A- This lesson is to teach a first grade special education class the months of the year. There are 10 boys and 7 girls in the class. Seventy percent of the class is white, twenty percent of the class is African American, and ten percent of the class in Hispanic. Seven students in the class have mild to severe ADHD.

S- Students will recite the months of the year in order after looking at posters and singing songs by the end of the week with 75% accuracy.

S- Students will be taught a song to help them learn the months of the year. We will find many different songs on the Internet and take a vote to decide which song the class will use to help them learn the material. I will also have the students write the months down in order so they have a copy to study from.I will also have a poster hanging in the front of the room for students to learn the correct sequence of the months.

U- I will have previously found songs about the months of the year online for the students to listen to and choose from. I will have also brought in a poster of the months of the year to hang in the room.

R- Students will be required to participate by helping choose the best song to use and by writing their own list of the months of the year.

E- After evaluating the students to see if they learned the material or not, I will make revisions to the lesson. If students do not do well on the evaluation, I will find better songs for the students to use. It could be that using a song to learn the information isn’t working for the students. If this is the case, I would find another way to teach the lesson.
