PROJECT GOAL:
Develop a two minute video to showcase the different
services, resources, and programs the Santa Clara
County Library District (SCCLD) offers to the public.

INTENDED AUDIENCE:
The general public residing in the Library District, local government
officials and Library stakeholders.
All 7 community libraries are featured in the video.
The video was intentionally designed to be 2 minutes long to be
viewed during public comment periods on agendas for City Council,
Library Commission and other government meetings.
VIDEO PRODUCTION:
In early 2013, Library staff developed the video concept,
"Sharing Starts Here" to tell the SCCLD story.
Fast + Light Productions was hired to work with Library staff to
produce the video at a cost of $7,000.

WAS THE PROJECT GOAL ACHIEVED?
The project goal was accomplished by using high quality film
images to communicate important SCCLD value propositions.
Value propositions featured in the video: (1) sharing stories, (2)
sharing reading, (3) sharing imagination, (4) sharing opportunities
for success, (5) sharing technology, (6) sharing expertise, and (7)
sharing resources and free programs.

MEASURING PROJECT SUCCESS:
The “Sharing Starts Here” video received extensive media
exposure and generated positive press throughout the County.
The video was featured on the Library’s homepage, Facebook
page, and in the monthly eNewsletter.
There have been almost 3,000 views of the video on the SCCLD
YouTube channel.

ADDITIONAL OUTCOMES:
Collaborations and outreach opportunities have been generated between Library staff and stakeholders to share the video in local communities.
The video was unveiled at the SCCLD Friends and Commissioners Forum in
February 2013. SCCLD branded flash drives with the video on it were distributed
to attendees to share with community organizations.
The video is a key resource in the SCCLD online advocacy toolkit, which is
maintained on the Library's web site.
