O F I N T E R E S T :

Greetings From the Executive Director

A Newsletter for Chamber Members & Park Falls Area Promoters

The winter season is now in full swing, it started out with a lot of snow, but the lack of cold

kept the lakes and swamps unsafe. This kept away a lot of possible visitors to the North-

woods. Some nice cold days and nights and now all is like it should be, FROZEN. Everything

is now in great shape. The visitors are starting to make their way to the area and that should

be good for all local businesses. The snowmobile clubs are doing a fantastic job keeping the

trails all across Price County in excellent condition. Please thank these people for all that

they do. Without them your business would no doubt be not as successful during the winter

months.

DID YOU KNOW?

Snowplow Laws:

There are no state laws that prohibit you from passing a snowplow. However, it is illegal (State Statute 346.915) to follow a snowplow closer than 200 feet upon any highway having the posted speed limit of more than 35 mph if the snowplow is engaged in snow and ice re-moval.

Some interesting weather facts: The warmest month is July, when the average high tem-

perature is 81 °F (27 °C), and the overnight low is 63 °F (17 °C). The coldest month is Janu-ary, when the average high temperature is only 28 °F (-2 °C). Low temperatures in January average 13 °F (-11 °C).

Some Snowplowing facts:

• WisDOT uses an average of 526,000 tons of salt and 14,000 tons of sand per season statewide. The total storage capacity of salt for use on state maintained highways is about 562,000 tons.

• Salting is cost effective down to a pavement temperature of only about 15-20 degrees. It takes about 13 times more salt to melt ice when the pavement temperature is 0°F than when it is 30°F.

Sand is sometimes used to improve traction on ice. However, it only takes about 30 vehicles traveling at highway speeds to blow the sand off the roadway.

Remember that the staff is here for YOU. If you have any ideas or suggestions, we want to

hear them from you. Give us a call, email us or even better stop in and say hello.

Thank you,

Edward J Kane

Chamber Connection February, 2020 The 2020 Price County Guide is on the streets !!!!

This guide is just simply the best one we have done. We are receiving great reviews from our distributors all across the state so far. Nearly 20,000 have been sent out already to places that our visitors come from. We no longer hold them in stock so that they are here waiting to be picked up, Then get dumped in markets after the book is no longer essential.

These guides are in the hands of the people that are planning trips NOW!!!

If you haven't received guides yet please let me know. Don from Advanced Printing has been making the rounds to the resorts, restaurants while Laurie and Myself have been visiting all the other business. We want them in the peoples

hands so they know all that we have to offer.

Chamber Connection February , 2020

Being a member of the Chamber of Commerce is a great way to get your business connected

with other businesses as well as with customers. A century ago there was only 40 US cities

that had a Chamber. Today there are more than 7,000 Chambers, Boards of trade and desig-

nated non profits advancing the interest of the communities. The numbers show that being in

a dedicated and driven Chamber results are driven.

What is a Chamber of Commerce? It is a partnership between professional people and

businesses. This is a voluntary partnership designed to better the quality of life in a communi-

ty and advance the business in the marketplace. Over the last year we have been listening and

reacting to the feedback we are getting. You have seen many changes over the year and about

to see many more……

As a chamber works to improve the quality of life and the economy in an area it does it with

these objectives in mind:

Help the members grow and prosper

Increase the opportunities for employment in the area

Work for an orderly expansion of the economy

Bring excitement to the residents so they feel rejuvenated in the community.

Promote and provide education to the membership

Connect the students and business owners so that they can grow together.

GREAT Things to COME…….. Just wait…...

Benefits of Being a Chamber Member
