The Catacombs of Paris

The Catacombs were created about 200 years ago because the g________ (place

where people are buried) had become overcrowded and smelly.

The bones were carefully stacked and arranged beneath the city. To visit today, you

go down 20m (65ft) beneath the City. It took over 70 years to move all the bones into

the Catacombs.

The Catacombs were created about 200 years ago because the GRAVEYARD (place

where people are buried) had become overcrowded and smelly.

The bones were carefully stacked and arranged beneath the city. To visit today, you
