Road safetyUse your device in such a way that you can always safely control your vehicle. In case of doubt, stop at a suitable location and operate your device while the vehicle is standing.

Use as directedThis car sound system is intended for the installa-tion and operation in a vehicle with 12-V vehicle supply voltage. The car sound system is equipped with two integrated loudspeakers and designed

for installation in a vehicle without installed loud-speakers. Observe the output limits of the device. Repairs and installation, if necessary, should be performed by a specialist.

General operation

Switching on/off

Switching on/off with the On/Off button � For switch-on, press the On/Off button 8.

The car sound system switches on. � To switch off the device, press and hold down

the On/Off button 8 for longer than 2 sec-onds.The car sound system switches off .

Notes: • When you switch on the car sound system

for the fi rst time after connecting it to the power supply, the CPU loads all the data. Afterwards, the car sound system switches off . The loading process is not shown on the display.

• If you switch on the car sound system while the vehicle ignition is switched off , it auto-matically switches off after 1 hour to pre-serve the vehicle battery.

Switching on/off via vehicle ignitionIf the car sound system is connected to the vehi-cle’s ignition and you did not switch the device off by pressing the On/Off button 8, it is switched on or off with the ignition.

Volume

Adjusting the volumeYou can adjust the volume in steps from 0 (off ) to 50 (maximum).

� Turn the volume control 9 to change the volume.

Muting the car sound system (Mute) � Briefl y press the On/Off button 8 to mute

the car sound system or to reactivate the pre-vious volume.While it is muted, the display shows "MUTE".

Overview of the menu operationThe following buttons are required to operate the menu:To call up or close the menu,

� briefl y press the button 5.To select a menu item,

� turn the volume control 9. � Press the button 4 to open the selected

menu item.To change the fl ashing setting of a menu item,

� turn the volume control 9.The setting is immediately eff ective and auto-matically stored.

Notes: • The menu is automatically exited approx.

10 seconds after the last button activation and you are returned to the display of the current audio source. The last setting is au-tomatically stored.

• You can press the button 4 in each case to return to the higher menu level.

Changing the presetting of the power-on volumeThe car sound system is factory-set so that it plays back the volume with a value of 20 upon switch-on. You can set the power-on volume in the menu so that the playback after switch-on always starts with the previously selected volume.

� Briefl y press the button 5 to open the menu.

� Turn the rotary control 9 until the "VOL" menu item is selected.

� Press the button 4 to open the submenu. � Turn the rotary control 9 until the "LASTV"

menu item is selected. � Press the button 4 to change the selected

setting. � Turn the volume control 9 to change be-

tween the settings "ON" and "OFF".

Selecting equalizer presettingsThis car sound system features an equalizer in which the settings for the music genres "CLASS" (classic), "ROCK" and "POP" are already pro-grammed.

� Briefl y press the button 5 to open the menu.

� Turn the volume control 9 until the "AUDIO" menu item is selected.

� Press the button 4 to open the submenu. � Press the button 4 again to change the

selected setting. � Turn the volume control 9 to select one of

the presettings or select "EQOFF" to switch off the equaliser.

Switching the confi rmation beep on/off If you press a button for an extended period of time for some functions, a confi rmation beep sounds. You can switch off the confi rmation beep.

� Briefl y press the button 5 to open the menu.

� Turn the rotary control 9 until the "VOL" menu item is selected.

� Press the button 4 to open the submenu. � Turn the volume control 9 until the "BEEP"

menu item is selected. � Press the button 4 to change the selected

setting. � Turn the volume control 9 to change be-

tween the settings "ON" and "OFF".

Radio mode

Setting the reception areaThis car sound system is designed for operation in diff erent regions with diff erent frequency ranges and station technologies. The factory default of the reception area is "EU" (Europe). Other avail-able reception areas are "US" (USA), "SA" (South America) and "TL" (Thailand).If you operate the car sound system outside of Eu-rope, you may fi rst have to set a suitable reception area in the menu:

� Briefl y press the button 5 to open the menu.

� Turn the volume control 9 until the "TUNER" menu item is selected.

� Press the button 4 to open the submenu. � Turn the volume control 9 until the "AREA"

menu item is selected. � Press the button 4 to change the selected

setting. � Turn the volume control 9 to select a recep-

tion area.

RDSMany FM stations broadcast an RDS (Radio Data System) signal in addition to their programme in the reception area "EU" (Europe) that allows the following additional functions: • The station name is shown on the display. • The car sound system recognises traffi c an-

nouncements and can automatically switch them through in other operating modes (e.g. in USB mode).

• Alternate frequency: If RDS is activated, the car sound system automatically selects the best receivable frequency for the station that is cur-rently set.

• Regional: At certain times, some radio sta-tions divide their programme into regional programmes providing diff erent content. If the REGIONAL function is activated, the car

sound system changes only to those alternate frequencies on which the same regional pro-gramme is being broadcast.

The functions RDS and REGIONAL are switched on and off in the menu.

� Briefl y press the button 5 to open the menu.

� Turn the volume control 9 until the "TUNER" menu item is selected.

� Press the button 4 to open the submenu. � Turn the volume control 9 until the "RDS" or

"REG" menu item is selected. � Press the button 4 to change the selected

setting. � Turn the volume control 9 to change be-

tween the settings "ON" and "OFF".

Note:If you adjust a diff erent reception area than "EU" (Europe), RDS is automatically switched off .

Traffi c informationIn the reception area "EU" (Europe), an FM station can identify traffi c reports by means of an RDS signal. If priority for traffi c reports is switched on, a traffi c report is automatically switched through, even if the car sound system is currently not in radio mode. "TRAFFIC" is displayed during a switched-through traffi c announcement.

Note:To cancel a switched-through traffi c an-nouncement, press the SRC button 2.

� Briefl y press the button 5 to open the menu.

� Turn the volume control 9 until the "TUNER" menu item is selected.

� Press the button 4 to open the submenu.

� Turn the volume control 9 until the "TRAF" menu item is selected.

� Press the button 4 to change the selected setting.

� Turn the volume control 9 to change be-tween the settings "ON" and "OFF".

Setting the minimum volume for traffi c announcementsThe volume is increased for the duration of the switched-through traffi c announcement. You can adjust the minimum volume for traffi c announce-ments.

� Briefl y press the button 5 to open the menu.

� Turn the volume control 9 until the "VOL" menu item is selected.

� Press the button 4 to open the submenu. � Turn the volume control 9 until the "TAVOL"

menu item is selected. � Press the button 4 to change the selected

setting. � Turn the volume control 9 the adjust the

minimum volume between 1 and 50.

Changing to radio mode or selecting a wavebandThe following wavebands are available in the dif-ferent reception areas:

Tuning into a stationThere are various ways of tuning into a station:

Starting station seek tuning � Briefl y press the / button 4 to start the

station seek tuning.The radio tunes into the next receivable sta-tion.

Note:For the reception area "EU" (Europe): In the FM waveband, only traffi c information sta-tions are tuned into if the priority for traffi c information is switched on.

Tuning into stations manually � Press the / button 4 for approx. 2 sec-

onds to switch on the manual station seek tuning.

To change the frequency in decrements/incre-ments,

� briefl y press the / button 4 once or sev-eral times.

To change the frequency quickly, � press and hold down the / button 4.

Note:After approx. 5 seconds without any activity, the manual station seek tuning is automati-cally switched off . If you briefl y press the /

button 4 in this case, the car sound sys-tem starts the station seek tuning.

Storing stationsUp to 5 stations can be stored on each waveband.

� Select the desired waveband and adjust the station.

� Press the button 5 for approx. 2 sec-onds to change to the memory location level.

� Use the button 4 to select the memory location (memory locations 1 to 5) to which the set station should be stored.

The memory location number appears on the left side on the display.

� Press the button 4 for approx. 2 seconds to store the station.The system exits the memory location level and the station is stored at the selected mem-ory location.

Note:If the memory location is already occupied, it is overwritten with a new store process.

Calling up a stored station � Select the desired waveband. � Press the button 5 for approx. 2 sec-

onds to change to the memory location level. � Use the button 4 to select the memory

location (memory locations 1 to 5) where the desired station is stored.You hear the stored station with every change of the memory location.

USB mode

Basic informationThis car sound system can be used to play MP3 fi les on USB data carriers.

Note:Blaupunkt cannot guarantee the proper func-tioning of all USB data carriers available on the market.

Note the following information when preparing an MP3 data carrier: • Naming of tracks and directories:

– Max. 24 characters without the fi le exten-sion ".mp3" (the use of more characters reduces the number of tracks and folders that the car sound system can recognise)

– No umlauts or special characters • USB format/fi le system: Mass storage device/

USB mode

• File extension of audio fi les: – .MP3 for MP3 fi les

• Bit rate for creating audio fi les: – MP3: 32 to 320 kbps

• Depending on the data structure on the USB medium, up to 20,000 entries can be managed.

Connecting/removing a USB data carrier

Connecting a USB data carrier � Insert the USB data carrier in the USB socket :.The car sound system automatically switches to USB mode. The data are read in, playback begins with the fi rst track that the device de-tects.

Notes: • If the USB data carrier is defective or the

transferred data cannot be played back, the display briefl y shows "ERROR" and the car sound system changes to the previous audio source.

• This car sound system cannot be used for charging USB device or mobile phone.

Removing a USB data carrier � Disconnect the USB data carrier.

Changing to USB mode � Press the SRC button 2 repeatedly until

"USB" is displayed:

Note:The USB mode can be selected only if a valid USB data carrier is connected.

Selecting tracks � Briefl y press the / button 4 to change

to the previous/next track.

Selecting folders � Press the button 5 for approx. 2 sec-

onds to call up the folder mode.The display shows the symbol.

� Briefl y press the / button 4 to change to the previous/next folder.

Note:After approx. 5 seconds without any activity, the folder mode exits automatically. In this case, use the / button 4 to select a dif-ferent track.

Fast searching � Press and hold down the   /    button 4

until the desired position has been reached.

Playback optionsThe MIX function plays all the tracks of the data carrier in random order. The RPT function plays the current folder repeatedly.The playback options are switched on and off in the menu.

Note:The MIX function is automatically switched off by switching on the RPT function or vice versa.

� Briefl y press the button 5 to open the menu.

� Turn the volume control 9 until the "MEDIA" menu item is selected.

� Press the button 4 to open the submenu. � Turn the volume control 9 until the "MIX" or

"RPT" menu item is selected. � Press the button 4 to change the selected

setting. � Turn the volume control 9 to change be-

tween the settings "ON" and "OFF".

External audio sources

AUX-IN socket

DANGER! Increased risk of injury from connector.

In case of an accident, the protruding connector in the AUX-IN socket may cause injuries. The use of straight plugs or adapters leads to an increased risk of injury.For this reason, it is recommended to use angled jack plugs.

As soon as an external audio source, such as a portable MP3 player, is connected to the AUX-IN socket 7, it can be selected with the SRC button 2. "AUX" then appears on the display.

Factory settingsYou can reset the car sound system to the factory settings.

� Briefl y press the button 5 to open the menu.

� Turn the volume control 9 until the "RESET" menu item is selected.

� Press the button 4 to open the submenu. � Press the button 4.

The display shows "PRESS > TO CONTINUE". � Press the button 4 again to confi rm the

reset.The car sound system switches off and is reset to the factory settings.
