CITYLINK TULLA WIDENING: TEMPORARY REMOVAL OF NOISE WALL ON CITYLINK NEAR BENT STREET, NORTH MELBOURNE, AUGUST – SEPTEMBER 2016We are writing to inform you about temporary changes to a section of existing noise wall on CityLink near Bent Street, as part of the CityLink Tulla Widening project. We will need to remove a section of the existing noise wall, as shown in red on the map below, to undertake road works on CityLink in the safest construction environment possible.

A new higher permanent noise wall will be built as soon as the existing noise wall has been removed. The new noise wall will be completed by September 2016.

What you may notice during constructionWhile these works will not impact your property you may notice: Lane closures and traffic management on the freeway Noise from heavy equipment when in use, such as cranes, trucks and site vehicles An increase in traffic noise from CityLink while the new noise wall is being installed Construction personnel working in the area

About the projectAs you may be aware, work on the CityLink Tulla Widening project is underway and involves adding lanes and other measures to improve the flow of traffic across the 24 kilometre section of freeway from the CityLink tunnels to Melbourne Airport. The project will also provide travel time savings per trip between Melbourne Airport and the West Gate Freeway during peak periods.

The project will deliver a safer, more reliable freeway. Generally, an additional lane is being added in each direction, as well as upgrades at key interchanges including Bell Street, Mount Alexander Road/Flemington Road and on the Bolte Bridge to West Gate Freeway entry ramp.

CPB Contractors is the construction contractor for the Bulla Road to Power Street section of the project.

Managing and protecting the environment is also important to us and we are working with local and state government adhering to environmental laws to ensure any impact to the natural ecosystem is minimised.
