Baskets of HopeCLIFTON PARK – Members of The Chamber of Southern Saratoga’s Women In Business Committee are reaching out to the community for help with their charitable initiative, Baskets of Hope, which supports the daily needs of Domestic Vio-lence and Rape Crisis Services of Saratoga County (DVRC). The Committee seeks donations of women’s personal care items such as soap, shampoo, toothpaste, etc. Donated items are assembled into gift bags by committee members and given to victims entering the shelter with the hope that the recipi-ent will take comfort in knowing there are people in their own community who care and want to help. Baskets of Hope, an ongoing program of the Women in Business Committee, is now in its seventh year thanks to the support of generous Chamber and community members. Anyone who wishes to participate in this worthy program can do so by bringing do-nations to The Chamber of Southern Saratoga County Office at 15 Park Avenue, Clifton Park (behind the Shoppers World Plaza) during regular business hours, Mon.-Fri., 8:30am-5pm. Questions about the Baskets of Hope or the Women in Business Committee should be directed to Chamber Member Services Manager Liz Roggenbuck at 371-7748 x108 or by email at [email protected] (A)

PRAYER TO THE BLESSED VIRGIN (Never known to fail). Oh, most beautiful flower of Mt. Carmel, fruitful vine splendor of Heaven, Blessed Mother of the Son of God, Immaculate Virgin, assist me in my necessity. Oh, Star of the Sea, help me and show me, herein you are my mother. Oh, Holy Mary, Mother of God, Queen of Heaven and Earth, I humbly beseech you from the bottom of my heart to answer me in this necessity. There are none that can withstand your power. Oh, show me herein you are my mother. Oh, Mary con- ceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee (3x). Holy Mother, I place this cause in your hands (3x). Sweet mother, I place this cause in your hands (3x). Holy Spirit, you who solve all problems, light all roads so that I can attain my goal, you who gave me the divine gift to forgive and forget all evil against me and that in all instances in my life you are with me, I want in this short prayer to thank you for all things as you confirm once again that I never want to be separated from you in eternal glory. Thank you for your mercy towards me and mine. The person must say this prayer 3 consecutive days, after 3 days the request will be granted. This prayer must be pub- lished after the favor is granted. Favor granted. M.G.M.

Convenience Carts Now Available at LibraryCLIFTON PARK – The Clifton Park-Halfmoon Public Library now has convenience carts for patrons, due to a thoughtful ges-ture by Kathy Kohler. She wanted to remember a dear friend who was an avid reader and library user who recently passed away from bone cancer. This friend had to use a cane but want-ed to make her trips productive and would take many items to tide herself over until her next visit. It was getting difficult to juggle all the materials and stay steady on her feet. Kohler felt there must be others in this situation and made a donation to the Library in Carol Raphael’s name to purchase one cart. The Friends of the Library liked the idea so much they purchased three more. The carts can be found just beyond the Welcome Desk on the way to the Returns window. (A)

Punky Brewster Terrier, Pit Bull Mix,

5 Year Old Female, Brown/Black

I am a BEAUTIFUL, very well behaved 2-year-old terrier mix. I am a smart and loving girl who would be a

great addition to your home!

Cashmir Domestic Medium Hair Mix,

11 Year Old Female, Black/WhiteHello, I’m Cashmir a long haired black and white lady of a

certain age. My family had financial problems and lost their home. So I lost mine, too, and I’m sad about this. I lived with

another cat. I had a lot of matts so I was given a lion cut. When my lovely coat grows in again I will be so pretty! I have never been outside, so will need to be an indoor cat and have frequent brushing to keep my coat looking fine. I enjoy pet-

ting, but am feeling a little shy right now. This is a big change for me at my age. I am so looking forward to settling down in

a comfortable new home.

Punky Brewster is a 5 and 1/2 -year-old, brindle pit bull mix. She came to Mohawk Hudson as a stray and has been patiently waiting for a new family to pick her. Punky is a well mannered

girl who still has a lot of spunk! She loves attention and will play with you or sit quietly to be scratched. If you are looking

for an overall great dog, than Punky Brewster is the one for you.

Did You Know? According to the National Insurance Crime Bureau’s annual “Hot Wheels” list of the 10 most stolen vehicles in the United States, the 1994 Honda Accord was the most stolen vehicle of 2011. The NICB examines vehicle theft data submitted by law enforcement to the National Crime Information Center. While the 1994 Accord was a hot item among thieves, 2011 saw a continued decline of vehicle theft overall. Crime statistics from the Federal Bureau of Investigations in-dicated a 3.3 percent decline in vehicle theft from 2010. In fact, 2011 saw the fewest vehicle thefts since 1967. But the NICBwarns that there is a growing trend that illustrates an increase in the theft of late model vehicles, despite the development of more sophis-ticated anti-theft technology. That’s due, the NICB sug-gests, to professional thieves who can now figure out the key codes for specific vehi-cles and have a replacement key made in a matter of days. NICB president and CEOJoe Wehrle indicated that his or-ganization was aware of 300 such thefts in just the first three months of 2012.
