Platteville Regional Chamber’s 2014 Strategic Plan

The Chamber’s Board of Directors launched an aggresThe Chamber’s Board of Directors launched an aggressive rebranding project to make a splash in the Platteville region in 2013. The results of months of research and meetings a plan was formed. With the rebranding comes a new name! We are no longer the Platteville Area Chamber of Commerce but the Platteville Regional Chamber!

“Good Morning Platteville” is held the 4th Thursday of every month at alternating

locations.

Good Morning Platteville

Platteville Community Arboretum Fundraising Project/City Council Candidate IntroductionThe new Chamber initiative provides an opportunity to discuss community events and issues in an open- discussion forum format.“Good Morning Platteville” is a monthly program that serves to be an additional networking opportunity for Chamber members and provide a platform to discuss community events and issues. The fi rst meeting was Thursday, February 27 at 7:30 a.m. at Take 2 Restaurant. Attendees enjoyed complimentary coff ee and rolls while they listened to the presentation given by Gene Weber.

Weber, who represented the Platteville Community Arboretum, presented about the fundraising project to light the paved section of the Rountree Branch trail. During the presentation, he identifi ed the benefi ts of a lit trail and addressed some of the detractors. An open discussion and question & answer session followed the presentation.

Amy Seeboth, who is a current City Council candidate, gave a short speech about what brought her to Platteville, what she loves about the community, and what she envisions for the future.

Next month’s “Good Morning Platteville” will be held on March 27 at Take 2 Restaurant at 7:30 a.m. The topic of discussion will be “Community Emergency Plan- Are You Aware?” Presentations will be given by representatives from the City of Platteville, UW-Platteville, and Southwest Health Center.

Our March program is geared to raise the awareness of our community’s emergency plans. March is also the beginning of tornado season here in Wisconsin so it is timely that we talk about this. The City, UWP and Southwest Health Center all have emergency plans in place. The goal of this presentation will be to educate everyone on how we tie everything together. In the event of an emergency, questions such as what should we do, where do we go and where do we get our information can be answered.

Our Good Morning Platteville program is open to the public and we encourage everyone to join us. If you have a suggestion for a topic, please call the Chamber offi ce (348-8888) and let us know.

Congratulations to Mike Lisle on winning a $10

Platteville Regional Chamber gift certifi cate at our fi rst event!
