DUAL POSITION COILThe coil spring is a simple, time-tested design with a smooth feel characterized by a linear spring curve.

CLIMBING FEATURESLong travel bikes are fun, especially on the downhills. However, grinding up a hill with a long travel fork is a different story. To bring back the joy of climbing, RockShox created two spring systems with a climbing mode feature, available in several fork models for 2012: Revelation, Totem, Lyrik and Sektor (air spring and coil systems). Just flip the lever while you are riding, push the fork down – our Dual Position spring systems shorten the fork by about 30mm. This lowers the bike’s front end, allowing you to get into a more powerful climbing position. Up on the hill rotate the lever back and the fork quickly returns to max travel. DIG VALVEThe Dig Valve is the name of the latest addition to the damping circuit on both SID and Revelation. RockShox has redesigned the rebound piston to accommodate the Dig Valve, which provides the optimal level of control for both low and high speed compression, carefully controlling the oil flow to provide the rider with the right amount of support and impact absorption. The piston redesign allows the use of Rapid Recovery, a rebound tune that allows the shock to recover faster between consecutive bumps, for greater traction and a more controlled ride.

DUAL FLOWSuspension shouldn’t pack up in rock gardens or buck after big drops. That’s why Dual Flow incorporates independent damping circuits, allowing separate rebound speeds for big hits and small ones. A user-adjustable knob controls the beginning-stroke (small-hit) rebound, and a factory-set ending-stroke (big-hit) rebound creates the perfect suspension for whatever the trail (or park) throws your way. Now tuning your suspension for your unique needs is as easy as a clockwise or counterclockwise turn. In the RockShox world this is clicking toward the turtle or the “jackalope.” Featured in: Totem, Lyrik, Reba, Monarch.

DUAL FLOW ADJUSTDFA’s kind of like Glam Metal. Two things you’d never think could go together, but somehow work like magic. Let’s say you’re riding a course with both monster drops and lots of braking bumps. Convention says you have to adjust your fork to handle one or the other. RockShox DFA says no, use its dual independent damping circuits to tune it to handle both. Absorbing the big hits while staying plush through the small stuff, like makeup and metal.

DUAL POSITION AIRIf you want to ride up and walk down, a fork that only does one thing well is great. But you love epic ascents, technical descents, winding single track and everything in between. So you need a fork that tackles it all. Like our Dual Position Air. It changes your fork’s travel up to 30mm without changing its small bump performance. So, with a simple onboard turn and a click you can switch from climbing like a demon to bombing downhill with confidence.

FIXED COILThe coil spring is a simple, time-tested design with a smooth feel characterized by a linear spring curve.

HOT RODYou can push your bike so hard that the oil fades out before you do. So we determined the spring rate change of the shock as the shock oil heats up, and created an adjuster with a thermoplastic resin core that expands with the rising heat and viscosity changes of the shock oil. So your suspension will feel exactly the same at the bottom of a Garbanzo DH run as it did at the top. We named it Hot Rod, because “Adjuster With A Thermoplastic Resin Core” sounds like a weapon of mass destruction.

MATCHMAKER XThe MatchMaker X clamp is more than just a clamp. It’s like having Martha Stewart tidy up your cockpit. Since each clamp accepts up to three controls, you can put everything from your XLoc suspension lockout, your SRAM shifters and AVID brake levers as well as your Reverb XLoc remote, all on two clamps. Short of genetically engineering longer thumbs, it’s the ideal way to put everything within easy reach. Just like Martha would.

MOTION CONTROLImagine riding on the moon. Rolling hills, crushed rock blasted out of craters… craters. There’s no gravity so you wouldn’t even need a chairlift. Unfortunately you can’t ride on the moon. There’s lots of gnarly terrain on earth. But, earth has gravity so you’ll need suspension that climbs as well as it descends. MOTION CONTROL DNAWho doesn’t want more? As a mountain biker, more might mean more rocks, roots, and descents. More also could mean switchbacks, single tracks and steep ascents. MOTION CONTROL ISAll the small bump performance of Motion Control with the addition of high-speed compression control through an Integrated SpeedStack specifically designed for smoothing out the big hits seen by long travel forks. A crown-mounted low-speed compression knob lets you optimize the fork to eliminate brake diving and maximize efficiency with ease.

POWER BULGEWhen you need your forearms to be stronger for more control, you bulk them up in the gym. When you need more durability from your fork, bulk them up with our Power Bulge. It started nearly two decades ago with the original RockShox BoXXer and our desire to provide completely personalized support to a special group of riders. The goal was to give our team a clear performance advantage in World Cup competition, and to win races. In this relentless pursuit of the podium, no rider request was too crazy or too costly—the average yearly salary of a pro mountain biker wouldn’t have covered the manufacturing cost of those gen-1 BoXXers.

It paid off. We won races and wrote some of the most exciting stories in mountain-bike history. With our athletes’ successes—and failures—we learned what worked, and what didn’t. Some of those BlackBox technologies have made it to market.

As the sport evolved, the BlackBox program extended beyond RockShox. Across the SRAM brand family, if it could extend the boundaries of mountain biking, the BlackBox team was there to develop new products and technologies.

What It Is: DoubleTap® is the fl agship technology leading SRAM’s road gruppo revolution. It’s

a simple yet elegant and advanced system that addresses issues - Without compromising on

performance, comfort, and weight - with a revolutionary shift/brake lever design.

What It Does: DoubleTap makes changing gears easier and faster, eliminating the

cumbersome and awkward engagement associated with two-lever systems. DoubleTap

handles up- and downshifts in one short, sweeping motion, with minimal eff ort and

maximum comfort no matter where you are on the bars.

How It Works: DoubleTap uses two pawls, one for holding the ratchet wheel, and one for

transporting it up and down through the gear change. The pawls are arranged in a way so

that they can leapfrog each other depending on how far, and with how much pressure, you

push the shift lever. With short, rapid taps the transport pawl (04) moves the ratchet wheel

Simply put, hydraulic brakes provide more braking power, better modulation, with less hand eff ort.

Hydraulic road rim brakes (HRR) still face many of the same challenges as cable actuated rim brakes because it uses the same braking surface and friction materials (pads). However, producing more braking force with less hand eff ort improves performance in all conditions. And a sealed system won’t suff er from cable drag if installed on a frame with tight angles.

Hydraulic road discs (HRD) take this to the next level. Long proven in mountain and moto, HRD will deliver more braking power and control by braking on a steel rotor than can be achieved on any carbon or aluminium rim. Additionally, no heat is transferred into the tire or tube.

SRAM hosted an international journalist event at the European Development and Training Center (EDTC) in Schweinfurt. The media learned about SRAM’s Urban vision and the successful transformation from a gear hub production facility to

the EDTC. The editors also had the chance to increase their knowledge and get technical insight about Internal Gear Hubs, 2x10 drivetrains and E-Bike solutions.

SRAM was proud to welcome renowned partners from inside and outside the bicycle industry at the first SRAM Urban days for a discussion panel about Urban mobility: Stephan Augustin from BMW Group/project i presented their Urban mobility vision, Kevin Mayne from the European Cyclists’ Federation (ECF) was talking about the political impact and lobbying and John Kock from the Amsterdam design agency Springtime was an expert on Urban design needs.

The conclusion of the discussion was that cycling will become an important solution for Urban development and city planning. Bikes and good cycling infrastructure will help to stop the breakdown of traffic in the cities. Bicycles will have a big impact on Urban mobility in the future.

That is why SRAM will strengthen its efforts and get more involved with partners inside and outside the bicycle industry. SRAM is not only investing in Urban products but also in events like the SRAM Urban Days.

The hub dynamo converts the bike into a mobile power plant. No other dynamo solution offers more comfort and safety. It is an extremely dependable, weather independent and low-friction source of power.

SRAM E-MATIC

TAKE A LOAD OFF Imagine riding against the wind, uphill, towing a suitcase full of luggage, and not even breaking a sweat. That’s the power of SRAM E-MATIC, our brand new electric assist hub. It’s an utterly simple system, not cluttered by displays, a tangle of cables, or complicated hardware. The enclosed and protected rear-wheel hub includes a torque-sensor, controller, motor, and an automatic transmission system. The torque-sensor monitors the rider’s effort and the controller delivers proportional motor assistance as needed. The transmission shifts automatically to ensure that the rider is always in the “right” gear, delivering power at low speeds for getting started or getting up hills, and efficiency at high speeds.How does SRAM E-MATIC work? At low speeds the hub motor delivers power in order to give the rider a boost and to help get started or climb hills. At higher speeds the transmission automatically shifts to a lower, more efficient gear, while still continuing to provide a boost as necessary.
