“The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ are at the heart of the Christian gospel, and Good Friday and Easter are two of the most significant celebrations of the Christian year. Remember those with health challenges: Bert Renkema and our shut-ins: Alice Bakelaar, Teresa Vanderhaar, Fay Stryker, Pietje Bylsma, Jane VanSpengen and Sandra Raidt. Our Condolences go out to Laurie & Jeff Bylsma and their families with the passing of Laurie’s mother, Frances Wynja, who went home to heaven on Wednesday afternoon. Police Checks: Keep them coming. We need another 180. Please put them in Derek Rozendal’s mailbox, or drop off at the office. Make sure you sign and date the back of the pages. Thankyou At the January Council meeting a VOTE OF AFFIRMATION was adopted by council for the choosing of Elders and Deacons. The Congregation will be asked to show their support for the nominees by an act of affirmation. Once the list of nominees has been finalized you will be asked to endorse as many of the nominees as you would like. All of the nominees who have received a 70% endorsement will be considered affirmed by the membership. Those names will be put into a hat. Lots will then be cast as usual. Full Council met on Monday March 2. A significant amount of time was spent reviewing the results of the survey (which will be printed in the bulletin). There was very open and sincere discussion regarding the how to interpret and use these results and what the next steps ought to be. Council decided to table this discussion for another month and then vote on the topic at the next full Council meeting in April. There will be three separate motions to be voted on at the next meeting as it relates to Women serving in the office of Deacon, Women serving in the office of Elder and Women serving in the office of Pastor/Preacher. Please keep this Council in your prayers as it prayerfully and faithfully considers these important questions. Council accepted a membership request with regrets. Donny and Katrina Greidanus made the formal request to transfer their memberships to Blyth CRC. Their involvement and participation in our church will be missed and we pray that God will continue to bless them in their new church home. Finally, the application for a Summer Intern Pastor was due this past Wednesday on March 4, 2015. This was sent in and the process has now officially begun. We do know that not all churches who apply will be granted a Summer Intern as there are more churches then candidates. We will know by the end of March either way. Our service also has 24hr support to our clients. Ramoth House's ability to offer long term stays allows for more intensive training of the life skills necessary for a successful transition to independent living.

Next Week’s Offering: As a multi-cultural Christian outreach and community centre, The Lighthouse demonstrates God’s love by offering unconditional hospitality, by sharing our

resources and by helping people in need. We offer an atmosphere of respect, dignity and security in order to address spiritual, emotional and physical needs, all in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. We establish and maintain wellbeing, safety, dignity and community for individuals and families affected by poverty, immigration stress, injustice and violence. We offer LOVE and COMPASSION to all people recognizing that we are called to ‘love our neighbours as ourselves’. For more info check website at lighthousecentre.ca Huron Serve is set for June 27-July 4 2015 at the Vanastra Community CRC. At this point we have all the spaces filled and we have people from all our sister CRC churches on the host team for the first time and look forward to working together as we prepare for the week ahead. Gil Clelland is our speaker and this year he has written the material we will be using for the week. The theme is "The other 51", what do we do after the week of serve and how do we carry what we learned in the rest of the year. The music is once again our awesome Praise Band, who are eager to be a part of this ministry! We meet once a month right now to start making plans and getting to know each other as team members. We ask for all your continued support in ways of prayers, financial support and volunteers where needed. We will keep everyone informed as to what is needed as we get closer to the week. May this week be a blessing to all involved and as the theme for the year states may it be carried throughout the year ahead.

Object of the Week: Nails (one for each person in household)

Thought for the Week: Nails can be used in many ways. None of us likes the thought of a nail being driven through human hands and feet; yet many of us enjoy constructing something useful with a hammer and nails. The construction project at Calvary combined the most painful use of nails with the most meaningful product ever: our salvation. The Bible reading this week leaves no doubt that Calvary’s hammering was for you. Will you respond by building your life with Him? Bible Readings for the week:

1. Acts 2: 22-24 3. 1 John 1: 8-2:2 5. 1 Corinthians 3: 1-13 2. Isaiah 53: 6-9 4. Colossians 2: 13-15 6. John 20: 24-28

Question to Consider: 1. Place a small pile of nails at some central location in your home. Sometime during the

week consider your sins for which Christ was crucified. Confess them in prayer. Now thank God for the forgiveness Christ accomplished for you through the crucifixion.
