Responsibility—The Norfolk and Western Ry. Co. i s no t re-sponsible for errors in time tables, inconvenience or loss resultingfrom delayed trains, failure to make connections, air-conditioningfailures, o r emergency substitutions i n equipment. Schedules,consists and designations of trains shown in this folder are subjectto change without notice.

Time—From 12:01 A.M. to 12:00 o'clock noon, inclusive, is shownin light-face type, between 12:01 P.M. and 12:00 o'clock midnightby dark-face type.

Children's Fares—Children under five years o f age may ridewithout charge when accompanied by a parent or guardian. How-ever, one half-fare ticket is required when one, two or three childrenunder five have exclusive use of a berth or parlor car seat. Childrenfive years of age and under twelve, are charged a half-fare; children12 years and older, full fare.

Purchase in Advance—Tickets for reserved Sleeping or Parlorcar space and coach seats should be purchased as far in advanceas possible.

Cancellations—If you change your travel plans, please cancelSleeping, Parlor car or coach seat reservations promptly by telephone.

Stopovers are permitted at all points where trains are scheduledto stop, within final limit of tickets, by notifying conductor.

Adjustment o f Fares—In cases o f dispute with conductors oragents, pay the fare required, take receipt and communicate with theGeneral Passenger Sales Manager.

Redemption o f Tickets—Tickets unused, or partly used, will beredeemed under tariff regulations at proper value.

Loss of Tickets—Passenger should guard against such loss, asrailroads are not responsible.

Train Stops—Trains make regular stops only at stations wheretime figures are shown. When a symbol or letter appears in traincolumn opposite station this indicates train only stops on certainconditions. Where trains make a conditional stop, advance noticeshould be given to agent or train conductor.

Baggage—Will be checked only from or to stations having facilitiesfor handling. Every effort will be made to expedite handling, but therailroad cannot guarantee to forward baggage on same train withowner. T o facilitate receipt on arrival at destination, passengersare advised to check baggage sufficiently in advance of departure,preferably 24 hours or more.

150 pounds of baggage, not exceeding $100.00 in value, will bechecked on each adult ticket and 75 pounds, not exceeding $50.00in value, will be checked on each child's half-fare ticket, withoutadditional charge, except for a nominal baggage checking servicecharge.

Passengers may declare excess value at time of checking subjectto a nominal charge for each additional $100.00 or fraction thereof,but not exceeding $2,500.00. N o single piece of baggage exceeding300 pounds in weight, or single shipment exceeding $2,500.00 invalue, will be checked. Exception: Boxes of heavy or corrugatedpaperboard are limited to a gross weight of 50 pounds each.

Checkable baggage consists of wearing apparel and other articlesnecessary and appropriate for the wear, use, comfort and con-venience of the passenger for the purpose of the trip, but does notinclude prohibited articles.

Baby cabs, bicycles, cribs, go-carts, sleds, campers' outfits, invalidchairs, golf bags and certain other articles, securely fastened, areacceptable for checking in baggage service, subject to rules stipu-lated in tariff. Money, jewelry, negotiable papers, liquids, fragile or

perishable articles; radios, typewriters, dishes and other householdgoods are examples of articles not checkable as baggage. ConsultAgent.

Dogs and other small household pets in substantial crates or cagesmay be checked and transported in baggage cars subject to tariffregulations and charges. Small dogs, cats, birds or other small house-hold pets (not vicious, odoriferous or otherwise objectionable) whencarried in baskets, containers or on leash and muzzled, may be takenin private room accommodations in Parlor or Pullman cars, but wil lnot be permitted in coaches.

Hand-Baggage in Pu l lman Cars is limited to that which canbe conveniently placed in the berth, seat or other accommodationspurchased by the passenger.

Lost Ar t ic les to be inquired for at Lost Article Department interminal stations, or through the nearest ticket agent.

Passenger and Baggage Transfer in Chicago—A uniformedagent of the RAILROAD TRANSFER SERVICE, INC., meets all in-coming trains so that passengers may arrange for transfer of them-selves and their baggage to other stations. When transfer coupon viathe RAILROAD TRANSFER SERVICE, INC., is included in ticket, theRAILROAD TRANSFER SERVICE, INC., wil l honor this coupon tothe designated depot.

Passengers holding through tickets, having three (3) or more hoursbetween trains, may, on arrival in Chicago, deliver their baggage toRAILROAD TRANSFER SERVICE, INC., Agent and receive claimcheck for baggage which will be transferred to parcel room of thedepot from which the passengers will depart, and may be claimedon presentation of claim check.

Charge for this service (on presentation of transfer coupon) is 35cper piece of baggage, plus regular applicable parcel room chargefor 24-hour service prevailing at outgoing station.

Baggage Insurance—Insurance covering full value of passenger'sbaggage and personal effects for entire trip away from home is soldat principal offices.

Red Cap Baggage—Luggage accepted by Red Cap Porters forhandling to Pullman or Chair Cars must be claimed on Train at timeof departure. This service does not include delivery at destination.

Prepaid Transportation—Do you know you can arrange transpor-tation for relatives or friends without the necessity of forwardingfunds by mail or otherwise? The nearest agent will be glad to explainour prepaid transportation arrangements which will have your pas-senger on the way before you could forward the funds by mail. N ocharge for the service other than the cost of the transportation.

,IT—Rail-Auto Service—This service is available at the desti-nations indicated by this symbol. Under the Rail-Auto Travel Planyou may combine the best of two methods of travel. Enjoy a com-fortable train ride TO your destination, then rent a Drivurself auto-mobile AT your destination. A n y ticket agent will gladly make thearrangements for you in advance.

Invalids • or Disabled Persons—Any person who, because ofmental, physical or other disabi l i ty, is incapable of properly caringfor himself or herself, will be received as a passenger ONLY whenaccompanied by a competent attendant.
