Dear all, We are presenting to you the second issue of 'Chiguru Chilume'! First of all thanks to all of you for encouraging us by sending your feedback and input. Thats great support for us and we are always happy to get more ideas from you all and to have more members in our team. Though we had planned a lot for the first issue, due to some technical and logistical issues we were not able to bring it to the expected level and it is always better to have a simple start than trying to put everything in the first effort itself. We were also not sure about the language in which the newsletter should be written. We wanted both Kannada and English but the problem is that we cannot keep translating everything into English or Kannada, as it involves a lot of work. More importantly the work doesnt remain original anymore. We have decided to use the articles, write-ups, poems, etc. in the same language as the author has written it in. If you know only one language and dont know the other, then we hope that this newsletter can help you learn a new language altogether!
In this issue we will be introducing to you the concept of Mentors which will help the students as well as the parents in many ways. For example, if a child writes an article but is not satisfied with it, then he/she can contact the respective mentors and get their input, thus improving his/ her writing skills. It is a good opportunity of learning for the mentors as well. We are making a list of fields/ hobbies and also making a list of the people we know who are experts in various fields. This list has writing, reading, painting, crafts, origami, kitchen garden, computers, photography, snakes, trekking, movies and pretty much everything that one can think of ! We will talk to these mentors and with their consent; we will be including their name in our Mentors List which we will be publishing in the newsletter as well as putting it on the school notice board with their contact details. Interested students and parents can co-ordinate a sit-down with them directly. This will be very helpful for the people who want to learn something but dont know any instructors, and even if they know, the instructors are not often easily available. Thanks to Varsha moushi for letting us use her pictures and for being the first person on our Mentors List. Her kitchen garden looks really tempting what are you waiting for? Grab your phone and give her a call!
