is an emotional andpeople expert. Great
leaders are verysensitive, albeit not
emotional.
One of the incrediblecharacteristics of a
leader is linkingindividual success tothe success of those
they lead.
If those people do notsucceed, the leadershave failed in boththeir minds – and
hearts.
A boss holds youaccountable. A leadergrows the confidence
and passion fromwithin you to build self-
accountability.
It is an incredibleprocess to watch
unfold and supportssustainable success all
around.
Bosses determine theirsuccess by a title
position or hierarchy inthe business.
Leaders define theirsuccess by the passion
and impact of thepeople they influence.
A boss depends onpositional power to
have an impact.Leadership influence in
not dependent onpower or position.
Some of the mostfantastic leaders I have
encountered had noauthority over the
people they influenced.
A boss focuses on whatis right now – putting
out the daily fires.
A leader stays focusedon doing what is right.
A boss focusesdecisions on the
competition. Leadersstay aware of theircompetition, but
operate with a legacyin mind.
This also supports notmaking potentially bad
decisions at themoment and focusing
on the future.
A boss is driven by fearand reaction. A leader
stays driven by passionand purpose – even
during the challengingtimes.
This is a HUGE definerof a boss vs leader. Aboss always wants to
stay your boss. Aleader – much like a
parent – wants you todo better.
A leader would proudlybuild you to ‘the boss.’
A boss gets pleasurefrom being recognizedfor doing a great job.
Leaders get pleasureout of seeing others
rewarded for thefantastic results of
their passion.
Bosses keep youwondering or in fearjust enough so thatyou tell them what
they want to hear. Atthe least, they
condition you not tosay what they do not
want to hear.
Leaders build yourconfidence and trustso you will tell themwhat they need to
hear.
