To organize discussions, workshops, seminars, social & cultural programs to impart knowledge.

To promote environment education and teaching in climate change, through short term, medium term training-cum-awareness programs.

To address issues related to science, climate change, publish and create libraries on educational subjects.

To undertake studies in energy sector, clean coal, carbon capture and fixation, renewable and encourage study groups on various environmental aspects.

To establish and run educational and vocational institutions in urban, rural and backward area and/ or to provide financial assistance and other facilities for the establishment of to such institutions.

To secure and manage funds, grants and endowments for the promotion of environ-ment science and climate change including the rights of disposing off for selling all or any part (portion) there of.

To invite experts and enter into collaborations with other national, international Society with similar objectives.

To give or establish prizes for excellence in the field of (a) Social services (b) Climate understanding (c) Scientific & Technical work / research for peace in the country.

To do all such other lawful acts, deeds and things as are incidental or conductive to the attainment of the above objects or any of them and to promote the cause at the national and state level.

To frame byelaws and rules and regulations for the conduct of the business of the Society and its officers and employees.

An idea to start a national level organization in climate change science was conceived in 2008 at a breakfast meeting in India International Centre with friends and well-wishers. The Climate Change Research Institute established in 2009 (formerly as Climate Change Research Society) aims to promote scientific solutions for sustainable energy future. Measures in everyday life for stabilizing the greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere and capacity building to achieve energy sustainability across sectors are encouraged.

The Institute is taking a leading role in hosting awareness workshops on key topics of scientific and societal aspects of energy. Challenges in both renewable energy and carbon capture from fossil fuel based energy have been discussed on the same platform. The Institute has organized capacity building workshops on new and latest topics related to energy and climate change, carbon capture and storage and solar rooftop etc. Its workshops have high technical content and shared vision of experts on key issues, besides imparting knowledge among youth. Over 250 youth have been trained.

The office premises of the Institute are now located in South Delhi, Shivalik Road.

To become a Centre for Excellence in developing human resources and technical capacity building in the area of climate change adaptation and mitigation

MissionTo inform youth in schools and colleges about the ecosystem changes and consequences of climate change through awareness and capacity building on topics of scientific & societal interest such as Energy, Health, Air and Water.

To work with industry, undertake research & training for helping them to meet their Corporate and Social Responsibility (CSR) targets while reducing CO2 footprints through imparting national and international knowledge.

To initiate studies/research on scientific & technological measures for stabilizing the greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere.

Green buildings and sustainable habitat have become important drivers for responding to climate change concerns in building sector. Youth in their formative years in school need to be taught and motivated about such topics, which are not in their regular course curriculum. A series of workshops on Awareness and Capacity Building in Green Building Responsible Education have been organized. First workshop was held on 7th September 2011 at India International Centre, New Delhi. Hon. Dr S.Z.Qasim graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Key awareness issues in 'Solar Rooftop' and 'Smart Cities' were covered in 2013 and 2014.

Workshop on Awareness and Capacity Building on Sustainable Energy (ACBSE-2010) was held at India International Centre, New Delhi on 6th August, 2010, the day on which first nuclear bomb explosion took place in 1945. The workshop was attended by the experts in renewable energy, nuclear energy and carbon capture & storage. Prof P. N. Desai, Chairman, Center for Studies in Science Policy, JNU presided over the Session on Climate Change and Sustainable Energy.

From the President’s Desk

Climate Change Research Institute (CCRI), India is founded with a mission to promote environment education, research, innovation and trainings. It aims to address wide strata of society about the consequences of climate change on our lives and taking control measures.

It is a pleasure to introduce various activities of the Institute undertaken since in inception in 2009. As it grows, the Institute would enlarge its scope by taking up development of educational tools including bulletins and videos etc. on the topics of scientific and societal interest. It would undertake research studies, create networking in the clean energy technologies including renewable sources, fossil fuels and carbon sequestration.

Capacity Building in CarbonCapture and Storage in India

Global warming and climate change have become the most daunting environmental changes for the mankind. In this context carbon capture, storage and utilization technology has emerged as an option for reduction of CO2 concentrations in the atmosphere. Climate Change Research Institute organized a workshop supported by Ministry of Earth Sciences to create awareness and capacity building on the emerging topic of Carbon Capture & Storage and Earth Processes (ACBCCS-2013) from 15th-19th January, 2013 at India International Centre, New Delhi.

Carbon Capture and Storage - Earth Processes: ACBCCS-2013, 15th-19th January, 2013, India International Centre, New Delhi.

A Solar Rooftop: AGBRES-II, 13th March, 2013, India International Centre, New Delhi.

ABC of Green Buildings: AGBRES-2011, 7th September, 2011, India International Centre, New Delhi.

Sustainable Energy: ACBSE-2010, 6th August, 2010, India International Centre, New Delhi.

Carbon Capture and Storage: ACBCCS-2009, 27th-31st July, 2009, Indian National Science Academy, New Delhi.

The CCS programme organized well and provided a platform to interact with the faculty and participants from wide range of background for different organizations. Discussions were useful and provided good information how to capture & store carbon in different eco-systems.- Dr. P.S. Yadav, Prof and Dean, Department of Life Sciences, Manipur University, Imphal
