cDPF system General
• Introduction of cDPF in 3 phases
• Phase 1 (job#1 = Feb. 2008) *:- 2.2L Puma Diesel, 85 PS (VGT + sREA)- 2.4L Puma Diesel, 100 PS (FGT)
• Phase 2 (job#1 = 2008-April-07):- 2.2/2.4L Puma Diesel, 115 PS (2.2L VGT + sREA / 2.4L FGT)
• Phase 3 (job#1 = 2008-October-06):- 2.2/2.4L Puma Diesel, 140 PS (VGT + sREA)- 3.2L Puma Diesel, 200 PS (VGT + sREA)
* Not October 2007

cDPF system Vaporizer system
• 2.4L only• Why using:
Long distance between exhaust manifold and cDPF unit (temperature drops to heavy before reach cDPF)
• Funtion of vaporizer:- vaporized fuel is delivered directly in the exhaust- vaporized fuel reacts in the 2nd catalyst- reaction of vaporized fuel meets the required temperature for active DPF regeneration (600 degrees).
• Supplier: ArvinMeritor

cDPF system Vaporizer concept
Function
• Active regeneration process starts:- late main and post injection(s)- Reduced EGR and boost pressure, intake air throttling
• Minimum Temperature before cDPF: 205 °C• Glow plug of vaporizer starts to burn• 3 sec. later fuel is pumping in the chamber of vaporizer• Fuel vaporize in chamber• Vaporized fuel flow in exhaust
• Vaporizer is active for whole regeneration process (10 … 15 min)

cDPF system Vaporizer
Non-return valve• Limits pressure < 2 bar• Prevents fuel line draining
Glow plug• Diagnostic of glow plug
consists of range check todetect short cut to VBatt andopen loop
• Values glow plug- resistance: 1 … 2,33 Ω- VBatt
- Current flow: 6 … 14 A

cDPF system Fuel pump
Technichal data
• Lift piston pump• Controlled by PCM
• Usupply = 12 V
• Frequency = 6 Hz• Volume = 240 ml/h• Coil resistance: 5,2 ± 5 Ω • Diagnostic of pump and relay consists of range check to detect
short cut to VBatt and open loop

cDPF system Fuel pump
Service
• After fuel pump/fuel line exchange a prime procedure isnecessary
• Note:Emty fuel lines could result in the MIL coming up!
• How to do:Procedure not finalized!
Planned:is to run the pump a number of seconds to prime the system ready for the first regeneration
• Cleaning contaminated fuel tank, vaporizer system must cleaned also

Driver has to drive min 30 minutes in higher load conditions
• SOL + MIL:Next Ford workshop – static regeneration
• SOL + MIL + Change cDPF
