    Day weekend,

    and for most of

    us, it is a time

    for bratwurst,

    hamburgers,hotdogs,

    mustard,

    ketchup, relish,

    barbequed chicken, chips, and picnics.

Its about a long weekend, graduations,

and perhaps a wedding or two. Its

    about fun and relaxation.

But, Memorial Day is also about

    rememberingremembering the rich

legacy of love and service left by those

    wondrous saints and family members

    who have preceded us; remembering

Gods sacrificial and unconditional lovefor us; and remembering the sacrifice

of men and women who have served

    our country militarily, especially those

who have died in the course of that

    service. Such military remembrances do

not mean that we condone or endorse

acts of war. We dont. Only the most

nave, the most insensitive, and the

    most arrogant could possibly relish

the human cost of solving differenc

    through military conflict. Such

    actions are often unavoidable, but

    never preferred.

So, we pause during this weekend remember our legacy of love and th

and service. In the course of our

    remembering, may we include this

is the victory that conquers the

    worldour faith.
