields of landscape and restoration.

This portfolio is a selection of the work developed during my academic and professional career.

Poised on one of the best places of the Costa Brava. A dramatic east-facing site, high above a rocky bay and commanding long views out to the sea, through lush pine-trees and a sloping topography. In 1959, the Spanish architect, Jos Antonio Coderch, designed 131 apartments and an 80-room hotel in this amazing setting, providing the germ to this actual project, redefining the concept of holiday housing.

The design concept emerged from the need to achieve quality housing with a compact develop-ment, landscape integration, and optimized apartments. It will promote a lively community where people can live, and enjoy life in a vernacular Mediterranean environment. The scheme comprises a series of narrow-long east-facing naturally spread apartments, some of them, facing down, taking advantage of the breathtaking cove views, and others looking at the skyline of the Mediterranean Sea.

Coastal traffic has been kept inland, far away from the seafront, to create a calm and pollution-free environment for the community. Residents are encouraged to leave their cars under the shade structure of the car park at the condominium entrance, and take advantage of a series of outdoor terraces and promenades to access into the apartments, dying over the waterfront, giving the ten-ants the chance to choose between grained sand open beaches, and the sheltered rocky coves from the south coast.

There are 3 types of apartments, which can be combined to satisfy the client desires. Two of them are single levelled, and the other one sloped, are disposed into staggered floors with a central wet core that provides the ability to make spaces become multifunctional, by sliding and folding furni-ture and underneath the floor. The house is then understood as a fragmentable unitary space adapt-able to everyday seasonal circumstances, with one big eye that provides dominant views through the house and the Mediterranean landscape.

Cantarranass Park is one of the grand Madrid campus but over the time, the site has become inac-cessible to pedestrians and has been cut off from the life of the city, becoming a residual space. The masterplan of the Complutense Campus regeneration will reclaim the park as a civic space, creating new informal venues for performances and events and removing traffic to create a safe and public realm.

The schem integrates an abandoned pine area, a former rugby field and some wilderness and resid-ual spaces. This zones together, enclose an area in excess of 150.000 square meters. It comprises an urban-scaled park that can accomodate a varied programme of events and exhibitions, while provid-ing an attractive landscaped setting for the buildings within the campus and bring the countryside into the city. Conceived as a center of connection between faculties, a series of terraces (sculpted and carved into the terrain) and promenades, will link the cultural buildings providing a range of outdoor singular places to live and gather.

Complutense campus lies in an austere landscape with an ihospitable climate that can generate tem-peratures of -10 C in winter and +40 C in summer. The garden is designed to provide a confort-able microclimate all year round with deciduous tree rings shading on summer but not on winter. Further, the water feature poised towards the predominant winds, refreshes the environment in summer, while providing a humid - not too cold - atmosphere in winter.

The campus will not exacerbate Madrids water shortage, instead maintaining and augmenting the proportion of green space through which water can be get harvesting rainwater on roofs, roads and available space.

Nowadays there are many factors that determine the well being of a person. Therefore, there are many social groups. Many of these, are considered excluded groups and have no access to minimum services that everyone should have. The project, located in the north of Spain, aims to be a city in transition. Its primary goal is to solve a social and economic problem that many people suffer, and offer them a new future throughout a transition in this place.

The site presents a group of deserted factories that need to be restored. The project is thought as eight transversal elements that break the existing factories at different points. All these pieces create movement in the existing buildings because of their position. The scheme must be capable to relate past and future, and create a whole city for excluded groups.

The north of Spain is well-known for their shipyards and steel production factories. This is why the pieces that cross the factories are design using lightweight steel structures. The transversal existing walls of the factories are eliminated, creating a continuous and flexible space that holds training centers and cultural areas to provide a better future for excluded groups.

This hotel is located on a prominent island in the heart of the Venetian Lagoon, near to Venices east-side. It will provide a new landmark while forging a dialogue with the historic Venetian archi-tecture. The design concept emerged from the way the own Venice city was born - a group of adding volumes that over the years, generated the wonderful city it is nowadays.

Regarding to the project, the scheme comprises an elegant cluster of interconnecting boxes that combine to form an organized mixture of 80 bedrooms, restaurants, bars, spa and a conference fa-cility, all of them plugged around a swastika-shape corridor. As the rest of the Venetian islands, the access to the complex is just by boat, through a hollow entry at the west side part of the site, where emerging platforms provide a transition from the water to the main entrance. At the back, a four storey volume rises up containing the rooms, while the other facilities spread at its feet.

The hotel will offer an unprecedented level of luxury every guest room will benefit from fine views over the Venice Lagoon. The building will also incorporate a number of progressive sustainability strategies, including the maximization of natural light and ventilation. From the outside, the white polished concrete boxes of the hotel will blend with the surrounding architecture of pietra distria, and the water will subtly reflect the uniqueness of this leisure realm at the heart of Veneto.

This project is the result of a research on the use of new materials and their implementation in an innovative way in future constructions.

This amoeba seeks to colonize the existing gaps in buildings or urban spaces to provide floor space available to the public in order to accommodate social or cultural activities.

The structure consists of a series of carbon fiber hinged rings with anchored glass fiber knots, where translucent silicon plates are embed as a skin. Inside, a truss stiffens the structure on which lays a lightweight flooring.

The challenge was to project a new wing with the limited situation of the existing pharmacy. Analy-sis showed that the main entrance was being underused. More clients and potentional ones wanted to enter the pharmacy by an oposite door next to the car-park. Without this new access the pharma-cy was loosing clients. This project is about its reinvention.

Most walls were preserved in order to minimize construction time and remain under the budget, but the demolishment of the staircase to the top floor, and its relocation were a must as it was cross-ing the new gallery.

The palette of material combines timber slatted ceiling and hydraulic tile floors to create a sense of intimacy and warmth. Everything, from the bespoke cabinetry with integrated LED lighting to the long counter that provides an informal sales area and place to sit for the staff, was designed in exacting detail.

The museum and cultural center has to have the power to become a very strong social focus in the community and to represent the Bauhaus system.

This project aims to establish a strong link between the public environment (the garden) and the city life. The ground floor will be used both for public functions as well for internal workshops and exhibitions. The foyer gives direct access to the auditorium, exhibition, workshops, cafe and shop areas.

The creation of this urban context was a powerful influence and was an integral part of the project. Our approach has been one of substracting volumes to create entrances and public spaces. The sub-stracting volumes also relate to the existing site planning restrictions and the capacities of the estruc-tural grid. We have created a public open space inviting and activated by a visitor center, auditorium and staff entrance. In the other face, that recieves more direct sunlight, has a cafe and more intimate landscaping with seating and green areas.

Concieved as a DOOR, the new building is clad in aluminium whose colour complements the villas. The challenge was to relate the new to the old, but at the same time to create a buiding that represented its own age with integrity.
