We always strive to provide beneficial, useful services and tools for our valued members. After all that’s why we are here right? Your Board and I are excited to roll out a new event that we believe will be a great tool for you and your business. We are calling it Best Practices Business Breakfasts, and our first one will be Feb. 12th at the Courtyard Marriott at 8:00AM. This will serve as yet another function where we will delve into important topics that effect your business, and discuss best practices, but not with your traditional speaker. We will break up into tables and each table will have a subject-matter-expert or facilitator who will help guide discussions, and members can then share ideas with each other, share knowledge, experiences, successes, and failures at their discretion. Also, this will hopefully attract those of you that just cannot make our monthly luncheons and evening networking events due to scheduling conflicts. We hope to see many of you there on Feb. 12th, please contact our offices to RSVP, cost is only $15/person and includes a full breakfast.

Now that we are in February this is where we begin recruiting our Marathon Seafood Festival volunteers. Marathon’s biggest and best event is not possible without our beloved volunteers. We are also accepting sponsorships for the festival as well. Sponsorships are a great way to expose your business to our 15,000+ event guests, as well as the tens of thousands of visitors to our event website, on which all our sponsors are featured (www.MarathonSeafoodFestival.com). Please contact us for more info on volunteering and/or being an event sponsor. See you March 9th-10th for your 43rd annual Original Marathon Seafood Festival!

Have a great February everyone, remember to get that someone special a great Valentine’s Day gift at one of our many great local (chamber-member) retail shops. Please also remember to send in your membership renewal dues that were mailed out last month. We greatly appreciate your membership with us and look forward to continuing to serve, support, and advocate for your business. Do not hesitate to contact me to help you in any way.

Most Respectfully,

Daniel Samess, M.S. • CEO Greater Marathon Chamber of Commerce • (305) [email protected] • www.FloridaKeysMarathon.com • www.RelocateToTheFloridaKeys.com • www.MarathonSeafoodFest.com

Florida Rental by OwnersEstablished in 2017, FLARBO’s aim is to help visitors search and find a dream Florida Keys vacation rental on Florida Rental By Owners (FLARBO). It prides itself on the three “no’s” — no traveler fees, no booking fees, and no communication barriers. For owners, the service offers a way to manage their vacation rental properties. “Booking directly with our verified owners always gets you the best price,” said FLARBO co-founder Michele Totino. “We are successful and experienced vacation rental owners who were tired of the huge corporate giants negatively affecting our businesses.”She said FLARBO is built for owners who want to take back control of their rental processes; and for travelers who wish to avoid the huge booking fees incurred on large online travel agencies.“We’re a little bit different and our clients like it,” Totino said. “Everything we do is geared towards the owner and traveler. We focus on what the property managers and owners want, and we provide the advertising platform to drive bookings to their homes.”

HydroShieldSurface Protection & Restoration. HydroShield offers services to help property owners protect and restore hard-to-clean surfaces such as granite, glass, porcelain, tile and grout. “Our key to success would be having integrity, a positive attitude, and standing behind our products and services,” said owner Traci Driscoll. Driscoll said HydroShield applications create a transparent hydrophobic barrier that chemically bonds to surfaces at the molecular level — eliminating microscopic peaks and valleys where the corrosion begins. The result is an ultra-smooth transparent barrier that protects glass, granite, marble, traver-tine, quartzite, ceramic tile, porcelain and grout from the harmful effects of environmental pollutants. It also protects against bacteria growth in surface pores, hard water minerals, harsh cleaners, and corrosion. As it is chemically bonded, it cannot be chipped, peeled, or scratched.“Maintenance will be cut by 75 percent and you can eliminate harsh cleaning chemicals which are unhealthy to you and our environment,” Driscoll said. “We can also restore glass and grout, making your home look new again!”Hyroshield operates throughout the Keys, and was established in 1995.
