The properties of colour
We use comparison to describe colours: apple green, sky blue, poppy red, etc.
A more correct way to define a color, is to describe its properties.
The three properties of colour are
HUE, VALUE and SATURATION
![Page 8: color](https://reader033.vdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022060110/555afceed8b42ae0418b457a/html5/thumbnails/8.jpg)

![Page 10: color](https://reader033.vdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022060110/555afceed8b42ae0418b457a/html5/thumbnails/10.jpg)
What is the value?
Value describes the darkness or lightness of a colour.
• color + white = tint• color + black = shade
![Page 11: color](https://reader033.vdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022060110/555afceed8b42ae0418b457a/html5/thumbnails/11.jpg)
Tints are lightened colors.
Colors mixed with white are called tints
