Education (Reading & Literacy), Capella University, MN had 2 years experience teaching in Costa Rica before becoming our second grade teacher. As a seasoned teacher, Ms. Jacobson presented a grammar lesson to teach singular and plural nouns using The Protégé Effect (learning by teaching). She taught her students a simple melody accompanied by hand gestures; one finger for singular nouns and a cascade of multiple fingers for plural nouns. Then, they paired up to imitate Ms. Jacobson to teach each other. Students had to recall the concept, understand the material, and effectively apply it.
