The layout of the digipak• I have decided to change the layout of the digipak, because wen I

received the ultimate feedback of my current digipak, most said that it would look more like a DVD then, looking like a CD (Digipak) therefore, they would prefer that it standout out in a CD format instead of the DVD format I have followed in this digipak.• The change for the digipak and the magazine advert, is that the main

image of the magazine advert will also change sizes as the digipak changes shape, this is because the layout of the main image would change as, the image will become smaller and this means that the place of the text would move lower then its original placement.

The design and content would be the same as the original digipak, but I have changed the format to a CD digipak instead of a DVD like digipak.

When trying to figure out what size would fit well for my digipak size, I decided to go with the width of 9 and height of 9. I felt this fitted well with the digipak, and was more of a digipak size as this makes it look more realistic.I chose this size specifically as, I was going through different sizes and this size seemed to fit the certain size I wanted my digipak to look like. I tried to aim it to look realistic as a digipak’s size, by going through the different sizes and see which size looks more realistic and makes the digipak seem more like a digipak.I also had to consider other factors while creating this, example, how I would have to crop my main image, and If I had to make the titles smaller or not. I had decided that I should make the titles smaller as that would fit the title within the image and tell me if I should then proceed to add any other affects to it or not.

Page 5: Changes to the digipak

Here is the picture size of the main image of the digipak. This image is after I opened the image on Photoshop and cropped its size to fit the size of the width and height this way I can see what the image would look like on the digipak, and also see what the digipak would look like in the form.I have deleted the space around the two main characters, the artist, this was because one of the feedbacks from the target audience was that they felt there was too much available space around the artist on the front therefore, I have decided to not have many extra space around the artist, therefore, I would just have a bit of space where the artist’s name will be and the album title goes. Here is the finished product:

As you can see I have kept most things the same, the aspects I had changed were that I made the text smaller so they would be seen in the image and I made the image more clearer and enhanced as, I felt the original didn’t look very eye catching as this image does.

Here is a still from when I was editing the front cover, altering the size of the texts and if the image still looked as interesting to the target audience as the original picture did. I think, it does as, by cropping the image to show the main features of the picture, which I also proceeded to do with the other images involved in the digipak, it draws more attention to the artist and the album title. This could interest the target market, as they may see the product and make them want to know more about the artist.

FRONT COVERBACK COVER (TRACKLIST) LEFT COVER

Here is the final view of the front cover, back cover and left cover of my digipak. You can see, that I have kept the images and layout the same therefore, there isn’t very much different from the original layout, but the main difference is that the images are much smaller and therefore, doesn’t look as big as the original did, however, this can be seen as an advantage as, this could mean that the viewer may feel more drawn in by the images being more closer then before, they may feel closer to the artist then before. Therefore, I think by cropping the images fitting them into the sizes of the digipak, it made the digipak seem more closer to the target market and showed more expressions then I had done before in the original digipak images.

BOOK PHOTO CARDS Here is the inside content of the digipak such as the book, photo cards, images on the left back cover, and etc., and the insides the digipak. You can see that I have also kept the layout the same as this relates to the other media products as well as, show the main characteristics of the artist and their vision of their work. The things I have changed is the size of the digipak and the size of the book, by altering these aspects it makes the digipak seem more realistic and makes the consumer feel more close to the artists as, the pictures are much closer and in most of the images there is use of direct address.

Page 9: Changes to the digipak

Here is the final product of my digipak improved:

As you can see I have kept almost all aspects the same, the change is mainly in the size of the images presented, therefore, there wasn’t a very big change in the digipak, meaning it is the same way as before and all the forms and conventions apply the same way as before. It still draws more attention to the artist, which is my aim of the digipak.

Page 10: Changes to the digipak

Here was an idea (left) that I changed the new layout of the magazine advert to a layout that I had worked with before as an idea. This was to see if this worked well with the new image or not. I felt the text ‘HIDE’ wasn’t very clear in it therefore, I switched back to the original layout (right) with the main image. I think this looks much better as, it doesn’t have too much going on in the advert and the attention goes to the main image, which I am aiming for with the advert, to draw more information on the image and make the target market more interested in it.

Page 11: Changes to the digipak

Here is the original magazine advert (left) and the new magazine advert (right). As you can see I have used the recent main image of the digipak as the main image on this magazine advert. This is to show the synergy between the two media and show the target market they are both connected as together. The have kept the layout the same as, I felt this was the best way of making sure there was more focus on the image as well as the texts, which are able to stand out.
