AYC Wins 2012 Inter Yacht Club Bridge Tournament

In grand slam fashion bridge champions, Elsie Kuhn and Sandy Burns took first place in the 2012 Inter Yacht Club Bridge Tournament hosted by Ocean City Yacht Club last September. The dynamic duo is perfecting their game during Monday night bridge; doubling their chances for a repeat victory at this September’s tournament to be held at our club. Sandy and Elsie are pros and know all the tricks to keep that trophy in the Avalon showcase. We bid them good luck in the upcoming tournament.

Summer Entertaining: A Cooking Demonstration with

Alex Saggiomo On June 29th the Women’s Auxiliary was treated to an amazing cooking demonstration by the charming and talented Alex Saggiomo. We were greeted with refreshing cocktails, sampled fantastic sweet and savory dishes, received great cooking tips, and made to feel like we were at home in Alex’s personal kitchen. We would all love to see Alex as the next “Food Network Star!” Thank you to Lynn Saggiomo and Marianne O’Shaughnessy for arranging this delightful event. As promised, Alex will share his recipes with the attend-ees beginning with this Topsider. Take note, Alex is avail-able for private/corporate parties, cooking lessons, and as a personal chef! HOUSE TOUR HUGE SUCCESS The weather outside was frightful but the house tour was still delightful! The annual tour and luncheon is one of the most highly anticipated events of the summer and this year’s tour did not disappoint. In between raindrops, members and guests had the privilege of viewing some of the most spectacular homes the island has to offer. Our day took us from bay to oceanfront views, historical landmarks to the “70s,” and breathtaking new construc-tion to old world charm in the dunes. Does anyone else have house envy? On behalf of all the tour participants I would like to thank our event chairs, Suzanne Cunningham and Ann Marie Ryan, the homeowners who graciously allowed us to peek inside their shore castles, our house captains and hostesses, and Peter Mark and his staff for the wonderful luncheon. This beloved event could not have taken place without you. Susan
