“In my mind, one of the best aspects of the study is how leadership can mean different things to different people. Some of the characteristics that caught my eye are vision, transparency, passion, and empowering. These are all important characteristics in helping to inspire, engage and retain talent.
I’m also surprised that self-awareness did not garner as much attention. In my experience, the best leaders have a keen sense of self-awareness, which allows them to reflect and continue striving to become better leaders.
There are a lot of good leaders but the most common complaint I continue to hear is there are so few great leaders. Organizations need to continue to make leadership development a top priority and recognize the rewards will always outnumber the investment!”
