Wood REALTORS, Bonita Springs, FL34134 Michael Burke Estero Grandezza Grande Estates In a time when Floridians are thinking twice about buying property, Europeans and Canadians are ignoring the hype, and shelling out the cash. All across Western Europe the mantra is to 'go west'. From the U.K. to Holland to Spain, Europeans are now the major players when it comes to purchasing second homes, vacation rentals, and investment properties. "The United States is a very attractive buy to Europeans," says Michael Burke, a Realtor with John R. Wood Realty, "We have something unique to offer they can't find overseas"… and he's not just talking about our weather. According to the National Association of Realtors foreign real estate investment in the U.S. increased 8.5% from 2004 to 2005 rising to $1.87 trillion, a national record. Although our beautiful beaches and warm climate is a major draw to foreign buyers, it's our weak dollar that has them crossing the Atlantic in search of a home. "The pound is at its highest point in 27 years and the Euro is strong against the dollar, the homes in Florida are considered affordable to Europeans", says Burke. To many foreigners, the United States has become the ideal vacation destination and eventually retirement home. And when you compare the numbers, you can see why. In London a modest single-family home costs about $600,000. A similar home would go for a third of that price in Naples. In addition to our 'bargain priced' homes, realtors say Europeans love the lifestyle and attitude only found on the coast. "What's interesting is that the weak dollar is now bringing new buyers into the housing market and what that's doing is introducing demand to actually balance out the supply," says Burke. "Foreign national buyers are introducing demand and it's helping the markets keep a sense of calm." International real estate remains in high gear and seems to be one of the only facets in real estate to come away from the housing crash unscathed. "Demand is five to ten times higher than it was at this time last year. As real estate prices are increasing abroad, many folks are getting priced out of their own neighborhoods and see the U.S. as an attractive diversification of their overall real estate portfolio", Burke explained. International home sales in Florida have increased steadily over the past 5 years, and continue to climb. The most recent statistics available from 2005 show more than 82,000 homes were sold to international homebuyers in Florida. So what about U.S. investors who don't have a strong currency advantage to boost their investments? Advice from analysts about when to get back into the housing market ranges from right away to five years down the line. "There is no doubt that this is a buyer's market, but when exactly the bottom will be reached is the subject of debate" says Burke. "The recession in the housing market has gone on longer than anyone anticipated, and the uncertainty has caused many investors to be nervous. However don't forget the bottom line is that long term, real estate has always been a terrific investment for homeowners. Spectacular custom built, open great room floor plan, with 3 Bed+Den, 3 bath, 2939 under air and 3925 total sq ft . The recent volatility in thestock market has everyone alittle jumpy - even folks whohave worked with a trustedfinancial planner for years. Butif you've never worked with aplanner before, one of the firstthings he or she will do is makeyou fill out a risk analysisquestionnaire.

Why is risk analysisimportant before you makedecisions with your money?Risk tolerance is an importantpart of investing - everyoneknows that. But the real value ofanswering a lot of questionsabout your risk tolerance is totell you what you don't know -how the sources of your money, the way you made it, howoutside forces have shaped yourview of it and how you're

handling it now will informevery decision you make aboutit in the future. The most important thing a riskquestionnaire can tell is what'simportant about money to you.Trained financial advisers candetermine your moneypersonality through a process ofquestioning discovery. Plannerscan then guide investors withintheir money personality. Do youwant certainty, are you willing totake a little risk or let it rollbecause "you can always makemore of it?"

A financial planner tries tosee through the static to find outwhat you really need to create asolid financial life. But it mightmake sense to ask yourself a fewquestions before you and yourplanner sit down:

1. What's important aboutmoney?

2. What do I do with mymoney?

3. If money was absolutely notan issue, what would I do

with my life? 4. Has the way I've made my

money - through work, marriage or inheritance -affected the way I thinkabout it in a particular way?

5. How much debt do I haveand how do I feel about it?

6. Am I more concerned aboutmaintaining the value of myinitial investment or makinga profit from it?

7. Am I willing to give up thatstability for the chance atlong-term growth?

8. What am I most likely toenjoy spending money on?

9. How would I feel if thevalue of my investmentdropped for severalmonths?

10. How would I feel if thevalue of my investmentdropped for several years?

11. If I had to list three things Ireally wanted to do with mymoney, what would theybe?

12. What does retirement meanto me? Does it mean

quitting work entirely anddoing whatever I want to door working in a new careerfull- or part-time?

13. Do I want kids? Do Iunderstand the financialcommitment?

14. If I have kids, do I expectthem to pay their own waythrough college or will I payall or part of it? What kindof shape am I in to affordtheir college education?

15. How's my health and myhealth insurance coverage?

16. What kind of physical andfinancial shape are myparents in?One of the toughest aspects

of getting a financial plan goingis recognizing how yourpersonal style, mindset, and lifesituation might affect yourinvestment decisions. Afinancial professional willunderstand this challenge andcan help you think through yourchoices. Your resulting portfolioshould feel like a perfect fit foryou!

(NUI) - Today, there is anoverwhelming amount of mediaoptions available for businessesto tout their latest products. And,regardless of the medium, manybusinesses are set on choosingWeb site addresses they feel arememorable, but why shouldphone numbers be any different?

According to Ron Henson, the general manager of a Utahauto dealership, incorporating avanity phone number into histeam's marketing plan a phonenumber that spells out wordsincreased his call volume by 650percent.

"We are shattering previoussales records by 50 percent, and Iattribute this success to our newadvertising which prominentlyfeatures a vanity-800 number,"Henson said.

If you're looking for betterways to get the word out, thefollowing tips will help youreceive higher response rates inyour advertising and hone yourmarketing efforts to generatemore leads and sales:• Say it in a song. Everyone

loves a good jingle. Usingjingles in radio and televisionads creates an emotional

connection to the consumerand can last for years ifcorrectly used to brand yourbusiness.

• Say it loud and proud. Putyour vanity phone number oneverything from business cardsto company cars. Feature it inradio, print, television andbillboard advertising. Usingyour number in all advertisingmaterials and in all campaignsdelivers consistent messaging.

• Prominent placement.Feature your vanity-800number prominently on the TVscreen. Leave it therethroughout a televisioncommercial. Mention it at leastthree times in a radio ad.Above all, make sure it is

easily visible or heard.• More impressions, more

responses. One-off ads willnot work. Make sure that youhave a moderate-to-heavyadvertising schedule no matterwhat medium you have chosento convey your message.Buying more time or spacewill also decrease the cost perad, and your vanity-800number will increase yourability to generate leads andsales. Delivering a consistentmessage multiple times willensure that consumersremember you.

(ARA) – Oh, theholidays … a time whenthe social calendarseems endlessly filledwith work parties, gatherings with oldfriends and annualfamily get-togethers.The pressures of thehectic holiday seasoncan often make personalgrooming and stylingplay second fiddle --right along withgrandma’s yearly fruitcake. If you want to ensure

your aunt doesn’t makeyou the talk of the familygossip trail this year, working to achieve aclean overall look shouldbe the goal this holidayseason. For women, thatmay mean a fresh, newhairstyle. For men, itmeans understanding

that actually looking like SantaClaus can make not only smallchildren cry, but quite possiblycolleagues, friends and familymembers as well. Here are somesimple grooming tips to help youlook your best at your nextholiday get-together.

Cut it out: It is said thathaving a great hair style can saveany bad outfit. That said, it’simportant to start by getting afresh, new cut and style.Remember this is not the time todo anything drastic. We’relooking for simple, classic looks. It’s important too for women toask their stylist for tips on howto achieve and maintain the styleon their own at home. “Getting astylish cut and maintaining it canbe two completely separatetasks,” says Richard Marin, celebrity stylist. “It can bechallenging to recreate the salon-styled look the next day, butRemington Products makes it

easy by offering a variety oflines that help women easilyachieve that look on their own, every day.

D.I.Y.: If a new cut is notgoing to fit in the busy calendaror tight holiday budget, then justusing some of the newest hairtool innovations like Nano Silvercan help women create a cleannew style. The new Nano Silverstraightener from Remingtonuses the technology that is saidto cleanse the hair of micro-impurities with anti-microbialpurifying properties leaving hairhealthy, beautiful and shiny.

Clean it up: Some menlook at the cold winter months asan excuse to slack on theirgrooming habits, even claimingthat the extra hair is grown tokeep them warm. While thatexcuse may fly at the North Pole, nothing looks better than afreshly shaved man. If menwon’t dare to bare it all, then use

a grooming tool that allows forvarious length blade adjustments-- giving men the choice to stillhave that 5 o’clock shadowscruff, but with style.

Take it off: The cold, harshwinter months can cause men tohave dry and sensitive skin. Toprevent the irritation and not-so-flattering rash, consider usingantimicrobial groomingproducts. The RemingtonCleanXchange is the world’sfirst electric shaver to featureNanosilver technology and offera fully disposable, exchangeablehead, good for up to 30 shaves. Not only does this mean menwill have a clean shave everytime, with reduced redness andirritation, but it’s easy andconvenient, eliminating anymessy cleanup from brushing orcleaning out the shaver head.

f a s h i o nHow to Look Your Holiday Best

(ARA) – Winter is the toughesttime of year on your skin.Cool, dry conditions leaveyour hands and feet prone topainful cracks, splits andflaking. The dryness alsomakes the wrinkles you’vebeen trying so hard to ignoremore prominent.

Don’t just sit back andtake the abuse! There are somesimple things you can do togive your skin a fightingchance against the elements.

What your mother told youis true. Diet has a lot to do withit. Eating lots of fruits andvegetables will provide yourskin with the proper nutrients

to fight off crows feet andnasal labial folds; butaccording to Dr. Steven Lamm, author of several anti-agingbooks, diet alone is notenough.

“As we age, the bloodbecomes less efficient atdelivering the essentialnutrients to the skin,” he pointsout. So what’s a gal to do? Dr.Lamm says the key to lookingyounger is bringing a widevariety of essential vitaminsand minerals directly to theskin with the help of anenriched moisturizing creamlike Dermalastyl-B.

Originally intended as a

material that could be used toassist with tissue and organregeneration, clinical testingproved that Dermalastyl alsohad a future in the cosmeticsindustry. Participants in a 2006study in Manhattan reported aglow to the skin uponapplication and a hydratingmoisturizing effect that lastedall day thanks to the cream’smain ingredient -- a bio-available source of elastin, theprotein that makes the skinelastic.

While the directions on thetube recommend daily use,Burt Ensley, CEO of thecream’s manufacturer,DermaPlus, says most peopleuse it at least twice a day.“Once in the morning to serveas a protective agent for theskin, shielding it from windand damaging UV rays fromthe sun. Then at night they putit on again to serve as a meansfor providing the skin with thenourishment it needs.”

Dermalastyl is notavailable in stores. It is onlyoffered through themanufacturer’s Web site. For alimited time, you can get a freesample by logging on towww.dermalastyl.com orcalling (800) 335-8312. Allyou have to pay for isshipping.

BARKING UP THEGREEN TREE

(NUI) - While many people areaware of how their own lifestyleaffects the planet, they may besurprised to learn how much ofan environmental "paw print"their four-legged familymembers are leaving behind.

According to AnthonyZolezzi, eco-entrepreneur andauthor of "How Dog FoodSaved the Earth," there aremany "green" changes you canmake in and around your hometo safeguard your pet's diet andenvironment.

"When it comes to savingour planet, the focus has alwaysbeen on our own carbonfootprint but I would challengeyou further to look at the carbon"paw print" your family pets areleaving behind, and examinetheir role in protecting our Earthfrom excessive pollution," saidZolezzi.

Through Zolezzi's work, which involves promotingsocial responsibility and greenprograms, he got involved withlaunching one of the first petfoods on the market with U.S.source-verified meat andpoultry Pet Promise.

"When we purchase naturaland organic products fromfamily farmers who supportsustainable agriculture, we alsosupport a cleaner environment. Our pets can help make adifference when we feed themfood products sourced fromthese same family farms," saidZolezzi.

The sale of Pet Promise hashelped eliminate more than 88million doses of antibiotics inthe food chain and 15 milliondoses of artificial growthhormones fed to cattle. Throughthis endeavor, Zolezzi and histeam have helped support morethan 1,500 U.S. family farmerswho are committed to thehumane treatment of animalsand using natural andsustainable methods to protectthe environment. For moreinformation, visitwww.PetPromiseInc.com.

Here are some additionaltips to help you keep your pet'senvironment chemical-free andgreen:• Stay off the lawn. Keep your

animals away from the lawnor garden when treating themwith fertilizers, pesticides orinsecticides until it driescompletely.

• Don't clean house and playfetch. Never allow your petaccess to areas you arecleaning. Some cleanersmight only cause a mild upsetstomach, but others couldcause severe burns of thetongue, mouth and stomach.

• Keep the garage clean. Storeall automotive products suchas oil, gas and antifreeze inareas away from pets. Justone teaspoon of antifreezecan be deadly to a 7-poundcat, and less than onetablespoon can be lethal to a20-pound dog.

(ARA) - Want to cover yourhome in the latest shade ofbarn red or hunter green? Putaway your paintbrush!Smart homeowners arefinding that the easiest wayto get -- and keep -- today’sfresh colors is with certifiedvinyl siding.

Whether you’rebuilding the home of yourdreams or remodeling thehome you love, you want acladding with distinct colorand curb appeal. But if yoursiding requires constantmaintenance to keep up itsappearance, your dream canbecome an expensivenightmare. To ensure that yourvinyl siding is made to last, make sure it’s backed by athird-party certificationprogram for quality, which theVinyl Siding Institute has hadin place for a decade.

VSI’s Vinyl Siding ProductCertification Program waslaunched in 1998 as a way formanufacturers to certify, through independent testingand verification, that theirproducts meet or exceed thequality requirements of theASTM D3679 standard.Certified vinyl siding issubjected to a dozen differentperformance measurements and

tests simulating wind, weatherand even the impact of a hard-hitting hammer.

Products certified throughVSI’s program pass this batteryof tests and submit to twiceyearly unannounced plantinspections. They also meet theInternational Building Coderequirements for siding to becertified by an independentquality control agency.

There are more than 1,000different vinyl siding productscurrently certified throughVSI’s program. What’s more, nearly 300 different colors ofthese products have beencertified for color retention. Inaddition to passing the qualityrequirements of ASTM D3679,

each color must undergo atwo-year, outdoorweathering study, toensure that it meets therigorous requirements ofASTM D6864, the colorretention standard forvinyl siding.

“Sunshine, rain, orwinds of more than 100miles per hour won’tweather certified vinylsiding noticeably,” saysJery Y. Huntley, VSI’spresident. “Vinyl sidinghues certified for colorretention have been tested

in a variety of climates to resistmajor color changes over thecourse of time. That meanssimple, periodic washing cankeep your siding looking asbeautiful as the day it wasinstalled.”

Sedona Red. Oxford Blue.Irish Linen. Summer Wheat. Those are just a few of thehundreds of vinyl siding colorscertified for color retentionthrough VSI’s program. Theycan give your house long-lasting beauty, whether youwant the newest shade on theblock or are looking to preservehistoric accuracy. (NUI) - It's a primary cause ofindoor allergens in the winter, itfilters through the air bothindoors and out, and it cancause serious health problems.Mold a dreaded houseguest, cangrow on almost any surface, especially damp ones. Thinkyou're safe?

According to the AmericanLung Association and the U.S.Consumer Product SafetyCommission, one-third to one-half of all structures haveconditions in which mold cangrow and thrive.

And while therecommended way to treatmold is by eliminating thewater or moisture source in thearea, how do you safely and

effectively remove moldthat has already grown?

Many products on themarket are eitherineffective, limited towhat type of surfacethe mold is growing

on or toxic. As a result, cleaning mold yourself can betaxing and even frustrating.

Red Reef Laboratories,Inc., however, has developed anew, unique system calledBioClear that utilizes RedReef's products to eliminatepathogens, reduce allergens andminimize cross-contamination.This non-invasive and highlyeffective system is still non-toxic, biodegradable and safe touse in poorly ventilated areas, making it a breakthrough in themold-cleaning market.

And since cleaning mold isonly half the battle, Red ReefLaboratories offers these tips tokeep mold at bay in your home:• Check to be sure your

indoor humidity is between30 and 60 percent. You cancontrol this with air

conditioning and adehumidifier.

• Add extra insulation toareas, such as windows, thatcreate condensation.

• Be on the lookout forstanding water. Airconditioning or refrigeratordrip pans can be a problem.

• Look up. Regularly checkyour ceiling for leaks ordrips.

• Open doors inside yourhome, such as betweenrooms and those to closets, that will help keep the aircirculating properly.

• Use area rugs. These canregularly be washed, whichhelps avoid any mold growth.

• Fix any leaks immediately.

thoroughly. Make sure tires areproperly inflated, fluid levelsare full, lights are all operatingproperly and engine belts andhoses are in good condition.

• A common cause of cold-weather breakdowns is a weakor dead battery. Indications ofa battery that may needreplacement include a startermotor that cranks the engineslowly and headlights that dimwhen the engine speed dropsto idle.

• If you are unsure about anyaspect of your car's mechanicalcondition, a local AAAApproved Auto Repair facilitywill be happy to help you.

Before you head out on theroad, remember the following: • Check the weather conditions

along your route beforedriving long distances.

• For safety, carry a cellularphone to call for help in anemergency.

Make a Connection With Your Teen(NUI) - Talking with teenagersabout their health isn't always aparent's or a teen's favoriteconversation. But parents havemore influence on their teen'shealth than they think, accordingto researchers with thePrevention Research Centers(PRC) network.

"While some adolescents arevery skillful in convincing us thatwe are no longer pertinent intheir lives, we make the mistakeof believing that," says MichaelResnick, Ph.D., an adolescenthealth researcher and director ofthe PRC at the University ofMinnesota. "The researchdefinitely contradicts thatcultural stereotype."

Dr. Resnick has found thatteenagers who feel they can talkto parents and other caring, competent adults are more likelythan other teens to be protectedfrom suicide, eating disorders, emotional distress, risky sexualbehaviors and substance abuse.

Despite some appearances, most teens say they do want closerelationships with their parentsand care what they think.

"The parents sort of set thepatterns," said Kristina AnnJareno, 16, a high-school seniorin Long Beach, Calif., whobelongs to the youth advisoryboard of the PRC at theUniversity of California at LosAngeles/RAND. She says shesees parents making decisionsabout nutrition and physicalactivity that affect her friends, such as choosing whether toemphasize sports, to drivechildren to activities and topurchase healthy foods.

Although friends, oldersiblings and older cousins arerole models, Jareno said herparents are the reason she studieshard in school and stays awayfrom negative peer pressure.

"My parents are the mostinfluential people in my life," shesaid.

Mark Schuster, M.D., Ph.D.,director of the UCLA/RANDPRC, provides the following tipsto help parents discuss topicssuch as fitness, nutrition, sex andsubstance use with teens:• Start talking about health when

children are young, and keep

the lines of communicationopen. Never tell a child he orshe is too young to ask aquestion, but use age-appropriate answers.

• Instead of criticizing a teen allthe time, notice your childdoing something good, andoffer a compliment.

• Ask questions that can open aconversation, such as "Whatdo you think about that?" and"What's on your mind?"

• Let your teen know why youwant to have the conversationwith phrases like "I want tounderstand the things you'regoing through," and "There is alot of misinformation outthere."

• Listen without interrupting orjumping in with advice.Rephrase what your child saysto be sure you understand whatyour child means, and let himor her know you are listening.

• Help your children learn tomake decisions on their own.Let them come up with optionsfor solutions, go through theoptions with them, and havethem pick one that seems best.

Then you can chime in withyour thoughts.

• Teach your childrenassertiveness skills that willhelp them avoid unhealthybehaviors.

• Never underestimate a parent'spower of example.

The PRC network comprises33 academic research centersaround the country, supported bythe Centers for Disease Controland Prevention. Eight of thecenters focus primarily onadolescent health. For moreinformation, visithttp://www.cdc.gov/prc.

(NUI) - Anyone who's kept acrisp, clean Babe Ruth rookiecard tucked away for safekeeping knows about thebenefits of purchasing a classicitem it retains value over timeand can provide a significantreturn on the originalinvestment.

Whether searching for aprized oil painting at an auction, looking for antique furniture atan estate sale or purchasing aluxury automobile through acertified pre-owned program, more people every day arefinding value in classic, high-quality products. One exampleis a high-performance car suchas a Mercedes-Benz. Seventy-four percent of all Mercedes-Benz vehicles sold in the UnitedStates are still on the road todaya testament to what constitutesenduring value and quality.

Finding a classic isn'talways about buying somethingbrand new. Whether you'researching for a top-of-the-line

w a t c h ,jewelry ora nautomobile,it makessense thatthe best-k n o w nb r a n d smake some of the best pre-owned products. However,finding a quality pre-ownedvehicle can be tricky. Here are afew tips that can help make thisprocess easier:• Do your research. A wealth

of information about pre-owned vehicles is availableon the Internet, from pricingthe blue book value at Websites like www.kbb.com togetting vehicle history reportsfrom outlets likewww.carfax.com.

• Review products in person. After a little backgroundresearch, it's important tofollow up with an in-personvisit. Using the information

that youfound online,in thenewspaper orby word ofm o u t h ,c a r e f u l l yexamine theinterior and

• Make sure the car isinspected by a professional. Before you write that check, have your mechanic inspectthe vehicle. Or, for additionalpeace of mind, considerpurchasing your new carthrough a certified, pre-owned program such as theone offered by Mercedes-Benz. Through it, vehiclesmust meet stringent criteria

and pass a rigorous inspectionprocess including a bumper-to-bumper inspection of theappearance and mechanics ofthe car.Making sure yourvehicle has received athorough inspection will saveyou time and money.

"Because only selectvehicles are eligible for theprogram, our clients are findingthat using the Certified Pre-Owned program is an excellentway to experience theperformance, safety and style ofMercedes at a price similar tosome new, non-luxury vehicles,"said Niles Barlow, GeneralManager of Pre-Owned & FleetOperations, Mercedes-BenzUSA.

Finding a timeless classic, such as a luxury automobile, at asignificantly reduced cost can behighly rewarding. For moreinformation on certified, pre-owned vehicles, visitwww.mbusa.com.

(NUI) - While it has long been aproblem in hospitalsnationwide, Staphylococcus, commonly known as a staphinfection, has become athreatening issue in anotherfrequented location the hallwaysof schools.

Several high schools in theWashington, D.C. area recentlyreported multiple cases ofM e t h i c i l l i n - R e s i s t a n tStaphylococcus (MRSA), astrain of staph that is considereda "superbug" and extremelydrug-resistant. The alarmingincidents have had many parentsand concerned communitymembers wondering how tokeep future occurrences of staphfrom becoming a daily concern.

"Keeping our children andteachers safe from contagiousbacteria like staph is highlyimportant especially with thenews of outbreaks across thecountry," said Dr. ClausWagner-Bartak, president ofRed Reef Laboratories. "Ourfamily of BioClear products hasbeen specifically designed to

combat harmful bacteria likestaph in a non-toxic,biodegradable manner."

Staph bacteria is commonlyspread through close contact andby indirectly touching infectedclothing. According to theCenters for Disease Control andPrevention, millions ofAmericans carry staph bacteriaon their skin and the inside oftheir nose without anysymptoms or infection. Butstaph can easily pass throughopen cuts, leading to painfulbumps, and more seriousconditions such as pneumoniaand toxic shock which is whygood hygiene is critical inpreventing staph. Adhering tothe following tips will help keepyou safe: • Keep your hands clean by

washing thoroughly withsoap and water or using analcohol-based hand sanitizerthroughout the day.

• Make sure to keep cuts andscrapes clean and coveredwith a bandage until they arehealed.

• Avoid coming in contactwith other people's woundsor bandages.

• Don't share personal itemssuch as towels or razors, which have been known tocommonly harbor staphbacteria. When you are around

someone who has a staphinfection, there are additionalsteps that can be taken to avoidspreading the infection to familyand friends:• Clean surfaces daily with a

safe and effectivedisinfectant such as RedReef's family of BioClearproducts, which also help

contain and kill mold andother harmful bacteria andviruses.

• Use a solution of onetablespoon of bleach mixedwith one quart of water todisinfect all non-disposableitems that may have come incontact with the infectedarea, wound drainage orsoiled supplies.

• Wash soiled linens andclothes with hot water andlaundry detergent, and dry ona hot setting. For more information on

Find a ClinicalTrial With a

Click(NUI) - When ShirleyFeigenbaum was diagnosed with arare form of breast cancer, herfuture looked grim. "From thelittle that I heard of inflammatorybreast cancer, which is what I had,the prognosis was very bad,"Feigenbaum said. "I did not expectto live more than three months."

That was four years ago.Today, Feigenbaum creditsclinical research with saving herlife. When she agreed to take partin a clinical trial to help futuregenerations fight the disease, shehelped find a cure for her ownillness as well.

People like Feigenbaum whovolunteer for clinical trials aresometimes called "everydayheroes" for their willingness to trynew drugs and medical devices. But for many people, the simpletask of finding a clinical trial canbe overwhelming.

That's why The Center forInformation and Study on ClinicalResearch Participation (CISCRP)created www.SearchClinicalTrials.org (SCT), a new online resourcethat scans the Web and compilesinformation and results fromthousands of clinical trials in oneplace. Developed by CISCRP incollaboration with Fast Search &Transfer, a prominent search-technology developer, andePharmaSolutions, a renownedclinical services provider, the freesite helps users find clinicalresearch information quickly andeasily.

With patient recruitmentbeing one of the biggest barriers tothe timely completion of clinicaltrials, SCT helps bridge the gapbetween volunteers and theclinical research process.

"SCT's centralized databasegives users the tools they need tolearn about clinical research andits role in the health of their family, their community and themselves,"said CISCRP President and CEODiane Simmons. "It is our hopethat SCT will help visitors cutthrough the clutter of informationabout clinical research and findwhat they need to make informeddecisions about clinical researchparticipation."

SCT users also will find easy-to-use features that help narrowthe search for clinical trials bydisease type and geographiclocation and provide informationabout trial sponsors, phases, recruitment status and eligibilityrequirements. Online links tocurrent medical news, plus a list ofquestions to ask beforevolunteering, take users throughthe first steps of starting theclinical trial search.

"We believe SCT gives usersa valuable tool for makinginformed decisions about clinicalresearch," Simmons said."CISCRP is delighted to make itavailable to the thousands ofpeople who search the Interneteveryday for news andinformation about clinical trialsand clinical researchparticipation."

• Know where you're going.Set a clear and specific goalthat's measureable, so you canstay focused and know whenyou've reached your goal.

• Eat right. As part of a healthystyle of eating, a 1/4-cup

serving of delicious CaliforniaRaisins helps to meet therecommended goal of eight to13 daily fruit servings.Raisins deliver antioxidantsand potassium to reduceoxidation that helps to preventhigh blood pressure andplaque buildup in the arteries, which lowers cholesterollevels and contributes to heartand colon health. I dreamed I had an interviewwith God.

“So you would like tointerview me?” God asked.

“If you have the time” I said. God smiled. "My time is

eternity. "What questions do youhave in mind for me?”

“What surprises you mostabout humankind?”

God answered... “That theyget bored with childhood, theyrush to grow up, and then long tobe children again. That they losetheir health to make money...andthen lose their money to restoretheir health. That by thinkinganxiously about the future, theyforget the present, such that theylive in neither the present nor thefuture. That they live as if theywill never die, and die as thoughthey had never lived.”

God's hand took mine and wewere silent for a while.

And then I asked...“As aparent, what are some of life'slessons you want your childrento learn?”

“To learn they cannot make

anyone love them. All they cando is let themselves be loved. Tolearn that it is not good tocompare themselves to others."To learn to forgive by practicingforgiveness. To learn that it onlytakes a few seconds to openprofound wounds in those theylove, and it can take many yearsto heal them. To learn that a richperson is not one who has themost, but is one who needs theleast. To learn that there arepeople who love them dearly, but simply have not yet learnedhow to express or show theirfeelings. To learn that two peoplecan look at the same thing andsee it differently. To learn that itis not enough that they forgiveone another, but they must alsoforgive themselves."

“Thank you for your time.” Isaid humbly, “Is there anythingelse you would like your childrento know?”

God smiled and said, “Justknow that I am here... always.”
