TRANSCRIPT
Brokers put Ballston in the minds of companies such as
Amazon, Accenture, Evolent Health, DARPA and others looking
to relocate or renew Ballston leases. They connect people to
Ballston through programs that make it stand out among other
great places to work nearby.
FAIRFAX DRIVE
The Ballston BID is transforming Fairfax
Drive into our grand boulevard. The
new gateway signage invites people
to Ballston and defines the sense of
place. In addition, the BID repaired
the crumbling medians and installed
a new pedestrian fence for safety.
“ I have worked with Piedmont Office Realty Trust for 10 years.
We own and manage two buildings in Ballston, and our tenants
love all the amenities, the Ballston BID activities, the convenience
of the metro and all that Ballston has to offer.”
Cheryl Dennis, Piedmont Office Realty Trust
“ Cybraics is a cyber-analytics company, and we are using a combina-
tion of machine learning and artificial intelligence to detect threats for
our customers. Ballston has been great for us. We have found it easier
to find top talent here in Ballston than in other places and our staff
loves working here in Ballston with access to everything.”
Rich Heimann, Chief Data Scientist, Cybraics
The Ballston BID accomplishes its goals in partnership with an engaged
community of stakeholders. Property managers work with Ballston
tenants to make sure they are happy in addition to attracting new
tenants. They are a main source of information for tenants in their
building and operate as our direct connection to Ballston employees.
They work through details with potential tenants, put bids out for
service on the property, and collaborate with many people in the
community including the Ballston BID.BANNERS
Next on the BID’s placemaking
efforts are custom-designed,
patent-ready, eco-friendly banners.
These will start with an installation
on Fairfax Drive and work their way
around Ballston—with a long-term
plan for these to be illuminated.
WAYFINDING SIGNS
The BID replaced the outdated
and weathered directional
signage with district maps
around Ballston and built
awareness that timely
neighborhood information
is available via
BallstonConnect, the
BID’s mobile app.
Ballston is one of the most creative communities in the US, and the
BID works to be as creative as the companies here–constantly imagining
new and innovative programs that are reflective of the talented people
working in Ballston.
FUTURE DEVELOPMENT
Thanks to owners and developers,
Ballston will have over 2,000 new
apartments, 480,000 square feet
of new retail, and 550,000 square
feet of additional commercial/
educational space within the next
few months to 5 years.
FOOD TRUCK DAYS
New and increasingly popular, Food Truck
days deliver more dining options to tenants
located near Ballston’s I-66 gateway off
Fairfax Drive. Numerous food trucks offer
a variety of cuisine and enticing options to
hundreds of people during the spring and
summer months.
FARMERS MARKET
The Ballston Farmers Market has become
a signature program for the Ballston BID
and operates from April through October. It
has grown to 20 vendors and contributes
3,230 pounds of food to the Arlington Food
Assistance Center.
HAPPY HOURS
Sip & Mingles are held quarterly in office
building lobbies, vacant commercial spaces,
and restaurants around Ballston. These
free, pop-up happy hours connect people
who live and work in Ballston, highlight
venues, and give people an opportunity to
learn what’s happening in the neighborhood
from the BID.
BALLSTON360
Experience Ballston like never before using
our new interactive mapping tool on the BID’s
website. Ballston360 highlights all aspects
of Ballston from our iconic real estate, to our
endless transportation options, to all the
different amenities we have to offer.

mega festival outside on Wilson Boulevard
has supported the Arlington Food Assistance
Center over the years and will continue to
give back to local charities through the BID’s
charitable arm, BallstonGives.
