The event, sponsored by our Home and School Club, has provided quite a lot of fun, frivolity, and camaraderie within our Fisher school community, with hundreds of student participants and other spectators in attendance. We have had numerous conversations of late regarding the feasibility of continuing our Dodgeball tradition again this spring, and though it is quite disappointing to think of having to take a hiatus this year, our current facilities constraints will not allow us to support the event in the fashion to which we have grown accustomed. In addition, the logistics of court set-up, etc. would be very challenging to duplicate off-site even if we were fortunate enough to land an alternative facility. Our staff and Home and School Club have come to the conclusion that we would rather wait until next year and christen our new facility in grand fashion, as opposed to hosting a substandard event. We will spend this year planning for Dodgeball 2016-2017 with the goal of increasing future participation, as our new gymnasium will provide vastly expanded square footage. Principal’s Corner Dear Fisher Parents,

The Dodgeball Blues…

For those new to Fisher Middle School this year, you may have heard rumor of our signature Dodgeball Tournament we have hosted the past few years.

Thank you, in advance, for your patience and understanding. I am certain Dodgeball 2016-2017 will be well worth the wait.

Best,

Lisa Fraser, Principal

SCIENCE MUSIC

ART SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL LEARNING

Visit lgef.org or find us on Facebook and Twitter. For general questions, e-mail us at [email protected].

LGEF: Serving Blossom Hill, Daves Avenue, Lexington, Van Meter, and RJ Fisher schools since 1982.

URGENT! 100% PARENT PARTICIPATION NEEDED BY JANUARY 29 Dear Parents and Guardians, As you may know, LGEF annually requests that every district family donates to our organization. These donations turn into grants that LGEF issues to the district. The grants pay for Science, Music, Art and Social-Emotional Learning programs. Programs that are part of the curriculum of every district student. Though we’ve had some strong fundraising in 2015, LGEF still needs to raise $300,000 to reach its goal. As of early January, only 22% of our families had made contributions, leaving us at a critical juncture. Because every student in our district is enriched by our programs, it is important that every district family supports LGEF with a donation. This is why I implore you to donate whatever amount your family can afford at www.lgef.org. Your support is critical to the education of your child. All donations need to be in by January 29. So don't delay. Donate today at www.lgef.org. Thank you for your support. Here’s to a fantastic 2016! Sincerely, Nick Goddard, President LGEF [email protected]
