The new £165 million Victoria Gate Shopping Centre has opened its doors to the public for the first time on 20th October 2016. The complex, which houses the first John Lewis store in West Yorkshire was opened by Welcome to Yorkshire

CEO Gary Verity. INTRAsystems could not be any prouder to collaborate with Victoria Gate in installing INTRAflex XT Heavy Duty Entrance Matting with a unique chevron design and Waterflow Drainable Matwell Base.

Designed by Scott Brownrigg and constructed by Interserve, the new £30m Spark Teaching Building for Southampton Solent University provides state-of-the-art facilities and innovative teaching space.The redevelopment incorporates a stunning atrium, which will form the central hub of the new teaching and conference facilities. Measuring 18 metres across and 80 metres long, it will include a distinctive multifunctional suspended ‘pod’ with a viewing platform above. As well as providing a strong sense of arrival, the full height atrium is the heart of the building which will be used by the University’s students every day. The INTRAform DM Entrance Matting was installed by GCF Ltd to multiple entrances around the building and is fundamental to keeping the internal floors safe and clean.

Gracing the entrance floor of the new Herzog & de Meuron-designed Tate Modern extension, the INTRAmatting Waterlogic and INTRAflex XT Heavy Duty Entrance Matting ensures foot-borne soil and moisture are kept at bay. The Tate Modern

is the world’s most-visited gallery of modern art, requiring a heavy-duty flooring solution that was capable of withstanding the many thousands of visitors while simultaneously complementing the contemporary feel of the gallery.

Designed by Uruguayan architect Rafael Viñoly it has certainly left an indelible mark on London’s urban fabric and is here to stay – with 14,000 sq. ft. of retail space and 674,000 sq. ft. of office space, the building requires highly effective entrance matting to ensure soil and moisture is kept out of the building even at peak times of the day

We have taken the leap into doing the most personal project to date. Our very own offices. With this new office, we aim to boost productivity and become more agile in our working. This new office will also act as a showroom which will showcase the flagship products that we sell and the types of services we can offer our clients. The photos above are at the end of 2016 when we were dismanteling the office.

London Bridge station is being transformed, with new platforms for more trains, a new concourse, and generally a bigger and better station for passengers. It is the fourth busiest station in the country, bringing around 56 million passengers into the city each year; keeping it clean and safe was the job of the INTRAform DM Heavy Duty Entrance Matting.

Whether it’s Oscar winning actors, gold medal winning athletes or virtuoso musicians we can be sure they amongst many other glamorous celebrities have walked across an entrance mat. They could be walking into their favourite restaurant, or shopping in a shopping centre or checking-in at a fancy hotel. Although it may not be the most glamorous product, Entrance Matting play a pivotal role in keeping you, me and the glamorous safe. But the product that does all this doesn’t get much recognition, how can we make matting more glamorous? This blog looks at just that.

Firstly, the purpose of an Entrance Matting System is to reduce the ingress of foot borne soil and moisture, therefore, keeping the internal floors clean reducing cleaning and maintenance costs.Secondly, law requires owners of buildings to keep the occupants of their building safe, it is therefore imperative that the correct Entrance Matting is employed. A good entrance mat not only contributes to a safe environment but also to cleaner air quality. Research suggests that up to 90% of all dirt present on the floor has been walked in from the outside. This is a lot of dust particles in the air, waiting to attack the users!

Thirdly, choosing the correct Entrance Matting is dependent on many factors such as the volume of Traffic, the type of Traffic, the external environment the Internal Environment. Having the knowledge of the Zonal System is critical.

Voted as the best department store in the world, the glamorous Selfridges store in Oxford Street is a landmark for London which employs entrance matting to keep the 20million+ footfall safe. Similarly, all shopping centres value clean, visual appearance; for Victoria Gate this was a crucial element. INTRAsystems worked hand in hand with designers to implement a unique chevron design which not only adds an aesthetic value but contributes to the longevity of the Matting and flooring products.

Premium material can contribute to the matting’s aesthetic appeal. Material such as Aluminium which has strong aesthetic proposition can be used. Stainless Steel is another material that carries the premium tag offering fantastic functionalities. To make things more glamorous a bespoke solution combined with the help of material such as bronze anodised, wood, or stone flooring can be employed. The combination of all these material and premium inserts means that we can make an entrance fit for a king!

Charity NewsCharity is something INTRAsystems take very seriously. Offering ongoing support to the likes of Parkinson’s UK and Get Kids Going. With approximately 127,000 people in the UK suffering from this disease, this was something we wanted to get involved in.There’s currently no cure, but drugs and treatments are available to manage many of the symptoms. With this in mind we recently raised £640.00 for Parkinson’s UK.
