    Job Summary

    Cleans, organizes and maintains glassware, sampling equipment,

    vehicles, refrigerator and general areas within the laboratory facilities.

    Distributes and disposes of supplies and samples as directed. Performs

    other duties of a similar nature as may be required.

    Essential Functions

    - Follows laboratory standard operating procedures to clean, sterilize and

    organize glassware and sampling equipment. Observes safe work

    practices as described in the Analytical Services Chemical Hygiene Plan

    while handling chemicals, samples and laboratory equipment. Inspects

    equipment and supplies for safe operations.

    - Performs routine, repetitive, physical tasks such as: preparing and

    washing all glassware and sampling equipment including sampler bases;

    carting trash to facilitys central dumpster; disposing of old samples as per delegated authority; loading and emptying laboratory dishwashers

    and autoclave.

    - Picks up and/or delivers samples, sampling kits and supplies to and/or

    from the laboratory, District facilities and external customers. Transports

    samples to contract laboratories for additional analyses.

    - Performs routine maintenance and cleaning within the bioassay area

    including, but not limited to feeding fish, changing filters, taking

    temperatures, recording egg count production, preparing new brine,

    removing debris, cleaning tiles and cleaning aquariums.

    - Maintains the general laboratory and other specialized areas of the

    facility by sweeping and mopping floors, and cleaning and organizing

    cabinets, refrigerators, and vehicles. Washes windows, countertops and

    walls.

    - Operates laboratory equipment including, but not limited to, pH meters,

    analytical balances, hot plates, stir plates, autoclave, dishwashers,

    vacuums and floor scrubber.

    - Provides spoken information about situations and tasks to supervisor(s)

    or other laboratory personnel. Notifies supervisor of all unusual

    occurrences encountered during the performance of assigned duties.

    - Performs basic readings and measurements of wastewater parameters

    and records information according to standard operating procedures.

    Keeps detailed records of work undertaken using various computer

    programs and other methods. Assists with data entry, and collecting and

    General Summary:
