David H. King, President and CEO of Alexander Haas, has lived in Atlanta and been in the fi eld of nonprofi t development for more than 25 years. In his 21 years at Alexander Haas, David has provided counsel to more than 125 organizations in the areas of higher education, independent schools, hospitals, conservation, human services, churches and faith-based organizations. David’s fundraising expertise and qualifi ed client success has led him up the ranks at Alexander Haas, where he now leads the staff of the highly-qualifi ed Partners and forward thinking fundraising professionals in Atlanta.
David is past President of the Board of the Greater Atlanta Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. He currently serves as Vice Chair of the Giving Institute: Leading Counsel to Nonprofi ts and is on the Board of the Giving USA Foundation. David has authored articles featured in Fund Raising Management Magazine and The Chronicle of Philanthropy as well as contributing information for two recently published books: Black Tie Optional and the Essential Principles for Successful Fund Raising.
Jason Sabo has spent his entire career in the nonprofi t sector and is known around the country as an effective strategist, community organizer and coalition builder. He is a sought-after consultant and speaker on education, human services and nonprofi t issues. Jason currently leads United Ways of Texas’ lobbying and advocacy and provides advocacy support to numerous nonprofi t organizations and foundations throughout the United States. He is a frequent speaker on nonprofi t lobbying, education, and human services issues in Texas and across the nation. Prior to joining United Way and launching
Frontera Strategy, Jason worked in and around the Texas capitol for fi ve years as a policy analyst and lobbyist. Jason has worked as a teacher in the United States and Brazil and has also coordinated community-based youth employment, dropout prevention, and immigrant family literacy programs. He is a Fellow of the Center for Lobbying in the Public Interest and the Center for Public Policy Dispute Resolution. Jason holds a Master’s degree in History from Indiana University and lives in Austin, Texas.
Robert Egger, Founder and President of the DC Central Kitchen, the country’s fi rst “community kitchen”, where food donated by hospitality businesses and farms is used to fuel a nationally recognized culinary arts job training program, where unemployed men and women learn marketable skills while donations are converted into balanced meals. Since opening in 1989, the Kitchen has produced over 23 million meals and helped 800 men and women gain full time employment. The Kitchen operates its own revenue generating business, Fresh Start Catering, as well as the Campus Kitchens Project. Robert’s
book Begging for Change: The Dollars and Sense of Making Nonprofi ts Responsive, Effi cient and Rewarding For All, was released in 2004 by HarperCollins. It received the 2005 McAdam Prize for “Best Nonprofi t Management Book” by the Alliance for Nonprofi t Management. Robert was included in the Non Profi t Times list of the “50 Most Powerful and Infl uential” nonprofi t leaders from 2006-2009. He was the recipient of the 2004 James Beard Foundation “Humanitarian of the Year” award.
Bob Deans spent nearly three decades as a newspaper reporter, including stints as the Chief Asia Correspondent, based in Tokyo, for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and other Cox newspapers. He has also been based in New York, Atlanta, Charleston and Washington, where he has covered foreign policy, economic affairs, Congress and the White House. He is a former president of the White House Correspondents’ Association and author of the 2007 book, The River Where America Began: A Journey Along the James. In 2009 Deans joined the Natural Resources Defense Council, the
nation’s leading environmental advocacy organization, where he is associate director of communications. He has co-authored two books at the NRDC. The fi rst, Clean Energy Common Sense: An American Call to Action on Global Climate Change, makes the case for a clean energy future. The second, published in 2010, is about the BP oil spill: In Deep Water: The Anatomy of a Disaster, the Fate of the Gulf and Ending Our Oil Addiction.
Janine Lee is a veteran strategist and grantmaker in philanthropy, with more than twenty fi ve years of rich and diverse leadership with nonprofi ts and foundations; as well as experience in prevention, youth development, education, community building and non-profi t effectiveness. Janine is currently the President and CEO of the Southeastern Council of Foundations, which is a membership association of grantmaking foundations based in 11 southeastern states. SECFs mission is to champion excellence in all philanthropic activities and promote the creation of new charitable resources in the region. Prior to
joining SECF, Janine served as the President and CEO of Southern Partners Fund, a public foundation established in 1998. During her four years at SPF, she provided leadership to create awareness regarding issues of persistent poverty, poor education systems, and racial isolation that continue to persist throughout the rural South. In her role, Janine also enhanced SPF’s programs through the creation of Young Leaders for Social Change, and the Social Justice Institute.

Andrea Berry, Idealware’s Director of Partnerships and Learning, oversees Idealware’s fundraising and training activities. Andrea travels the country training nonprofi ts on technology best practices, specializing in fundraising and communications. Andrea has worked with thousands of nonprofi ts to help address mission-centric technology issues.
Anita Floyd, Vice President for Community Impact at the United Way of the Midlands in Columbia, directs United Way’s community work in six counties. She has over 20 years of experience in community development with particular expertise in homelessness and housing. She is an experienced trainer and facilitator.
Anita Garrett, CEO of The Weathers Group, oversees operations, marketing and business development. The Southern Community & Faith-Based Network (SCFBN) is the fi rm’s latest initiative, working to build the capacity of organizations across the Southeast. A business veteran and social entrepreneur, Anita has worked with organizations throughout the USA to enhance program effectiveness, develop policies and facilitate public/private partnerships.
Ann Timberlake is the Executive Director of the Conservation Voters of SC since its founding in 2003. Ann was educated in Columbia public schools and graduated from Tulane University with a BA in History. She championed the protection of the Congaree National Park and owned the Purple Cow Grocery. Ann is married to Ben Gregg and has two grown children.
Anne Sinclair, Resource Associates, Inc., has a diverse background in organizational development, strategic planning, resource development, board development, board training and confl ict management. Anne works with family businesses, partnerships, non-profi t organizations, and government agencies. She served on Columbia City Council for twenty years and holds degrees from Winthrop and Clemson Universities.
Antonio B. Boyd, Vice President, North American Programs of HOPE worldwide, ltd., oversees HOPE worldwide’s 118 Chapters in the USA and Canada. He gives technical assistance and training in non profi t leadership, developing grants and funding relationships with federal, state, and local government agencies, school districts, and local communities. His expertise includes governmental and intergovernmental relations, securing government grants, and contracts, and forming community-based collaborative social/community services.
Betty Plumb is Executive Director of the South Carolina Arts Alliance, the state’s primary arts policy and advocacy organization. The Arts Alliance is nationally recognized for developing an extensive grassroots advocacy network in support of the arts and arts education completing many successful advocacy efforts at the state and federal level.
Bonnie Adams Kapp is Executive Director of New Morning Foundation, a grant-making and advocacy organization based in Columbia, whose mission is to advance the reproductive and sexual health of South Carolina’s young people. Bonnie has deep experience in non-profi t fundraising, organization management, strategic planning and strategic philanthropy. She currently serves as advisor to two philanthropic funds and on the board of the Darby Family Foundation.
Bryan Cordell has served The Sustainability Institute (SI) as Executive Director since 2006. During that time, SI has become nationally recognized for its energy conservation programs, ‘green’ workforce training, and community engagement efforts. Bryan frequently presents across the state on topics of sustainability and serves in a number of Board and advisory roles.
Cathy Easley is the VP of Safety Net Services for Trident United Way in Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester County. She is responsible for implementing CharityTracker, The Benefi t Bank-SC and the Safety Net Assistance Network which includes churches, non-profi ts and faith based organizations. Currently, TUW is implementing Financial Stability Centers in Moncks Corner and Summerville.
Cathy Sharp is director of the South Carolina Field Offi ce for the Corporation for National and Community Service. She has over 20 years experience administering federal volunteer programs and grants in the non-profi t sector. Cathy holds a BS degree in Applied Arts and Sciences and a graduate degree in Gerontology.
Cayci Banks is the Director of Communications for the SC Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy. She holds a BA in Communications from Newberry College and oversees all public awareness activities of the SC campaign including media outreach and communications, advocacy and development.
Charles C. Weathers, Sr. is a proud veteran of the USAF and founder of The Weathers Group. He’s a successful organizational development consultant, executive coach, educator and speaker. His keen facilitation skills and business acumen provide a strong foundation for helping organizations and groups improve their performance.

Charlotte L. Berry, Ex-Offi cio- United Way of America, has been involved in service projects and volunteering for most of her life. Charlotte is the former National Chairperson of the Volunteers for the American Red Cross. She serves on the boards of dozens of community organizations, including United Way Association of SC, Palmetto Health Foundation, and Junior Achievement of Central SC.
Cindy Moore is the Chief Financial Offi cer, responsible for the fi scal management, of the SC Offi ce of Rural Health including all grant programs and contracts. She also serves as the Director of Human Resources for the SC Offi ce of Rural Health and is on the Audit Committee for SCANPO and on the Lexington Medical Center Foundation’s Cancer Care Committee.
Colleen Campbell Bozard is president and owner of ccbozard consulting, a fi rm that specializes in assisting non-profi t and government agencies and community groups and organizations with organizational development, governance, community partnerships, strategic planning, program development, and leadership. She has almost 30 years of experience in the nonprofi t arena as an Executive Director, board member and consultant, which combined offer a unique perspective.
Cookie Sprouse, a native of Orangeburg, SC, is the Executive Director of The Chapin Foundation, Myrtle Beach, SC (2001-present). Her previous leadership includes Executive Director of the Arthritis Foundation, Chattanooga, TN (1999-2001) and The Ferree Foundation, Asheboro, NC (1986-1999). One of her passions is board development, with a special emphasis on emerging leadership.
Dana Morgan is an Account Manager with DNA Creative Communications, a public relations and marketing fi rm that partners with nonprofi t and government organizations that enhance the quality of life and economic health of our State. DNA focuses on developing strategic communications plans for organizations and assists them in sharing their brand effectively.
Debbie Nelson, founder and principal of DNA Creative Communications located in Greenville, SC. DNA is a public relations and marketing fi rm that partners with nonprofi t and government organizations that enhance the quality of life and economic health of SC. Debbie is a graduate of Leadership South Carolina and the 2010 recipient of the Community Foundation of Greenville’s Creative Spirit Award.
Denise Hill, CPA, has more than 16 years of public accounting experience with Elliott Davis. She provides comprehensive tax services to a variety of not-for-profi t entities, including charter schools, public universities, foundations and membership organizations. Denise worked in a tax department of a national accounting fi rm for approximately eight years before joining Elliott Davis.
Dick Butcher has served as CFO of the United Way of the Midlands for the last seven years. He currently serves on the United Way Worldwide Financial Issues Committee and is currently chairing the Grants Subcommittee. He is one of the authors of the NORI Toolkit.
Doug Snyder, CPA, has served SC nonprofi ts for more than 25 years. He is a CPA Ambassador selected by the American Institute of Certifi ed Public Accountants, speaking frequently to groups on governance, accounting, and fi nancial topics. Doug is on the SC Secretary of State’s Nonprofi t Advisory Commission. He is a graduate of The Citadel and currently Chairman of The Citadel Board.
Doug Taylor is the Chief Program Offi cer for the SC Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy where he directs the SC Campaign’s Capacity Building and Research and Evaluation Departments. He has 19 years of experience working in public health in SC with a focus on STD/HIV and teen pregnancy prevention.
Ed Mulherin, CPA, Esq started eCratchit, one of the fi rst outsourced bookkeeping companies in the country. Ed is a CPA and Attorney and one of the founding shareholders in Leonard, Mulherin & Greene, PC - a 30 person full service CPA fi rm that provides high quality tax and accounting services and that also has a very strong specialty in nonprofi t auditing and consulting.
Edward Conroy, CPA is the CFO of Central Carolina Community Foundation (CCCF). Prior to working at CCCF, Conroy served as the Executive VP and CFO of a regional distributor, and as a senior tax accountant at Elliott Davis, LLC. He received his undergraduate and Master’s degree from USC.
Forrest Alton is the CEO at the South Carolina Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy, and for the past decade has been involved with the agency’s statewide efforts to reduce teen pregnancy. He serves on multiple boards and advisory committees at the state and national level. Forrest received his undergraduate degree at Coastal Carolina University and his Masters Degree from the USC Arnold School of Public Health.

Frank W. Fusco’s primary career interest is organizational performance excellence. He has 37 years of experience in the legislative and executive branches of state government, including auditing, budgeting, performance improvement and leadership roles. He serves on the National Baldrige Foundation Board and the SC Quality Forum. Awards include the Milliken Medal of Quality and the Distinguished Public Service Practitioner.
Frank Wideman has served since 1993 as president of the Self Family Foundation in Greenwood SC. He is a founding member of the South Carolina Grantmakers Network. Frank serves on the boards of the Southeastern Council of Foundations, the National Center for Family Philanthropy, the Upper Savannah Land Trust, and York Place Episcopal Home for Children.
Dr. George Stevens is the CEO and President of the Coastal Community Foundation, a public nonprofi t organization that links donors to nonprofi t causes. Through the Foundation donors create endowments that support charitable causes now and forever. Dr. Stevens has worked in the non-profi t sector his entire adult life, serving in senior management roles in academic institutions, research organizations, and museums.
Dr. Graham Adams serves as the Chief Executive Offi cer of the South Carolina Offi ce of Rural Health, a not-for-profi t statewide entity that works to improve and enhance rural health delivery in South Carolina. Dr. Adams has provided leadership for many public health and access improvement projects and currently serves on the advisory and governing boards of numerous state, regional and national initiatives
Jan Pomerantz provides a range of services for nonprofi ts, foundations, government entities and social benefi t companies including retreat and meeting facilitation, board and staff development training, and strategic planning, collaboration, and restructuring services. An experienced lawyer and senior executive, Jan has led several nonprofi t and for-profi t teams and organizations.
Jeffrey Moore has served as Executive Director of the South Carolina Sheriff’s Association for more than thirty years. He is responsible for the development and oversight of the association budget, training and publications. He represents the association’s interests on various state and national policy and advisory committees concerning the ongoing evaluation of the criminal justice system.
Jesse T. Risher, Community Facilities Program Director -USDA Rural Development, administers community facilities direct loans, loan guarantees and grants which are used to construct, enlarge, extend, or otherwise improve community facilities providing essential services in rural areas and towns. Rural Development has a mission to create economic opportunity in rural communities and improve the quality of life of the citizens in those communities.
Jessi Knight has served US Senator Jim DeMint for 6 years, currently as his State Scheduler and State Projects Director. In this role, she oversees all SC grants and assists, educates and connects grantseekers with federal programs and partners. She is a 2006 graduate of Furman University and lives in Greenville, SC.
JoAnn Turnquist is President & CEO of Central Carolina Community Foundation, a $100MM nonprofi t organization that serves the Midlands of SC. Ms. Turnquist is a member of the Columbia Rotary Club and on the boards of the Richland County Public Library, New Morning Foundation and United Way of the Midlands.
Joe Bonner, after 30 years of fl ying aircraft for the United States Air Force, retired in August 1996 with the rank of Colonel. He then worked as a fi nancial consultant for Merrill Lynch in Spartanburg, SC. In 2000 he began working for both the Fullerton Foundation and Hamrick Mills Foundation in Gaffney, SC where he still serves today as their Executive Director.
John Reeves, Area Manager for Enterprise Holdings, has been a United Way donor for the past eight years and involved with YLS for the last 5 years. I have been a United Way donor for the past 8 Years and involved with YLS for the last 5 years. This past year he was charged with Chairing YLS and has grown membership to almost 500 members. He has lived in the Columbia area for 8 years.
Kelly Albanese designs and helps manage CCS’s marketing program which includes online initiatives, direct mail, advertising, conference sponsorships, and special events. She also oversees media relations for the company. Kelly previously worked with CCS’s nonprofi t clients as an Associate Director.
Lea Harvey is the Vice President for Development at Resources for the Future (RFF), a nonpartisan environmental policy research organization founded in 1952 and based in Washington, DC. Prior to joining RFF, Lea was the Vice President for Development at BoardSource, and has held a variety of fundraising positions, including Director of Foundation and Corporate Relations, at World Wildlife Fund. She is a native of the SC Lowcountry.

Lesley Snyder is responsible for new media plan development, implementation and upkeep; digital strategy and corporate/special communications at CCS. Prior to joining CCS, Lesley worked in both the nonprofi t and public sectors.
Lowndes Macdonald is the Director of Development of the Columbia Museum of Art where she supports the Museum’s mission to celebrate outstanding artistic creativity through its collection, exhibition and programs, interacting in ways that engage the mind and enrich the spirit. She began her career in advertising in Los Angeles. Moving back to SC, she used her skills in marketing and business development at the Columbia Museum of Art to increase membership and begin her fundraising career.
Pamela Jacobs is the Executive Director of the South Carolina Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault (SCCADVASA). SCCADVASA provides technical assistance, training, legislative advocacy, and systems advocacy to eradicate sexual and domestic violence. Pam is an attorney and advocate with over ten years experience in the non-profi t victim advocacy fi eld.
Paula Harper Bethea became the second Executive Director in the Lottery’s history in September of 2009. Paula chairs The Caring Coins Foundation on Hilton Head Island, First Financial Holdings, Inc. and its subsidiary, First Federal of Charleston, and serves on the board of the MCI Heritage Classic Foundation. In 2006, Paula was named SC Business Leader of the Year. She is Chair Emeritus of the United Way of America Board of Governors.
Peggy Eagan is an accomplished public speaker, grant-writer, facilitator and lobbyist. She holds a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Indiana University, was named Woman of the Year by the Indianapolis Star in 1996, and has served on the Board of Prevent Child Abuse America. She currently is the Executive Director of the Children and Family Service Center in Charlotte, NC.
Reid Lehman is President/CEO of Miracle Hill Ministries, which was awarded the SCANPO award for Excellence in Nonprofi t Management in 2004. Reid has served the organization since 1980 & in his current capacity since 1985. He holds a Master’s Degree in Business Management from Winthrop University. Reid, his wife, Barbara, and their two sons live in Greenville, SC.
Rick Noble is currently serving as the CEO of Richland County First Steps. He was most recently Director of Development for Midlands Technical College. He began his career, as the President of Madison House, Inc. Dubbing himself a social architect he is involved in non-profi t leadership, management, marketing, development, and advocacy activities.
Roy Kramer serves as Executive Director of the Central South Carolina Habitat for Humanity - an affi liate of Habitat for Humanity International - with responsibility for Richland and Lexington counties where it is estimated that 1 out of every 4 families lives in poverty. He is an active community member, serving on the board of several nonprofi ts.
Shannon Flynn joined the SC Campaign in 2008 as the Director of Research and Evaluation where she oversees the evaluation of two federally-funded projects and several projects funded by state and national foundations. Shannon graduated from Columbia University with a Masters degree in Social Work.
Tammie Hoy is a Regional Community Development Manager for the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond at the Charlotte Branch. Tammie is responsible for community economic development outreach and education for NC and SC on behalf of the Richmond Fed. Formerly she served as the Executive Director of the Lowcountry Housing Trust and led the organization to receive Community Development Finance Institution designation from the US Treasury Department.
Timothy M. Ervolina, President of the United Way Association of SC, leads and develops public policy for all United Way agencies in the state. Tim previously served as executive director of the United Way of Greenwood and Abbeville Counties. He is passionate about creating long-lasting opportunities for everyone to have a good life through education, income and health.
Tom Keith has over 30 years experience in nonprofi t management. He is currently the president of the Sisters of Charity Foundation of SC. Tom serves on Winthrop University Foundation board and on South Carolina Center for Fathers and Families board. He is a member of Grantmakers in Health and the Southeastern Council of Foundations. He is also a founding member and former chairman of the SC Grantmakers Network.

Tonia Zampieri is Founder of The M Gen, LLC, a fi rm offering mobile products and services to the nonprofi t sector. She has 10 years of digital fundraising & marketing experience, and launched one of the fi rst nonprofi t Smartphone apps, Tap-n-Give on iTunes in 2009. Her book on The Mobile Generation will be available Spring/Summer 2012.
Tricia Richardson serves as Director of The Benefi t Bank of South Carolina, and has more than 22 years of experience in capacity building, community development, volunteer training and mobilization for non-profi ts and faith organizations. She specializes in developing and implementing strategic community involvement plans, as well as managing long-term relationships within an organization and the community.
Valaida Fullwood is the Charlotte contributor for the popular national blog BlackGivesBack.com and a founding member of the giving circle New Generation of African American Philanthropists. She recently authored Giving Back, a book that was named one of the “10 Best Black Books” of 2011. She blogs at valaida.com and can be found on Twitter at @ValaidaF and @BlkGivesBackCLT.
Dr. Vicki Young is the Department Head for Clinical Quality Improvement with the SC Primary Health Care Association. She is responsible for establishing and recommending policies and procedures that enhance quality improvement structures and standards of performance. Dr. Young has also worked at the community level with the implementation of health education programs and on the academic level as an instructor and assistant dean with the SC College of Pharmacy.
Cindy NeSmith has over 25 years experience in nonprofi t management. Cindy is a Certifi ed Fund Raising Executive and owner and principal of C.M. NeSmith Consulting, LLC a full-service company providing fundraising expertise, nonprofi t management, board development, grantsmanship, training, and public relations to nonprofi t organizations. She was the 2005 president of the Central Carolina Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and serves as Secretary/Treasurer of the SC Planned Giving Council.
Maria Hargrave DeHart has been a professional fundraiser for over 20 years. She is a current member of Association of Healthcare Professionals, President for the South Carolina Planned Giving Association and board member for Youth Corps. She volunteers with United Way of the Midlands and has served as Chapter President of Association for Fundraising Professionals Central Carolina Chapter.
Missy Ryan is a nationally recognized development professional who brings over 13 years of development experience with large universities, colleges, hospitals, private schools, and social service organizations to Clemson University as the Senior Director of Development for the College of Business and Behavioral Science. She was named one of six “Fundraising Stars” nationally in 2010 by Fundraising Success Magazine as well as named AFP’s Fundraising Executive of the Year for the Upstate of SC.
Tish Lynn is a northern transplant who has lived in Charleston for the past thirty-one years. She served as Director of Marketing and Communications for the Coastal Community Foundation as well as Director of Development for the Coastal Conservation League. Tish has been Resource Development Coordinator at the Center for Heirs’ Property Preservation for the past two years.
Cyndi Beacham is President of the Charles Lea Center Foundation located in Spartanburg, SC. Cyndi is active in community affairs currently serving on a number of boards including the Board of Directors of the Kiwanis Club of Spartanburg, the Board of Directors of the Piedmont Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and the Regional Fellows Program at Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System.
Joy Simpson is a Certifi ed Fund Raising Executive with 20+ years experience in all aspects of development, including annual campaigns, capital campaigns, major gifts, planned giving, special events, public relations, and communications. Joy is also active with the local chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and served as chapter President in 2007.
Mary Katherine Marshall has worked in the non-profi t sector for 8 years with organizations ranging from health and human service providers to cultural organizations. Mary Katherine has been an AFP member since 2005 and has served on the Central Carolina Chapter’s Board as Treasurer, Member at Large, and most recently as Chapter President.
Rachel Hutchisson is the Director of Corporate Citizenship & Philanthropy at Blackbaud, Inc. She is responsible for the technology company’s global corporate citizenship efforts as well as programs that support the corporate brand.
