THE HOBOKEN MODULE YARDIn late 2012, Cofely Fabricom invested €3.2 million to expand its main Module Yard at Hoboken in Belgium. Hoboken produces prefabricated modules that can stand 26 metres high and weigh thousands of tonnes. Hoboken, which focuses on mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and piping works, is now fully equipped for its fast-track projects.

HUMBER GATEWAY (219 MW)United Kingdom

The Humber project (219 MW) consists of 77 3 MW-turbines built by E.On in the Humber Estuary, in the Northeast of England. Cofely Fabricom was in charge of the design, construction, transport and commissioning of the offshore substations, while our partner CG is taking care of the onshore substation. The wind farm generates enough power to supply up to 170,000 homes.

LONDON ARRAY (630 MW)United Kingdom

Built by Dong Energy, E.ON and Masdar, London Array is to date the world’s largest wind farm, spanning 100 km2 in the Outer Thames Estuary. As many as 175 wind turbines supply enough power for nearly half a million homes a year. Cofely Fabricom formed a joint venture with Geosea and Iemants to design and install two offshore stations.

BELWIND (165 MW)Belgium

Belwind is a two-phase project, located on Bligh Bank, 46 kilometres from the Belgian port of Zeebrugge. It was for Belwind that Cofely Fabricom designed and developed the concept of the Offshore High-Voltage Substation. Belwind supplies power to350 000 homes.

WEST OF DUDDON SANDS (389 MW)United Kingdom

Cofely Fabr icom has bui l t, integrated, tested and commissioned the high-voltage substation and its foundation that have been installed at the West of Duddon Sands offshore wind farm, built by Dong Energy and Scottish Power Renewables. The substation consolidates the output of 108 turbines with a total installed capacity of 389 MW.

BUTENDIEK (288 MW)Germany

Cofe l y Fab r i com i s pe r fo r m ing the engineering, procurement, construction, transportation, installation and commissioning of the offshore substation and its foundation for the WPD Butendiek project, which is due to be completed by September 2014. Cofely Fabricom will also construct the modules with the electrical equipment for the 80 turbines.

AMRUMBANK WEST (288 MW)Germany

Amrumbank West GmbH (E.On Climate & Renewables) has developed the Amrumbank West project in the North Sea, which has a planned capacity of 288 MW. Cofely Fabricom is performing the engineering, procurement, construction, transportation, installation and commissioning of the offshore substation and its foundation as well as the 80 modules to be mounted in Wind Turbine Transition Pieces.

LUCHTERDUINEN (129 MW)The Netherlands

Eneco/Mitsubishi and their EPC contractor van Oord will build the Luchterduinen project (129 MW), which will have 43 turbines each generating 3 MW. Cofely Fabricom will be responsible for the design, construction, transport, installation and commissioning of the offshore high-voltage substation and for the onshore control room.

GEMINI (600 MW)The Netherlands

In mid 2014, Cofely Fabricom, in a joint venture with CG and Iemants, is to start building two offshore 600 MW substations and one onshore station off the Dutch coast. Each offshore station will be linked to the onshore station by a 120-km cable. The wind farm is due to go into operation in 2016 and will supply electricity for 800,000 homes.

YOUR PROJECT FROM A TO Z

CONSTANTLY INNOVATING

0-250 250-1 000 1 000-2 000 2 000-3 000

Cofely Fabricom is a major player in the growing European offshore wind-farm sector, thanks in large part to its experience in building onshore and offshore modules for the oil and gas industry as early as the 1980s. The company’s multi-disciplinary expertise and know-how in offshore maintenance and services enabled it to develop reliable, cost-effective solutions for the offshore wind industry from the moment demand for renewable forms of energy began to grow. Constantly seeking innovative solutions, it developed the concept of the Offshore High-Voltage Substation (OHVS) to optimize exporting power from a wind farm.

Cofely Fabricom went on to design, build and install substations on the London Array, the world’s largest wind farm, and continues to supply OHVS modules to other wind farms around the UK and off the coast of Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands.

Our capacity to take an OHVS project from the initial feed studies through to operation and maintenance and to guarantee on-time delivery has greatly contributed to increasing the number of wind farms calling on our involvement. We also lead and manage a large number of partnerships and consortiums, and are appreciated by clients for our fl exible attitude.

Cofely Fabricom has developed the WTG E-Modules concept that contains all electrical equipment and components to be installed in the transition piece of the WTG foundation.

Completely prefabricated in order to minimize the offshore works, the module contains, depending on the project, the MW switchgear, lighting, access control, navigation aids, SCADA, LV distribution,… This concept has already been applied for the Amrumbank and Butendiek projects.
