The University of Texas at Dallas Summer 2012 Chess Camp

UT Dallas Chess Camp instructors include top-ranked and internationally known winners of multiple Final Four of Chess and Pan American Intercollegiate Team Chess Championships.

Camp tuition includes a souvenir T-shirt, a chess board and pieces, trophy, certificate, score book and group photo. Snacks and drinks are provided.

Classes are for kids age 7 to 13 and are grouped by ability, age, experience and instructor assessment. Classes are small and have a low student-to-teacher ratio.

Camp groups include: • Beginners, who master the basic rules and fundamentals of chess

• Intermediate players, who build on basic chess knowledge with key strategies and ideas • Advanced players, who sharpen their competitive edge with advanced strategies for tournament play

UT Dallas Chess Camp also offers an Absolute Beginners Class (ABC) for adults with little or no chess knowledge. In addition to learning the basics, adults will learn how to organize scholastic chess clubs and participate in tournaments. ABC sessions: are available morning or afternoon all weeks.

Chess develops your child’s reading and math ability, critical and analytical thinking skills and builds builds character and self-esteem. But don’t tell the kids … they think chess is fun!
