Student Technical Conference at Bannari Amman Institute of Technology

A nation becomes great because of itswealth and resources. India always remains greatnot only due its natural resources but also dueto its sparkling and efficient young citizens.Global warming makes people disenchanting butconcentrating research on green house effect, this problem can be alleviated. We have enoughman power. Technical knowledge of Indians isrespected all over globally, said Mr T NSivakumar, Chairman, Electronics ControlCorporation, Coimbatore in his inauguraladdress delivered at the IEEE Student Branchof Bannari Amman Institute of Technology,Sathyamangalam on Saturday the 21st August2010.

Around 700 Students from 23 engineeringcolleges in Tamilnadu and adjoining statesparticipated in the IEEE National StudentTechnical Conference. Mr R Karthikeyan IEEEStudent Branch Chairman welcomed thegathering. Dr G Gurusamy Sr.M.IEEE andStudent Branch Counselor enlightened the senseof belonging while a student enrolling as an IEEEStudent Member and the enormous reputationhe brings in to himself and to IEEE organizationby his participation in its activities.

Dr A Shanmugam Principal of the collegewhile felicitating the successful conduct of thetwo day Technical Conference lauded the waysin which IEEE is extending its helpline for thebenefit of the young engineers. He said that byparticipating in the IEEE Programmes, thestudent members grow technically andprofessionally. The students on becoming themember of this global organization develop selfconfidence and personality skill by participatingin the skill oriented programmes organized byIEEE every now and then.

The highlight of the conference was thetechnical paper presentation. Papers wereinvited from the students of engineering colleges

all over India. There was overwhelmingresponse for the conference as the committeereceived 250 papers. The review committee hada hectic task of selecting 60 papers which werepresented in the four technical sessions on thefirst day of the conference. The separate posterpresentation was conducted for another set ofpapers to avoid disappointment among theyoung students. Students were also invited toexhibit their project models and the best threeprojects were selected and awards werepresented.

A Workshop on “Neuro Fuzzy SystemsApplications” – a neural network study on parwith human brain was conducted by Mr U SRagupathy, Assistant Professor, EEEDepartment, Kongu Engineering College. ALogic on types and modeling of uncertaintiesand its control using fuzzy implementation wasswiped through. Defuzzification also takes itsturn along with this logic. Control of “Continousco-polymerization reactor” a real time exampleof fuzzy logic made the life crisp. A set of fuzzyrules implemented using Matlab is gaining itsprominence because of its efficient simplicity.

In the evening there was a relaxationmoved among the student faces as a technicalgame with Robots driving called Robomania wasconducted.

The second day of the conference beganwith a opening professional lecture by MrAnand Sharma, Chief Mentor IMS LearningResources, Coimbatore. He strolled the audienceby his inspiring speech: Life must haverelaxation, but relaxation alone must not be thelife. Individuals need to realize the cost of energydepleting behaviors and then take responsibilityfor changing them regardless of circumstancesthey are facing. Most of the team leaderssquander the time with ineffective planning only

to realize a short fall later. Time Managementtechniques must be sincerely adopted.Personality is a package of you. Not onlyspeaking in English gives your personality ahigh score, but the way of communication thatmatters. IEEE helps in a “change of collectivebehavior” that provides effective timemanagement and personality skills. After allsuccess depends on the knowledge that youacquire in life.

Then various technical contests like E –Fusion, Brahma & Embryo and Quiz wereconducted for the students and best three placeswere selected in each contest. At the end of theday the Student Branch Counselor Dr GGurusamy gave away the prizes to the winners. The function ended with the vote of thanksproposed by Mr S Jayaprakash, Chairman,Student Technical Conference.
