The Blau-punkt editors are constantly working onmaking the operating instructions clear-er and easier to understand. Road safety

Road safety has priority. Only op-erate your radio unit if the road andtraffic conditions allow you to do so.Familiarise yourself with the unit be-fore setting off on your journey.You should always be able to hearpolice, fire and ambulance sirensfrom afar. For this reason, set thevolume of whatever you are listen-ing to to a reasonable level.

InstallationIf you want to install your car radio your-self, please read the installation andconnection instructions that follow theseoperating instructions.

AccessoriesOnly use accessories approved by Blau-punkt.

Remote controlThe optional RC08 or RC10 remotecontrols allow you to safely and conven-iently access the most important func-tions of your car radio from your steer-ing wheel.

AmplifierAll Blaupunkt amplifiers can be used.

CD changerYou can connect the following BlaupunktCD changers:CDC A 06, CDC A 08, CDC A 072 andIDC A 09.You can also connect the CDC A 05 andCDC A 071 CD changers by using aspecial adapter cable (Blaupunkt no.:7 607 889 093).

REMOVABLE CONTROL PANEL

Removable control panel

Theft protectionAs a way of protecting your car radioagainst theft, the unit is equipped witha removable control panel (flip-releasepanel). Without this control panel, thecar radio is worthless to a thief.Protect your car radio against theft bytaking the control panel with you everytime you leave your vehicle. Do not leavethe control panel in your vehicle - noteven in a hiding place. The flip-releasepanel has been designed to be easy touse.

Note: Never drop the control panel.

Never expose the control panel todirect sunlight or other heat sourc-es.

Store the control panel in the sup-plied case

Avoid making direct skin contactwith the control panel’s contacts. Ifnecessary, clean the contacts witha lint-free cloth soaked in alcohol.

Removing the control panel

Press the button 1.

The control panel locking mechanismopens.

First, pull the control panel straightoff the unit and then out towardsthe left.

The unit switches off after the con-trol panel is removed.

All the current settings are saved.

Any CD already inserted in the unitremains there.

Attaching the control panel Slide the control panel from left to

right into the unit’s panel lockingmechanism.

Press the left-hand edge of thecontrol panel into the unit until itclicks into place.

Note: When attaching the control panel,

make sure you do not press thedisplay.

If the unit was still switched on whenyou removed the control panel, the unitwill automatically switch on with the lastsettings activated (i.e. radio, CD, CDchanger, or AUX) when the panel is re-placed.

SWITCHING ON/OFF

Switching on/offThere are various ways of switching theunit on/off.

Switching on/off using the vehicleignition.If the unit is correctly connected to thevehicle’s ignition and it was not switchedoff using button 3, it will switch on/offsimultaneously with the ignition.

You can also switch the unit on even ifthe ignition is off.

To do so, press button 3.

Note:To protect the vehicle battery, the unitwill switch off automatically after onehour if the ignition is off.

Switching on/off using theremovable control panel

Remove the control panel.

The unit switches off.

Attach the control panel again.

The unit switches on. The settings (ra-dio, CD, CD changer or AUX) that wereset before the unit was switched off willbe reactivated.

Switching on/off using button 3

To switch the unit on, press button3.

To switch the unit off, press button3 for longer than two seconds.

The unit switches off.

Switching on by inserting a CDIf the unit is switched off and the CDdrive does not contain a CD,

Press the button 9.

The flip-release panel opens.

Gently insert the CD with the print-ed side uppermost into the CDcompartment until you feel someresistance.

The CD will be drawn automatically intothe drive.You must not hinder or assist the driveas it draws the CD in.

Gently close the control panelwhilst exerting a little pressure untilyou feel it click into place.

The unit switches on. CD playback be-gins immediately.

Volume adjustmentThe volume can be adjusted in stepsfrom 0 (off) to 66 (maximum).

To increase the volume, turn thevolume control 2 to the right.

To decrease the volume, turn thevolume control 2 to the left.

Setting the power-on volume Press the MENU button 8.

Keep pressing the button : un-til “ON VOLUME” appears in thedisplay.

Set the power-on volume using the and buttons :.

If you set the power-on volume to “0”:every time you turn the unit on, the pow-er-on volume will be the same as thevolume level that was set before the unitwas last switched off.

Risk of serious injury! If the pow-er-on volume is set to maximum, thevolume level can be very high whenthe unit is switched on.If the volume was set to maximumbefore the unit was switched off andthe power-on volume is set to “0”, thevolume level can be very high whenthe unit is switched on again. This cancause hearing damage.

When you have finished makingyour changes, press the MENU 8or OK ; button.

VOLUME ADJUSTMENT

Mute - instantaneous volumereductionThis feature allows you to instantane-ously reduce (mute) the volume to a lev-el preset by you.

Briefly press button 3.

“MUTE” appears in the display.

Setting the mute levelYou can set the unit’s mute level.

Press the MENU button 8.

Keep pressing the button : un-til “MUTE LEVEL” appears in thedisplay.

Set the mute level using the and buttons :.

When you have finished makingyour changes, press the MENU 8or OK ; button.

Telephone audio / navigationaudioIf your car radio is connected to a mo-bile telephone or a navigation system,the unit’s volume will be muted as soonas you “pick up” the telephone or assoon as a navigation announcement ismade. The caller or voice output will thenbe heard over the car radio loudspeak-ers. In order for this to work, the mobiletelephone or navigation system must beconnected to the car radio in the man-ner described in the installation instruc-tions.Your Blaupunkt dealer will be able to tellyou which navigation systems can beused with your car radio.

VOLUME ADJUSTMENTIf a traffic announcement is receivedduring a telephone call or whilst a nav-igation announcement is being made,the traffic announcement will only beplayed after the call or voice output isfinished.If you are already listening to a trafficannouncement and a telephone callarrives or the navigation system wish-es to make a voice output, the trafficannouncement will first be heard. Onceit is finished you can then listen to thecall or the voice output.You can set the volume level at whichthe telephone calls and navigation voiceoutput will first be heard.

Press the MENU button 8.

Keep pressing the button : un-til “TEL/NAVI VOL” appears in thedisplay.

Set the mute level using the and buttons :.

When you have finished makingyour changes, press the MENU 8or OK ; button.

Note:You can directly adjust the volume oftelephone calls and navigation voiceoutput using the volume control 2.

Automatic soundThis feature automatically adjusts thevolume of the car radio to suit the speedat which the vehicle is travelling. In or-der for this to work, your car radio mustbe connected in the manner describedin the installation instructions.The automatic sound level can be ad-justed in six steps from (0 to 5).

Press the MENU button 8.

Keep pressing the button : un-til “AUTO SOUND” appears in thedisplay.

Set the automatic sound level us-ing the and buttons :.

When you have finished makingyour changes, press the MENU 8or OK ; button.

Note:The optimum setting for the speed-re-lated automatic sound adjustment fea-ture depends on how noise develops inyour particular vehicle. You will have totest various settings in order to discov-er which is best suited to your vehicle.

Setting the volume of theconfirmation beepFor some functions, you will hear a con-firmation beep if you keep a buttonpressed for longer than two seconds,e.g. after storing a radio station to a sta-tion button you will hear a confirmationbeep. You can set the volume of thisbeep.

Press the MENU button 8.

Keep pressing the button : un-til “BEEP” appears in the display.

Set the volume using the and buttons :. “0” means beep off, “9”means maximum beep volume.

When you have finished makingyour changes, press the MENU 8or OK ; button.

RADIO MODE

Radio modeThis unit is equipped with an RDS radioreceiver. Many of the receivable FM sta-tions transmit a signal that not only car-ries the programme but also additionalinformation such as the station nameand programme type (PTY).The station name appears in the dis-play as soon as it is received.

Switching to radio modeIf you are in CD, CD changer or AUXmode:

Press the BND/ TS button 5.

RDS functions (AF, REG)The RDS functions - AF (AlternativeFrequency) and REG (Regional) - ex-tend your radio’s range of functions.

AF: If this RDS function is activat-ed, the unit automatically tunes intothe best receivable frequency forthe station that is currently set.

REG: At certain times, some radiostations divide their programmeinto regional programmes providingdifferent regional content. You canuse the REG function to preventthe car radio from switching to al-ternative frequencies that aretransmitting different programmecontent.

Note:REG must be separately activated/de-activated in the unit’s menu.

Switching REG on/off

Press the MENU button 8.

Keep pressing the button : un-til “REG” followed by “ON” or “OFF”appears in the display.

To switch REG on/off, press the or button :.

Press the MENU 8 or OK ; but-ton.

Switching the RDS function on/off

To use the RDS functions (AF andREG), press the RDS button 4.

The RDS functions are active when“RDS” lights up in the display with a sym-bol. When the RDS functions areswitched on, “REG ON” or “REG OFF”appears briefly in the display.

Selecting the frequency range /memoryThis unit can receive programmesbroadcast over the FM, MW and LW(AM) frequency ranges. There are threepreset memory levels for the FM rangeand one for each of the MW and LWranges.Six stations can be stored on eachmemory level.

Briefly press the BND/ TS button5 to switch between the memorylevels and frequency ranges.

Tuning into a stationThere are various methods available fortuning into a station.

Browsing through broadcastingnetworks (only FM)If a radio station provides several pro-grammes, you have the option of brows-ing through its so-called “broadcastingnetwork”.

Press the or button : tomove to the next station on thebroadcasting network.

Note:If you want to use this feature, the RDSfunction must first be activated.You will then only be able to switch tostations that you have received oncealready. Use the Travelstore function orSCAN function with this feature.

Setting the sensitivity of thestation search modeYou can configure the radio to only tuneinto stations with a strong reception orto also tune into those with a weak re-ception.

Press the MENU button 8.

Keep pressing the : button un-til “SENS” appears in the display.

Press the button :.

The display shows the currently set val-ue for sensitivity. “SENS HI6” means thatthe tuner is highly sensitive. “SENS LO1”means it is set to the lowest sensitivitysetting. If “SENS LO” is selected, “lo”lights up in the display.

Set the required sensitivity usingthe and buttons :.

When you have finished makingyour changes, press the MENU 8or OK ; button.

Storing stations

Storing stations manually

Select the required memory, i.e.FM1, FM2, FMT or one of the fre-quency ranges MW or LW.

Tune into the required station.

Press one of the station buttons 1 -6 > for longer than two secondsto store the station to that button.

Storing stations automatically(Travelstore)You can automatically store the six sta-tions with the strongest reception in theregion (only FM). The stations are storedin the FMT memory.

Note:Stations that were previously stored inthis memory are deleted in the process.

Keep the BND / TS button 5pressed for longer than two sec-onds.

RADIO MODEThe automatic station storing procedurebegins. “TRAVEL-STORE” appears inthe display. After the process is com-pleted, the station stored in FMT mem-ory location 1 will be played.

Listening to preset stations Select the memory or the frequen-

cy range.

Press the preset station button 1 -6 > of the station you want to lis-ten to.

Scanning receivable stations(SCAN)You can briefly play all the receivablestations. You can set the scanning timeto between 5 and 30 seconds in themenu.

Starting SCAN

Keep the OK button ; pressed forlonger than two seconds.

Scanning begins. “SCAN” briefly ap-pears in the display followed by a flash-ing display of the current station nameor frequency.

Stopping SCAN and continuinglistening to a station

Press the OK button ;.

Scanning is stopped and the station thatwas tuned into last will then continue tobe heard.

Setting the scantime Press the MENU button 8.

Keep pressing the button : un-til “SCANTIME” appears in the dis-play.

Set the required scantime usingthe and buttons :.

When you have finished makingyour changes, press the MENU 8or OK button ;.

Note:The set scantime also applies to scan-ning carried out in CD and CD-changermode.

Programme type (PTY)Besides transmitting the station name,some FM stations also provide informa-tion on the type of programme that theyare broadcasting. Your radio can receiveand display this information.

For example, the programme types canbe:

CULTURE TRAVEL JAZZ

SPORT NEWS POP

ROCK CLASSICS

Using the PTY function, you can direct-ly select stations of a particular pro-gramme type.

As soon as a station is received corre-sponding to the programme type youhave selected, the radio unit automati-cally switches to that station from thecurrently tuned station or from CDmode / CD changer mode.

Selecting a programme type andstarting a search

Press the or button :.

The current programme type appearsin the display.

If you want to select another pro-gramme type, you can do so bypressing the or button :whilst in this display.

Or

Press one of the buttons 1 - 6 >to select a programme type that isstored on one of these buttons.

The selected programme type is dis-played briefly.

Press the or button : to startthe search.

The next station corresponding to yourselected programme type will then betuned into.

Note:If no station is found that correspondsto the selected programme type, you willhear a beep sound and “NO PTY” ap-pears briefly in the display. The stationthat was listened to last will then auto-matically be tuned into again.

Storing a programme type on astation button

Select a programme type using the or button :.

Keep the required station button 1 -6 > pressed for longer than twoseconds.

The programme type is now stored onthe station button 1 - 6 > that you se-lected.

Optimising radio reception

Treble reduction feature duringinterference (HICUT)The HICUT function improves receptionduring poor radio reception (only FM).If interference occurs, the treble is au-tomatically reduced thus reducing theinterference level.

Switching HICUT on/off

Press the MENU button 8.

Keep pressing the button : un-til “HICUT” appears in the display.

Press the or button : to setHICUT.

“HICUT 0” means no reduction will bemade. “HICUT 3” means a maximumautomatic reduction of the treble leveland interference level.

Press the MENU 8 or OK button;.

Bandwidth switching duringinterference (SHARX)The SHARX function allows you tolargely avoid interference caused byneighbouring radio stations (FM only).Switch on the SHARX function if youexperience a high radio station density.

Switching SHARX on/off

Press the MENU button 8.

Keep pressing the button : un-til “SHARX” appears in the display.

Press the or button : toswitch SHARX on/off.

“SHARX OFF” means no automaticbandwidth switching will be carried out.“SHARX ON” means that automaticbandwidth switching will be carried out.

Press the MENU 8 or OK button;.

Displaying scrolling textSome radio stations use the RDS sig-nal to transmit advertising or other in-formation instead of their station name.These scrolling texts appear in the dis-play. You can deactivate the feature fordisplaying scrolling texts.

Keep the RDS button 4 presseduntil “NAME FIX” appears in thedisplay.

To allow scrolling texts to appear inthe display again, keep the RDSbutton 4 pressed until “NAMEVAR” appears in the display.

Setting the displayWhen in radio mode, you have the op-tion of continuously displaying the timeor continuously displaying the stationname or frequency.

Keep the / DIS button 7pressed until the required displayappears.

TRAFFIC INFORMATION RECEPTION

Traffic informationreceptionYour radio unit is equipped with an RDS-EON receiver. EON stands for En-hanced Other Network.If you are listening to a radio station thatdoes not broadcast traffic informationbut which is part of a station networkthat does, you will automatically beswitched to a station within the networkproviding traffic information every timea traffic announcement (TA) is transmit-ted.Once the traffic announcement is over,you will be switched back to the radiostation that you were listening to before.

Switching traffic informationpriority on/off Press the TRAF button ?.

Priority for traffic announcements is ac-tivated when the traffic symbol lights upin the display.

Note:You will hear a warning sound:

if you leave the reception area of atraffic information station that youare currently listening to.

if, while listening to a CD, you leavethe reception area of a traffic infor-mation station that you are tunedinto and the subsequent automaticsearch cannot find a new traffic in-formation station.

if you retune the radio from a trafficinformation station to a station thatdoes not broadcast traffic informa-tion.

If you hear the warning sound, you caneither switch off traffic information pri-ority or tune into a station that broad-casts traffic information.

Setting the trafficannouncement volume Press the MENU button 8.

Keep pressing the button : un-til “TA VOLUME” appears in the dis-play.

Set the required volume using the and buttons :.

CD modeYou can use this unit to play standardCDs with a diameter of 12 cm.

Switching loudness on/offIf loudness is activated, the bass andtreble levels are aurally compensated,i.e. they are increased at lower volumelevels.

EqualizerThis unit is equipped with a parametricdigital equalizer. In this case, paramet-ric means that one frequency can beincreased or decreased (GAIN +8 to -8) individually for each of the five filters.

The following filters are available:

SUB LOW EQ 32 - 50 Hz

LOW EQ 63 - 250 Hz

MID EQ 315 - 1,250 Hz

MID/HIGH EQ 1,600 - 6,300 Hz

HIGH EQ 8,000 - 12,500 Hz

These filters can be set without the needfor measuring equipment. They will al-low you to significantly influence thesound characteristics in your vehicle.

Notes on adjusting the settingsWe recommend you use a CD that youare familiar with for making changes tothe settings.

Before adjusting the equalizer, set theaudio and volume distribution settingsto zero and deactivate loudness. Forfurther details, refer to the chapter enti-tled “Audio and volume distribution set-tings”.

Analyse the sound impression.

Now read the “Sound impression”section in the table entitled “Helpadjusting the equalizer.”

Your car radio has a TMC outputto which you can connect Blaupunktnavigation systems. You can find outfrom your Blaupunkt dealer which nav-igation systems can be used with yourcar radio.

When a navigation system is connect-ed and a TMC station is being received,TMC lights up in the display.
