Moonbot Studios' "The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore" is currently the number-one books and number-two Top Paid app in Apple's App Store. The story follows its amusingly named titular character as he gets swept away in a storm, before winding up in a building filled with books, which Lessmore befriends and cares for, and even writes his own. On each page of the lushly animated story, a reader can manipulate what transpires: swirl a finger around at one point to flip the house or change the way the wind blows, or linger over a book to hear famous lines. There is optional background music and narration all throughout, which a reader such as a parent can turn off to read the text aloud. William Joyce, who's worked on animation for Pixar, DreamWorks and Disney as well as illustrated some New Yorker covers, designed the book. It's available for $5 in Apple's App Store. Joyce's book is a new breed of children's book, coming at a time when tablets are increasingly finding their way into children's hands, whether it be through e-book apps or other titles. Various publishing houses are still working on converting traditional titles in their catalog into e-book formats. Meanwhile, a couple of companies, including LeapPad and VTech, have developed tablets specifically geared to children aged four years and up. The tablets are preloaded with educational entertainment apps.     Children's IPad Book App Takes Advantage of Tablet Technology

    new children's book created as an iPad app combines

    elements of animation, storytelling and interactive

    gaming in a sign of how tablet technology could revolutionize

    the genre.

    Moonbot Studios' "The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris

    Lessmore" is currently the number-one books and number-two

    Top Paid app in Apple's App Store. The story follows its amusingly
