Mr. Wu has served at ICES for a number of years and has played a key role in its development into one of the most popular schools for international student education in Shanghai.

The International Student’s Association plans to set up an

environmental protection program through Roots & Shoots

beginning this semester. The program will seek to reduce

waste, encourage recycling, and educate international

students about ways they can protect their environment.

on ICS, Rebecca Miller or (二妞 as she’s known

on the set), was joined by ISA President, Keson Tinker as the leading cast for ICS’s “In Chinese” beginning April, 2010. The show teaches Chinese to foreigners in the form of stage plays and dramas that highlight the main points of each lesson. Check ICS’s website for the current show schedule.

2010 CIP Int’l Forum Begins

2010年CIP国际论坛活动开幕

At noon on May 31st, 2010, on the invitation of the ICES Center for International Programs, former Brazilian Ambassador to Malaysia and Brunei and current Consul General of Brazil in Shanghai, H.E. Mr. Marcos Caramuru de Paiva visited Donghua University to deliver the keynote address at the opening of the 2010 CIP International Forum. His presentation covered subjects related to current economic conditions in Brazil, as well as Sino-Brazilian cooperation.

H.E. Mr. Marcos Caramuru de Paiva was the former Secretary General for Brazil at the United Nations, Secretary at the Brazilian Embassy in Caracas, Executive Director of the World Bank Group, as well as the official spokesperson for the Brazil Ministry of Finance among other notable posts. His extensive readings and research, and in particular on the Asian economy, has given him the ability to present a more authoritative approach to the global economy,

as well as China’s economic development and potential and shortcomings, especially its commercial and investment activities. He also conducted a dialogue with the teachers and students in the audience on hot topics concerning Sino-Brazilian cooperation.

The presentation lasted for an hour in total. The report followed with a vote of thanks and presentation of a commemorative gift by ICES Dean, Mr. Gu Bohong.

The event marked the beginning of the Spring 2010 CIP International Forum, and attracted over 50 students. With hard work and dedication for the students and administrators at CIP, we’re certain the International Forum will continue to make rave reviews.

以及世界银行集团行政董事、巴

西财政部部长办公室发言人等，

丰富的阅历尤其是对亚洲经济的

了解使其能从多角度关注世界经

济动向以及中国经济发展的潜力

和不足，特别是在中国进行投资

或进行其他商务行为的注意事

项。帕伊瓦先生还和在座师生共

同探讨了一些中巴合作热点话

题。

整场报告持续了一小时，气

氛热烈。最后，东华大学国际文

化交流学院顾伯洪院长向帕伊瓦

先生赠送了礼物，表示感谢。

本次活动是 CIP国际论坛

2010年春季学期第一次活动，吸

引了50多名留学生参加。相信在

CIP师生的共同努力之下，国际

论坛会越办越好！

Since 2007, Shanghai Ministry of Education has been offering a number of scholarships through Donghua University to qualified foreign students. Over the last three years, fifty-four international students were awarded full or partial scholarships to pursue various undergraduate and graduate degrees at Donghua University.

On April 10, 2010, classes began for the 32 business professionals who registered for the spring 2010 ICES Business Chinese Course. The class is comprised of an elite group of businessmen and businesswomen from 10 countries who live and work in Shanghai. They represent top firms such as Rieter Textile, E. Land Group, Whirlpool, Lotte, Sharp, Standard Chartered, Burson-Marsteller, Fuji Film, and other world renowned enterprises.

begins at ICES

周末商务汉语班开课


After an event-filled semester, the forty-nine

students from L'Ecole Supérieure de

Commerce d'Amiens (SUPCO-AMIENS) in

France have all successfully completed all

the requirements outlined in their syllabus.

A completion ceremony, attended by ICES

Vice Dean, Mrs. Song Wei, and moderated

by Director of Admissions & Development,

Miss Frances, was held on April 2, 2010 in

the ICES Teaching & Research Building. The

students in this program not only learned

the Chinese language and required business

courses; they also were immersed into

Chinese culture, and had the unique

opportunity of engaging in various on

campus social and sporting activities. Seven

students in the group were also presented

with the “Award for Academic Excellence”

for their outstanding overall performance

during the course.

经过一个月的努力学习，49名来自法国

L'Ecole Supérieure de Commerce d'Amiens

(SUPCO-AMIENS) 的同学们于4月2日迎来

了结业典礼。他们在东华大学不仅学习汉

语和中国商务课程，还与中国学生和留学

A group of twelve students from several universities in Finland have arrived on the Donghua University campus. They will participate in a variety of courses ranging from Chinese language to Material Science, and will conduct research in a number of textile related fields depending on their different majors. The program will continue over the next

For the very first time since assuming office, Consul

General of the Republic of South Korea in Shanghai,

Mr. Jin Zheng Ji along with officials from the Korean

Consulate in Shanghai, visited the West Yan’an Road

Campus of Donghua University on Monday, April 12,

2010. DHU Vice President, Professor Dr. Liu

Chunhong, ICES Dean, Mr. Gu BoHong, and other

school officials attended the meeting. Plans were

discussed to further develop ties and enhance and

strengthen cooperation in the field of international

education between institutions in South Korea and

Donghua.

校区会见韩国驻上海总领事金正基先生一行三

人。国际文化交流学院顾伯洪院长、招生拓展

部车京花副主任、兼职教授禹守根（韩）参加

了此次会见。

刘春红副校长首先对金正基总领事一行的

来访表示欢迎，并介绍了我校的基本情况以及

目前我校与韩国政府及高校的合作与交流情

况。自2005年开始，我校与韩国政府劳工部合

作，成功举办了13期韩国商务实务进修班，共

有近550名韩国学生参加了该项目。金正基总领

事对此表示感谢，并提出在未来将更深入地促

进韩国政府与我校的合作。

会谈中，刘副校长还对“环东华时尚创意

产业集聚区规划”进行了简要介绍。金正基总

领事称，首尔正在与上海建立友好姐妹城市，

他将努力促进韩国政府或高校与我校展开更积

极广泛的交流合作。

会见后，金正基总领事还为国际文化交流

学院的韩国留学生作了关于中国经济与韩国的

关系以及韩国青年在其中作用为主题的精彩演

讲。

Coordination at ISA, Isaac Asare from

Ghana, leads the fifteen-member

team into its first series outside the

Donghua University campus. The

team will play each week for ten

weeks against various teams

consisting strictly of foreigners in the

city. The ASAS Super Seven social

soccer league was established in

2006. They specialize in the

operation of 7-a-side leagues. Our

leagues aim to give everybody the

opportunity to play social soccer

matches in a professional and good

structured environment, where the

emphasis is on participation,

inclusion and fair play. Games are

held weekly at the Jing’An Workers

Stadium located on No. 888 Chang

Ping Road.

On April 16th, 2010 a group of 20 eager

foreign students from ICES visited the

Tongxiang Experimental Middle School in

Zhejiang Province. Under the direction of

program organizer Ms. Lin Lu, the students

engaged in a weekend filled with fun and

laughter. One that they will certainly never

forget. Among the exciting line-up of events

this year were a cross cultural concert,

sporting match, cultural presentations and

language exchange programs.

Cross cultural exchange and cooperation has

always been a focal point of ICES’ approach

to international student education.

The city of Kunshan trembled with excitement

during the Kunshan in my Eyes Photography

Competition. The event attracted a historical

number of international students from Donghua

University, who unleashed their powerful lenses

on the city, capturing thousands of crystal clear,

stunning images. The opening ceremony of this

year’s event was swarmed with the media, who

naturally gravitated to the color and excitement

generated by our ICES students, even engaging

in live interviews and extensive reports by

various television stations. The trip was

absolutely free, and afforded our international

students with the chance to immerse themselves

in the local culture, practice their photography

skills, and of course expand their social

networks.

牡丹相约尚湖游园会”

A team of 8 students from CIP were

among the group of foreigners who

visited Changshu on Saturday, April

17th. The trip took the students

through the exotic Peony flower

gardens that lace the infamous Shang

Lake. Due to the mild climate and

terrain there, Changshu has enjoyed a

high level of agriculture civilization

since ancient times, and is named

after this, for in Chinese Chang (常)

means “always, often” and Shu (熟)

has the meaning of “crop harvest”.

本月的活动是参观上海动物园。4月21日下

午1：15学生在学院大厅集合后向动物园出发。

在动物园里，学生们兴奋地跟动物们打着招呼。

我们看了很多很多的动物，有模仿力超强的鸵

鸟、喜欢炫耀自己美丽羽毛的孔雀、体态可爱的

企鹅、游泳姿势相当优雅的天鹅、憨态可掬的河

马、“目中无人”的大猩猩、俯瞰一切的长颈

鹿、上下窜跳的松鼠和非常配合拍照的中国国

宝——大熊猫等等，学生们和这些可爱的动物们

Its Summer Time

A s the cold weather fades away and the sunshine makes its long awaited arrival, the wardrobes will emerge. Some will be a fantastic hit, while others will border along

a dreadful miss. Whether it’s street fashion, high fashion, old cuts or new styles, no one can deny that’s its all going to depend on the pocket books. Make no mistake, this economic recession has left some of us with hands between our legs and terrified at the sound of bills. Do not despair. Dressing up is far from what we perceive to mean going on shopping sprees and spending well over our budget on the latest trends. It’s not about how much money you spend what makes you give a good impression when you “strut your stuff” on the sidewalks. What stands out above everything else is swagger, and your ability to turn eyes with stylish yet affordable attire. Well how do I do this? It’s really very simple and doesn’t require that much time. A few things you should remember when dressing for less will keep you on track and have everyone asking you for fashion tips. Ok, lets not waste anymore time. I have put together 20 rules that promise to make you better dressed and more cost conscious. 1. Taste is more important than money- This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t invest in your clothing, but real “Fashionistas” know where to splurge and where to cut cost 2. Start at stores that have high style and low cost- H&M, Uniqlo etc., are packed with cool stuff that help you mix and match your outfits. Remember its all about different pieces, colors and styles mixing together to produce that wardrobe masterpiece 3. Beware of the Sale Sign- Of course these items are attractive to the eye but there is no point in buying a high-fashion leftover item at 70% off and not end up wearing it. You’re not saving money but definitely wasting it. 4. Focus on accessories – They always fit and you’re

likely to find the color and style you like and want. 5. Take care of what’s in your closet – Most times improving your look doesn’t require buying anything new at all. It’s really about taking care of what’s in your closet. Remember it‘s all about style and mix matching. Don’t be fooled though, if the shirt your grandmother gave you is already reaching your elbows then its time to get rid of it. Use your discretion; grandma will be happy you’ve grown up. 6. Online shopping can be time consuming - Know where the deals are and personally go and purchase them yourself. 7. Online or off, know what you are shopping for in advance - This is a good way to discipline yourself to only spend money on things you really need. 8. Find your local Wal-Mart store - Whether you believe it or not, no one can live on the cheap without heading to a Wal-Mart store at least once. Wal-Mart provides a collection of items that you can put together to produce stylish, affordable attire. 9. You can save all year round - The difference between paying full price and half price for anything

all depends on when you walk into the store 10. Find yourself a great tailor – No one will help you get more out of your clothes you just bought or already own like your own private tailor. Once you find one, manage him. Don’t let him tell you how

much of a break you need in your trousers. You’re the boss. 11. Don’t buy shorts, make them – Are you nuts? Seriously make them. Find a pair of old khakis or long jeans to sacrifice and grab that old fashion scissors. Remember style beats money. 12. Wear less name brands- Wearing name brands from head to toe doesn’t make you stylish, it makes you look like a mannequin 13. Be your own barber – Now I know some folks

are like oh hell no, but what’s the point in trying to save if you aren’t willing to keep a few bucks in your pocket by shaving your own head. Stop being lazy, its really not that difficult. 14. Get your khakis – Wear the hell out of your khakis this summer. They’re cheap and also make pretty good mix matchers. 15. Splurge on quality dress shoes – There comes a

time when you must buy good quality products, and dress shoes are one of them. Take care of them and they’ll last a lifetime 16. Mix the high and low - Too many people think quality = expensive. Not true. You need to start thinking of your clothes as investments you will have for your whole life—not just an of-the-moment. For example, if you’re one of those persons who can’t wear cheap jeans, then splurge on your jeans and wear more affordable tops. Remember try not to look like a mannequin. 17. Remember its all about style – Dressing well is not about labels- it’s about developing a personal style. Step out from the crowd and become your own stylist 18. Keep the footwear to the minimum – You don’t really need a different pair of shoes for every outfit. You’re not two years old when your parents dressed you up and made sure everything matched. Stick with the neutral colors. Black, White. Blue, Grey etc. 19. Limit the jeans purchases – You definitely don’t need to have 10 pairs of jeans in your wardrobe. Wear your jeans until they fade, they can handle it. Blue, black, white and Grey are preferable colors this summer. 20. Discipline yourself – Don’t be a spoil kid in a toy store. You’re an adult, discipline yourself, and know your limits. Follow these few steps, and you’ll be on your way to

another stylish and affordable summer yet. If you feel

In 1897, Austrian businessman Emil Jellinek traveled from his home in Nice, France to purchase a car from the Daimler factory in Cannstatt, Germany. On his return to the French Riviera, his sporting Daimler Phoenix caused such a sensation that he decided to enter it into a local touring competition, under the name of “Mercedes” after his favorite 9 year old daughter. Realizing the business potential for the new car, he not only placed an order for 36 more, but also secured the franchise for selling them in several countries. Gottlieb Daimler also agreed to have them sold under the name of “Mercedes.”

The Mercedes trade name was registered after Daimler’s death in 1900 and the 3-pointed star became the trade mark. Daimler had once drawn the emblem on a postcard to his wife, the star symbolizing the growth of the business into transport on land, sea and air.

For Karl Benz, a name for his automobile was simple: he enclosed his name in a cogwheel to exemplify the solidness of his engineering works at Mannheim. The cogwheel later became a laurel wreath.

After the First World War the Daimler and Benz companies worked closer together, generally advertising on the same posters. They incorporated in 1926, combining the laurel wreath and 3-pointed star as their trade mark.

Interestingly, although Gottlieb Daimler and Karl Benz were two of the major pioneers in the automotive industry, they probably never met, even though they lived only 100km (60 miles) from each other in Germany. Daimler passed away in 1900. Daimler-Benz merged in 1926.

我在德国读大学时，除

了学习法律还学习汉语。我

们中文系的一位教授曾经介

绍过上海的生活情况，我还

记得他报告中的总结：“随

着生产的发展，上海人的生

活水平越来越高，跟我们国

家的生活条件差不多。”因

为他是一位有名的教授，所

以我仔细听了他的报告。介

绍归介绍，我还是难以想象

上海这个城市有多发达。

现在我就住在上海，所

以知道住在上海的人很多，

每天交通工具运载的乘客也

非常多。但是即使是在高峰

时期，我也是至多等待五分

钟就可以坐上地铁。无论是

到浦东还是去虹桥，坐地铁

和乘公共汽车都是又方便又

便宜。我在上海生活还不到

八个月，我觉得上海的公共

交通工具很安全，没有看到

任何严重的事故。但是，我

对地铁的运行时间不是很满

意，晚上十二点半左右，末

班车就开走了。如果你赶不

上末班车，你就得打车回

家。我觉得打的也很舒服，

不过有时候出租车司机试图

欺骗外国人，他们以为我们

对上海不熟悉，可能我们得

付比中国人多两倍的价钱。

好在我们可以投诉出租车司

机，所以这也不是一个大问

题。

总之，来到上海以后，

我真的对上海刮目相看了。

我的奶奶已经是八十多

岁的老人了。爷爷逝世以

后，她的身体不太好。

有一天，她生病了，虽然

只是感冒，但是没有体力，

所以我父母决定让她住院。

起初奶奶不同意住院，可是

我父母工作很忙，平时也不

在家，没有人能照顾她，于

是父母拼命地劝说，她终于

同意了。

当时我觉得奶奶很可怜，

父母把她当做碍事的人，于

是我下课以后经常去医院看

她。奶奶每天看见我就嘻嘻

地笑。她常常讲以前的事情

给我听。比如她小时候吃什

高兴。

她说的话之中，包括与爷

爷认识的话题。她说他们是

经人介绍结的婚，所以开头

她不愿意结婚，因为她有心

上人。但当时孩子对父母的

决定是不可抗拒的，所以最

后她跟爷爷结了婚。结婚以

后奶奶慢慢接受了新生活。

她说：“你爸爸出生的时

候，我特别高兴，感到了当

妈妈的喜悦。”可是，在她

说话的时候，我总觉得她的

神情是悲哀的。

两个星期以后，我去医院

的时候，在院子里看到奶奶

跟一位陌生的老人一起坐着

聊天。那个老人离开以后，

我问奶奶那个老人的事情。

奶奶说，他一直住在医院，

他的孩子都不来看他，所以

很寂寞。奶奶看不下去就跟

他认识了。后来我有时候看

到奶奶跟他聊天的样子，我

觉得她们已经变成了好朋

友。

其实我以前跟那个老爷爷

讲过话，那时奶奶在病房里

睡觉。那个老人带着一个破

破烂烂的、红颜色的护身

符，但是非常珍惜这个护身

符。我问他：“老爷爷，你

拿着的东西是什么？”他带

着怀念的神情说：“这个是

我去打仗的时候，好朋友给

我的。因为我带着这个护身

符，所以能活着回来。唉，

我好久没见过她了，现在她

在干什么呢„„？”老爷爷

仰望着湛蓝的天空，我感到

那个护身符对他来说是很重

要的东西。

有一天，我从医院出去

的时候，医生们慌慌张张地

走过去，不知道为什么，当

时我没注意。第二天，进奶

奶的房间的时候，看到她默

默地站在窗户旁边，看着外

面。我问她：“奶奶，你为

什么站在那里？那里比较冷

吧。”但是她只是说：“没

事。”我比较担心，过了一

会，她平静地说起以往的事

情来。

奶奶在第二次世界大战开

始的八年前出生。她有一个

青梅竹马的朋友，他俩小时

候一起玩、一起生活。当时

他们发誓：如果长大了，他

们一定结婚。不过，大战开

始以后，他们的生活改变

了。不但不能天天玩，而且

十四岁以上的男孩子都要参

军，她的朋友也不能例外。

奶奶很担心，如果他阵亡的

话„„。她一直等这个朋

友，大战结束后还在等着，

可是他没回来，结婚之前，

她从父母那听说他在战场上

阵亡了。

“但那是我父母骗我放弃

他而说的谎话，其实他活

着。”奶奶带着温和的神情

说。“那么你会跟他见面

吗？”我这样问她后，她接

着说：“会的，不过，他不

知道。”奶奶流露出很伤心

的样子。“他没发现我就走

了，但他还是带着我做给他

的护身符，只有这个事情让

我感到安慰„„”。

直到这时，我才知道奶奶

的“他”就是医院里的那个

老爷爷。然后才明白昨天回

家的时候，为什么医生们忙

忙碌碌地走来走去，因为那

个老爷爷昨天去世了。我又

问奶奶：“你没有后悔

吗？”这时候我内心感到紧

张，然而奶奶点了下头。

“我没有后悔，因为如果没

跟你爷爷结婚，就没有你爸

爸和你。”接着笑着看着我

说：“在这里我们能再见

面，就够了。”然后她轻轻

地抚摩我的头。

我突然发现奶奶很幸

福，于是知道了“结婚”是

幸福的事情。

成语是人们长期以来习用的、简洁精

辟的定型词组或短句。它是比词大而语法

功能又相当于词的语言单位。成语大多由

四个字组成，一般都有出处。成语最大的

特点是具有“历史性”。成语大多是从历

史故事、神话寓言、经典名言中概括而

来，它们被使用了上千年。有的可以从字

面上了解它的意思，如“小题大做”、

“三言两语”等，有的成语则必须了解它

的来源、典故及其发展变化，才能真正理

解它的含义，如“杯弓蛇影”“朝三暮

四”等。

下面为大家介绍两个成语，它们是形

容女子相貌的。“闭月羞花”和“沉鱼落

雁”，这两个成语是形容女子容貌非常美

丽的。这两个成语来自四个美丽的故事。

“闭月”“羞花”“沉鱼”“落雁”分别

指的是中国古代的四位美女，她们是貂

蝉、杨玉环、西施、王昭君。

相传，三国时汉献帝的大臣司徒王允

的义女貂婵在后花园拜月时，忽然轻风吹

来，一片浮云把皎洁的明月遮住了。这正

好被王允看见。王允为宣扬他的女儿长得

漂亮，遇到别人就说：“我的女儿和月亮

比美，月亮比不过，就赶紧躲在云彩后面

去了。从此，貂婵也就被人们称为“闭

月”了。

“羞花”的故事发生在中国的唐朝。

当时有一个美貌的姑娘叫杨玉环，被选进

皇宫中。杨玉环进宫后，思念家乡。一

天，她到花园赏花散心，看见盛开的牡

丹、月季„„想到自己被关在宫内，感到

难过，就对着盛开的花说：“花呀，花

呀！你年年岁岁还有盛开的时候，我什么

时候才有出头之日呢？”说着，她伸手摸

了摸眼前的鲜花，花瓣立即缩了起来，绿

叶也卷起低下去了。这一切被一个宫女看

见了，就到处说，杨玉环和花比美，花儿

都含羞低下了头。从此，杨玉环就被人们

称为“羞花”。

“沉鱼”的故事则发生在春秋战国时

期。那时，越国有一个浣纱的姑娘，叫西

施，五官端正，粉面桃花，相貌过人。她

在河边浣纱时，清彻的河水映照着她俊俏

的身影，使他显得更加美丽，这时，鱼儿

看见她的倒影，忘记了游水，渐渐地沉到

了河底。从此，西施就得到了“沉鱼”的

称号。

“落雁”的故事发生在汉代，当时汉

朝的皇帝为了与匈奴建立良好的关系，在

民间挑选了美丽的女子王昭君与单于结成

姻缘，希望用这样的方式保证两国永远友

好相处。中国古代这种方式叫“和亲”。

在一个秋高气爽的日子里，昭君告别了故

乡，启程去匈奴。想到从此再也不能回故

乡，让她心情难以平静，就在坐骑之上，

拨动琴弦，奏起悲壮的离别之曲。南飞的

大雁听到这悦耳的琴声，看到骑在马上的

这个美丽女子，忘记摆动翅膀，跌落到地

上。从此，人们就用“落雁”代称王昭

君。

后来，人们常用这两个成语形容非

常美丽的女子。例：

（1）她卸了浓妆，换上了淡雅的衣

服，大家抬头一看，真有沉鱼落雁之容，

闭月羞花之貌。

（2）她年轻的时候非常美，真可称

得上是闭月羞花。

这两个成语能让人发挥无尽的想象，

把女子的美貌形容得淋漓尽致。由此可

见，大多数成语是经历了漫长历史的考

验，具有言简意赅、形象生动的优点。在

日常语言或作文中如果能用上一些成语，

不但能增强表达效果，而且可以使词汇更

加丰富多彩。

网络已经成为我们大家生

活、学习、工作中不可缺少的一

部分了，尤其对于年轻人来说，

互联网是重要的交际方式。这次

我们就来说几个跟网络有关的流

行语。

“菜鸟和达人”

不管做什么，每个人都一

定是从“菜鸟”开始的。“菜

鸟”就是指“新手”，在某方面

没有经验的人。这个词不但网络

上可以用，在日常生活中也已经

被广泛接受。

例：不好意思，我是个菜

鸟，麻烦你帮我一下。

有时候，“菜”也可以单

独作形容词使用，表示没有经

验，水平较低。

例：你也太菜了，这个都

不会。

我的英语很菜。

与“菜鸟”相反的词语是

“达人”，指“高手”，也就是

说，在某方面水平很高、很有经

验的人，与“专家”一词类似。

例：他是欧美流行音乐的

达人，你有这方面的问题可以向

他请教。

需要注意的是，一般

“达”不能单独用作形容词。

“恐龙”和“青蛙”

恐龙和青蛙原本是两种动

物，但在网络用语里，“恐龙”

被用来称呼丑女，也就是长得不

太好看的女生，青蛙则专指丑

男。

例：我昨天和网友见面

了，天哪，居然是只青蛙！

“灌水”和“潜水”

“灌水”作为网络流行

语，指的是在论坛里说一些没有

太大意义的话。“潜水”则指专

门在论坛里看别人的帖子，而自

己并不发表任何看法。两个词语

都是动词。

例：A：我昨天在网上灌了

一天的水。

B：我不喜欢灌水，我

一般都在BBS潜水。

国际商务礼仪是商务人员在

国际贸易活动中，用以维护国家

或企业形象，用以维护个人形象

的行为规范，对交往的对象表示

尊重友好礼貌的行为规范。

企业形象是企业的生命，商

务人员是企业形象的代表，也是

企业形象的主要塑造者。作为一

个商务人员在国际贸易活动中，

要表现出自己良好的职业形象，

就必须学习和实践国际通用的商

务礼仪。

（一）国际商务礼仪的基本准则

简单地说有五大基本准则：

第一，尊重他人和自重的原

则。在商务活动中，即使意见不

同，也必须用商量的态度来解决

矛盾，常用“能不能”、“好不

好”这些短语婉转地表达自己的

想法，既让对方感觉到了你对他

的尊重，同时也给了对方选择的

余地。又如：商务宴请中喝酒一

定要有节制，对客户可以敬酒但

不要劝酒。至于自己喝醉酒更是

很不得体的事，是不自重的表

现。

第二，守时的原则。商务活

动中，约定了会面的时间绝对不

可以迟到，或随意临时改时间。

尊重别人的时间，要学会耐心等

待，不能随意插在别人前面办事

或谈话。

第三，认清主客地位的原

则。对待来访者要讲礼貌，周到

待人。为客人开门、引路，进出

电梯都要遵循规定。而作为客

人，在别人的公司里，走路、敲

门也要注意讲究礼貌，不能随便

入座，自己倒茶。

第四，避免打扰他人的原

则。商务人员在大堂、电梯、走

廊公共场合，大声说笑、打手

机，都是用噪音打搅了别人。又

如，未经同意随意地取走别人桌

上的文具作为己用，也是打扰了

他人的行为。

第五，避免谈论隐私的原

则。无论是自己或他人的财务、

病痛、婚姻或家庭悲剧都属于隐

私范围，商务人员不宜在谈论公

事时涉及。

When it comes to belly dancing, there is only one name in

Donghua. Your study experience in Shanghai would not be

complete if you’ve never seen Ms. Chandra perform live.

Affectionately known as “Sovi” by close friends, this

Indonesian goddess of the big stage has been mesmerizing

audiences in Donghua and in some of the top venues around

Shanghai with her stunning Broadway quality dance routines.

Sovi’s latest feat was her performance in the 2010 Shanghai

Expo Foreign Students Talent Competition. When Sovi stepped

on the stage to the tune of the chart-topping hit “Jai Ho”, the

crowd simply went wild. From her exotic costume to her

enticing body art and long flowing locks, this was by far one of

her best performances ever.

Jay, a native of South Korea, has represented Donghua at

several events in Shanghai, and has won several awards for his

shows including third place prize for his magic show at this

years competition. He is also a former member of the ISA.

Keson B. Tinker

（柯森）

Multi-award winning singer, host, and now actor, Keson

Tinker needs very little introduction to the Donghua

community. He was been the face of Donghua at countless

government organized and other events at just about all the

top venues in the city. He is widely known around our campus

and Shanghai for his classical baritone renditions of Chinese

arias, and, of course, his impeccable Chinese.

Keson is pictured left with famous television host from the 艺

术人文channel, Si Wenjia （司文嘉）at the opening of this

years competition. Keson hosted the event solo during the

preliminaries, and was unanimously selected by the event

organizers to make a come back for the finals.

I t is already being dubbed as one of the most thrilling events of the year by

international students. And for a special group of foreign students from

Donghua University, the 2010 “China Dream” Foreigners Talent Competition

was much more than just a competition.

Donghua University selected three contestants to represent it at this years

competition: Soviani Chandra from Indonesia, Jay Kim from South Korea, and

the Donghua University International Student’s Chamber Choir. With the

preliminaries already held back in March, the three contestants had ample time

to “get it together” for this years show. And they certainly did. The choir and

Jay Kim’s performances each won third place, and all the contestants were

selected to perform in the live recording at the Shanghai Theatre Academy

Performing Arts Center.

It was certainly a grand event with all the pomp and pageantry that you’d

expect from a red carpet event in Shanghai. Under the patronage of the

government of Shanghai and several other agencies around the city, the event

turned out to be an inspiring experience for all those in attendance.

上海市外国留学生“留华梦世博情”中华才艺展演暨颁奖仪式于4月16日在上海

戏剧学院大剧场隆重举行，我校刘春红副校长应邀出席。

此次活动由上海市文联和上海市教委联合主办，上海翻译家协会、上海演艺

工作者联合会和上海外国留学生教育管理研究会等单位联合承办，历时半年，共

吸引全市19所高校来自50个国家近200名外国留学生参加。经过层层选拔，我校

选送的3个节目从各高校选送的近50个节目中脱颖而出，全部进入了最后的才艺展

演阶段。

我校选送的节目形式多样、创意多彩。由多国留学生组成的东华大学国际合

唱团演唱民歌《半个月亮爬上来》，和声悠扬，动听的歌声让整个会场沉浸在优

美的意境中；来自印度尼西亚的留学生陈可欣为观众们带来活力四射的肚皮舞，

现场气氛相当热烈；我校还与兄弟院校友情合作，我校韩国留学生金载益和上海

中医药大学留学生合作表演节目《PK魔术》，将西方魔术和中国传统魔术巧妙结

合，引起会场阵阵惊叹声。最后，节目《半个月亮爬上来》和《PK魔术》荣获三

等奖，为我校赢得了荣誉。

我校不仅选送了精彩节目，而且活动主持人也是由我校来自巴哈马的留学生

柯森与上海艺术人文频道专业主持人共同担任。柯森一亮相就赢得全场热烈的掌

声，在主持过程中，他的咬字和语速非常地道，对舞台的掌控也颇有经验，获得

了教育部、上海市及各高校出席领导的关注。

我校参与此次活动，不仅充分展示了东华大学留学生的风采与良好的精神风

貌，而且也表达了留学生们对中国文化的倾心和热爱，表达了留学生们参与世

博、奉献世博的美好心愿！

The Campus Times uncovers the mysteries of the

man behind the mask.

When did you arrive in Shanghai?

I arrived in Shanghai in September of 2007.

What attracted you to Donghua University?

Well, first of all, Shanghai and Korea are incredibly close, which means that

I’m never far away from home. Secondly, I have always had an interest in

China and grasped the opportunity to deepen my understanding of its

culture, language, and history. The thought of studying in Shanghai, and

developing meaningful relationships with other international students from

all over the world was also a selling point for me. I love the thought of being

able to use a foreign language to make new friends. On top of that, there

weren’t many Koreans here in Donghua when I applied, so I guess that was

a huge selling point for me too. Oh, and how could I forget, I heard that the

service at Donghua was like second to none...basically like the best in

Shanghai, so I was eager to come here and live the “Donghua life”.

When did begin to develop an interest in Magic?

Ever since I was sixteen years old, watching friends perform even the

simplest magic tricks, I started to like it. It was almost like love at first sight.

What are you studying? What do you plan to do after graduation?

I’m currently pursuing a Bachelors degree in Tourism Management, and

when I’m done...in another two years hopefully...I would like to work in

Australia or Taiwan and work in the hotel industry in either of those

countries. At least that’s my plan for now.

Is studying Chinese

stressing you out?

Try our new study tips

By now, we’re sure you think Chinese is like the most

difficult language on the planet. Don’t worry, the Campus

Times has got you covered with tips and tricks to ease

pressure and maximize efficiency.

Starting university in a foreign country is stressful for most international students. How you cope with the stress is the key to whether it develops into a health problem or not.

Stress is a natural feeling, designed to help us cope in challenging situations. In small amounts, it’s good because it pushes you to work hard and do your best. Stress heightens the senses and your reaction times, which means it can enhance your performance, including in exams.

Leaving home to start college, especially for those students from Europe and The Americas, means lots of big changes – such as moving to a new area, being separated from friends and family, establishing a new social network, managing on a tight budget and starting your studies…in Chinese!

For most foreign students, these changes are exciting and challenging but, for some, they become so overwhelming that unpleasant symptoms develop.

The first signs of stress overload are: irritability, sleep problems,

headaches, dizziness.

Loss of appetite.

Too much stress can lead to physical and psychological problems such as: anxiety (feelings ranging from uneasiness to severe and paralyzing panic), dry mouth, churning stomach, palpitations (pounding heart), sweating, shortness of breath.

Depression.

Help yourself

Short periods of stress are normal and can often be

resolved by something as simple as completing a task (and thus reducing your workload), or by talking to others and taking time to relax. One or more of the following suggestions might help:

1. Assess exactly what in your life is making you anxious. For instance, is it exams or money or relationship problems? See if you can change your circumstances to ease the pressure you’re under.

2. Try to live a more ‘balanced’ life: eat well, get enough sleep, exercise regularly, cut down on alcohol and spend some time socializing as well as working and studying.

3. Try not to worry about the future or compare yourself with other students. Everyone has their own distinct learning style.

4. Learn to relax. In a panic attack or stressful situation, try to focus on something outside yourself, or switch off by watching TV or chatting to someone.

5. Relaxation and breathing exercises may help.

Try to resolve personal problems by talking to a friend, tutor or someone in your family.

Professional health

Long-term stress and associated anxiety is more difficult to resolve by yourself and it’s often best for you to seek help. Don’t struggle alone. Anxiety can seriously impair your academic performance and that’s not only distressing for you, but means a lot of wasted effort.

You may benefit from treatment with prescribed medication or counseling or a combination of both.

Have a chat with your GP or a student counselor. Student counseling services usually offer short-term counseling and have counselors that specialize in anxiety related to exams, workload and other student issues.

Exam tips

Being fully prepared is the most effective way to overcome feelings of stress and anxiety about exams.

1. Make a revision schedule you can stick to. Work out how much revision you have to do and break it down into manageable chunks. Try allocating yourself a few hours of revision a day, and mix up your subjects to avoid getting bored.

2. Find a revision style that suits you. Studying alone in a quiet room works for some students but not everyone likes working in silence. Try playing music quietly in the background or revising with a friend to see if that helps.

3. Don’t overdo it. Studying for hours on end without a break will tire you out and ruin your concentration, making you even more anxious. Take frequent short breaks while you’re working. One every 45-60 minutes is about right.

During your breaks, try to do something relaxing like reading a book, stretching or watching a DVD.

International students set new record at 2010

Donghua University Track & Field Sports Meet

我院参加2010东华大学田径运动会代表队破纪录凯旋而归

It was complete pandemonium at the 2010 Donghua University sports day. The biggest track and field event of the year attracted hundreds of students, teachers, university administrators, and officials and

representatives from other universities in Shanghai. The event kicked off with a grand parade-style entrance of the different colleges from both campuses. And just when people thought the opening

ceremony would have been the highlight of the day, the international student teams left jaws dropped with their outstanding sportsmanship. The international students took home the first place prizes in the men’s 4x100m

relay, women’s 4x100 relay, men’s 800m, tug-of-war. Marta Ivaninoka from Latvia broke the previous record for the fastest time in the women’s 4x100m relay.

Teamwork, determination,

confidence were the recipe for our

huge victory at this years sports day.

This year’s sports day is clear demonstration of the true ability of the foreign students at DHU.

The demonstration of unity and

the display of determination of

the Chinese people all over the

globe following the devastating

earthquake that struck Yushu

on April 14th, has touched the

hearts of the international

students at Donghua University.

The students rallied together

outside the Teaching and

Research Building on April 28th,

to host their own donation

drive to raise funds to aid the

victims.

“It could have happened in my

country too, and it is the

humanitarian thing to do as

guests in this country to show

our support to the people in

their time of crisis”, comments

an international student during

the drive.

名来自国际文化交流学院的

留学生担任服装模特，使东

华成为当天唯一一个有外国

留学生参加演出的高校。留

学生们虽然并非专业模特，

但经过近一个月的辛苦排

练，他们精彩的现场表演赢

得了在场观众的阵阵喝彩，

成为当天表演的一大亮点。

留学生在展现了东华专业特

色的同时，也全面展现了东

华国际化的时尚风采。

the ASAS Super 7

Soccer League

With just 60 seconds left on the clock at the

second half, it the fate of the game was pretty

much up in the air until the opposing team

scored a goal right in the nick of time. The

Internationals have signed up to represent

Donghua University at the ten-week ASAS Super

7 Soccer League. The games are held every

Sunday at the Jing'An Workers Stadium. Visit the

ISA office for exact game times.

Beating

Procrastination

All of us face procrastination at some point in time. Whether it is putting off studying, working on organizational commitments, or taking care of personal tasks, procrastination usually does more harm than good. Procrastination can put more stress in your life and lessen the quality of work that you produce.

Getting Started Often the toughest part of doing a task (and the most procrastinated event) is

getting started. Here are some tips to help you overcome procrastination

when starting tasks:

Divide and Conquer Trying to do a large task, such as writing a 20-page term paper all at once,

can feel daunting or even impossible. Take the time to divide up the task and

tackle each part separately. Set mini deadlines so the task is more

manageable.

Start with a part that is believable When you have an “impossible” task, start with the least challenging aspect

of the task. Completing any portion of the task will help you gain the

momentum to keep working.

Make it ridiculous Use your imagination for motivation. When trying to drudge through your task,

imagine a “great” reward when you’re finished (such as receiving a standing

ovation from your entire organization or class, receiving a barrel full of cash,

etc.).

Reward yourself BIG & SMALL When you are having a tough time sticking to a job, give yourself a reward for

completing it. Maybe you get up every morning at dawn to run, so as a

reward for completing your job, let yourself sleep in for an extra hour. (Remember to think BIG!)

David-and-Goliath it Some tasks just can’t be put off any longer and need to be worked on. As

hard as it may be, dig in your heels and face “giant” tasks directly. Don’t let

fear hold you back! By forcing yourself to get started you can easily complete

the rest of your work.

Avoiding

Distractions

Once you start your tasks, you may be tempted by distractions to further

procrastinate. Here are some techniques for dealing with distractions:

Strong emotions This type of distraction deserves immediate attention. You may be using work to

distract yourself from dealing with strong emotions regarding friends, family, or

relationships. Rather than struggling to concentrate on your work, allow yourself

some time to think through what you can do to cope with your situation. Once

you have acknowledged your emotions and developed a plan for coping with

them, you will be able to concentrate more fully on your tasks.

U.F.O’s: Unidentified Flights of Originality Sometimes your most creative ideas for a project will come to you while you are

struggling to concentrate on another project. Write down these “U.F.O’s,” but

don’t let them further distract you. Because you’ve written them down, the

ideas will not be lost, and you can use them later.

Warnings of danger Real or imagined threats may cause distractions (e.g., I have to finish by Friday,

or else!). Try to place your fears in perspective. Think of the alternatives, even if

the worst might happen. Often these dangers are not as great as you might

think. By reducing the imagined threats, your stress distractions may be reduced,

and you will be more focused on your tasks.

“To do” reminders When you are in the middle of a difficult job, buying a loaf of bread or some

other “to do” item might suddenly haunt you. Keep a pad of paper where you

work. When you remember something you need to do, write it down and then

stay focused on the task at hand. When you finish or complete a portion of your

task, find a break, then take care of your “to do” list.
