The question is…

Is it an invasion of privacy for businesses to

look at private social media pages?

the person whose privacy has been

invaded a right to bring a lawsuit for

damages against the person or

entity that intruded…”

“It encompasses workplace

monitoring, Internet privacy, data

collection…”

So when did this…

…involve these?

• Facebook started out small

• Twitter was not launched

• Twitter growing

Social Media Bombardment

Managers viewing publicly available

Facebook and Twitter accounts

An increase in both aspects

• User allowing activity to be seen

• Managers can easily view

Public Page

• Done to keep private

• All entitled to private livesPrivate Page

Facebook was designed in a way that allows

users to limit their profiles availability

That makes employer’s asking to view employee’s private

pages, or for their password…

an invasion of privacy
