Els Pallaresos is a village located on a small hill from 125 meters in the district of Tarragones, Tarragona Province, in the Autonomous Community of Catalonia. It is surrounded by housing development. In recent years, it has had a population growth of very important people, mainly due to its proximity from the city of Tarragona (4 miles about). Traditionally the main livelihood of the villagers (Pallaresencs) was agriculture (the cultivation of hazelnuts, almonds, grapes, cereals, carob and olive oil). Nowadays, half the land isn't good for cultivation and therefore dominates the pine forest. Among the exceptionally fertile vineyards of the village emerges the Casa Bofarull, a Cultural heritage monument in Spain

The representative symbol of the village is "the Bofarull House", with his lightning rod shaped angel. In 1913 Jujol began his intervention on Casa Bofarull, finishing its remodeling in 1933

Old farming tools transformed into iron fittings adorns the main door of this 17th century masía (farmhouse) totally transformed by the genial Josep Maria Jujol

Josep Maria Jujol (1879-1949) was also a painter, sculptor, ironworker, graphic designer, and ceramic and stained-glass artist. He developed his unusual architectural style through many years of close, creative collaboration with Antoni Gaudi.

Josep Maria Jujol i Gibert (1879 –1949) was a Catalan architect. Jujol's wide field of activity ranged from furniture designs and painting, to architecture. He worked with Antoni Gaudí on many of his most famous works.

Jujol's work is characterized by a high degree of sensibility to the forms of nature, an emphatically anti-geometric aesthetic, attention to workmanship and detail, as well as the imaginative use of old and previously utilized material.

Jujol's work is an eloquent expression of his affection for the Catalonian landscape, his modesty, and deep religious faith

Jujol's Modernisme was based on a careful treatment of plaster, terracotta and sgraffito on white façades, decorative elements that accompany the dynamism of volumes (especially in freestanding houses) and lively projecting roof lines undulating together with iron, in which the structural merges with the ornamental
