National Chlamydia Coalition Meeting 2012
Provider Education Committee
What are the major actions we plan to take in 2012? Begin Update of Why Screen? – revisions to begin and be
reported at March meeting Update Health Care Provider Resource guide as precursor
to electronic Provider Toolkit – resource guide to be sent to entire committee and updates compiled by March meeting
What partners and resources are we going to need? Research Translation committee to provide recommended
articles for inclusion into Tool Kit Public Awareness Committee advice on vetting process for
materials in CRE
Provider Education Committee
How are we going to work with the other NCC committees? Representative to Steering committee to interact with
other committee reps

How are we going to meet one other coalition-wide objective (working with the private sector or promoting health equity)? Work with Private Sector through State networking project

Public Awareness Committee
What are the major actions we plan to take in 2012? Improving and Extending the Chlamydia Resource
Exchange Improving layout Outreach strategy (internal and external)
Setting a goal for uploads Improve review criteria and process Sustainability
Fiscal Staffing Creating linkages to other sites
Challenge all NCC members to upload public awareness materials by the end of February!
A call for topic-specific materials as issues arise (adolescent confidentiality)

What partners and resources are we going to need? Analyze membership gaps within the committee
Members with marketing and grant writing experience Look at grant writing
Fold into overall coalition grant writing endeavors

How are we going to work with the other NCC committees? Explore mechanisms to integrate and collaborate with the
Provider Education Committee Working with the SPG: Focus on gathering materials to
help adolescents (and their parents) understand their rights about confidentiality put on CRE

How are we going to meet one other coalition-wide objective (Membership)? Membership objective: Add questions at the end of the
CRE submission form to see if “uploaders” are interested in NCC membership
Research Committee
What are the major actions we plan to take in 2012? Officially change name to: Research Translation Committee Complete outstanding briefs and articles from 2011 Rename Article of the Month and Research Brief (Expert
commentary and Hot Topics) Use template for future briefs to keep focus for the reader
(obj, audience) Solicit topics and issues for dissemination and translation
from other committees “Expert commentary” posted on the website in addition to
the newsletter What partners and resources are we going to need?
Provider Ed Committee Private sector collaboration for dissemination

How are we going to work with the other NCC committees? Cross-pollinate Ask other committees: What are topics and issues that
need translation and dissemination? How can we help you?
Sit in on other committee calls and report back Theme research briefs and articles of the month around
other committee activities (supplemental) How are we going to meet one other coalition-
wide objective? Private sector: Make products more appealing with format
changes and feedback Health equity: potential hot topic issues. (ectopic
pregnancies)
SPG: Adolescent Confidentiality
What are the major actions we plan to take in 2012? Talk with AMA about coding and billing strategies and
bring other groups to the table like ACOG Collect and disseminate information and create a hub of
information on the NCC website for people working on this issue
Tell stories and disseminate best practices for protecting confidentiality--school-based health clinics, STD clinics, private health plans
Come back to the consumer point of view and figure out a way to help adolescents understand that they can get confidential services
Telling stories from parents’ point of view: parents who want confidential services for their children
What partners and resources are we going to need? Professional medical groups Health Plans (start with AHIP)
SPG: Adolescent Confidentiality
How are we going to work with the other NCC committees? All of our ideas connect to the other committees; it’s a
cross-cutting issue
How are we going to meet one other coalition-wide objective (working with the private sector or promoting health equity)? AHIP is on our committee and wants to work as a partner
